Barcelo Bavaro Palace Deluxe

The hotel is very nice and the beach is wonderful. The only thing I didn't like was that the food they serve is the same everyday. We were there a week and the menu didn't change. After 3 days I was tired of eating the same for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Also, the service is a little slow.

Lovely surroundings not such a warm welcome by staff.

Me & my teenage daughters went for a week. The grounds were beautiful and the family deluxe accomodations were spacious and lovely. Transportation to and from the other resorts was good - didn't have to wait long. I am not a fussy traveler and do not have higher than average expectations. My biggest complaint was the staff. They were not friendly or as gracious as I have experienced at many resorts in Mexico. That was probably my greatest disappointment. It was very difficult to get a drink at practically any of the bars. They didn't even acknowledge that you were standing in front of them - bartenders, deskclerks, counter clerks, etc. I think the bars were understaffed most of the time. Buffets were plentiful but had much of the same food at each of them - not a big variety between them. (Not a big deal to me.) Construction was ocurring but didn't really affect us. Little things like no drink menus anywhere. I wanted to go and try different drinks while I was there - but the staff would just stare back at me if I asked them for a suggestion or asked them to make anything different than the few drinks they tended to serve. But - the resort itself was beautiful and the beach was lovely. There was enough chairs for everyone to sit at the pool or the beach. Pools were clean. It was situated not as close to other resorts as I had thought - and you really couldn't venture outside the gates - nothing really out there and didn't look all that safe.

Great Family Vacation

You can stay at any of the Barcelos in this unit and use the waterpark, but the newness and smallness of the Barcelo Family is worth staying at. You don't have to make dinner reservations for non-buffet restaurants which is a bonus! A train transports you around the grounds from hotel to hotel but we never waited more than 2 minutes for one to get on. Lots of food options.

The worst I have been

The food was awful, the service was not good, the set up and the concept of the resort is the worst I have seen. Only the rooms are great, but the cleaning service was never done before 4:00pm. When staying at the Family Deluxe, you need to know that to go to the beach you need to take the little train that only starts at 9:00am and it takes 15 mins. There is no entertainment before 10:00pm and it is not good... Will I go back, never... Sorry but Barcelo for me was the first and definitely the last...

Not impressed.....BUT

If this is your first time going to Punta Cana.This hotell will be fine.There was no greeting. Just got out of the bus and checked in. The room at the Family Deluxe was very nice. you need to tell them to check the mini bar everyday and they will.The main bedroom has a king and a tv,and a balcony.The other bedroom has two full size beds and a tv and a balcony. But only one bathroom. The Hotel is very big, and they are making it larger so....yes it is under consruction. The workers are loud and every one that drives a truck into the jobsite has to blow the horn. Not for safety just to blow it. Construction is from 7:30 am till 10:30 pm. The buffets try to serve the same things differently. But there is a good assortment so you dont have to eat it all the first time. The drinks are good and if you ask for more rum they will give you as much as you want. But dont look for variety.As I said before bring enough money with you, the ATM's dont work well. Until they get the const. done there are only 3 places to eat .And the buffets. Also they were not enforcing the men wear long pants. Overall it was average with a few problems.I guess the biggest problem was that Expedia didnot know that the other resteraunts were closed and consruction was going on.We knew that some construction was going on but not that 2 sections of the hotel were closed.

Nice Hotel but Bad Food

We stayed in the Family Deluxe Hotel. While the room was beautiful, the food in all the buffets and in most of the restaurants was mediocre at best. I probably would not do an all-inclusive deal again.

Good Time

This hotel is part of a complex. The majority of activities occur at the Palace Deluxe which is a 10 minute walk or a 10-14 minute "train" ride from the Family Deluxe. During our stay at beginning of April, construction closed path to ocean. The mosquitos were relentless in the hotel room especially during the night. The room was great with ample space. The food was very good, especially the Italian restaurant.

Fun Spring break for family of four.

We pretty much got what we expected...be sure to ready all the reviews. The the food was fine but got old after several days - pretty much all the restuarants had the same food. We enjoyed our stay but were ready to leave when the time came. (we went on Sunday and left on Friday). The casino and "vegas style" shows at night were the only evening entertainment and a bit tired after several nights. We had 2 teenagers with us who would have liked more to do at night. The beach was beautiful and the water an incredible color. I highly recommend leaving the resort for an excursion for a day or part of a day. We did the boogie carts and loved seeing part of the countryside. The Expedia representative was great!

fun trip

This hotel was average and older. We had alot of fun there and would go back. The hotel room was nice and convienant to pools. They could improve on service and very little english spoken here. The steak house was excellent and ate there twice.

Bavaro's Best Hotel Complex

My roomates and I had a fun and amazing Spring Break. This is my fifth trip to Barcelo but my first with American friends. They loved the food and friendliness of Dominicans. We are already planning our second trip! Right now lots of construction is going on so if you wanna be wowed wait until Summer time. Our hotel was lovely and new. Jacuzzis in every room, lounges, modern bathroom among other great amenities. Recommend for family, spring break groups, older couples and anyone seeking an incredible experience in Paradise.

"Recommended for family fun"

The Barcelo Bavaro Family Deluxe section of this huge resort is a quite corner that you can relax qnd sleep at night with relatively little noise.There is construction at the back part of your room,however the walls and sliding glass door to your balcony are very sound proof allowing for little distrubance.It is a very clean and large room with 2 sections for sleeping and with 2 teenage boys, we could take a break from one another with ease when needed.The Tram runs from the lobby every 10 or so minutes,so reaching the other 3 resort stops and the beach is easy.The beach is Punta Cana beautiful white sand,very long and wide.The ocean is blue and warm.We didn't encounter any beach vendors as there is a local market selling clothing & jewellery about a 10 minutes walk up the beach.The boys went parasailing, snorkling and had a massage.We ate breakfast in the buffet style dining rooms which had a wide american style arrangment to choose from.We did however prefer the steak house or the italian restaurants for lunch or supper.Overall, it is one of better resorts that we have been to in the last 7 years with the kids.The weather was great and everyone had lots to do with the golf club and the 4 different resorts under one location.Enjoy!

Barcelo The Beautiful

We enjoyed our stay at Punta Cana Beach and the area is still being developed. We loved Santo Domingo. Hotel workers are all local dominicanos spoke spanish only and not english that made us look for people who speak english and we hesitated to her taxi for this reason.

Das Bavaro Family Deluxe liegt ca. 10 Gehminuten vom Strand entfernt

Der Strand ist wunderschön, Sehenswürdigkeiten gibt es keine vor Ort, es gibt jedoch vielfältige Wassersportmöglichkeiten inkl. Delfinshow direkt am Strand bzw. unmittelbar davon entfernt im Meer. Die Anlage ist großzügig mit großer Poollandschaft, für Kinder bestens geeignet. Mehrere Restaurants inkl. Steakhouse stehen zur Verfügung. Das Personal ist nett, zuvorkommend, jedoch meist nur des spanischen mächtig. An der Rezeption auch Englisch möglich. Uns hat das Family deluxe sehr gut gefallen, für Familien bestens geeignet, da 4 Erwachsene (2 Pärchen) bequem Platz und Ruhe finden, da die beiden Zimmer räumlich durch einen kleinen Flur getrennt sind, das schöne Bad teilt man sich aber. Falls ich nochmal nach Punta Cana komme ist das Family deluxe (mehr als 2 Leute) bzw. Palace deluxe (2 Leute) meine erste Wahl.

Wonderful new hotel -perfect for families

We just returned from Punta where we stayed at Barcelo Bavaro Family Deluxe. The Barcelo complex is huge and stretches over an impossibly beautiful beach with palms, white sand and turquoise sea. We were booked for 5 days but extended 2 The family set-up is awesome The room includes 2 separate rooms with 2 balconies- new construction was beautiful including state of the art bath, flat screen TV, one room with King / one with two doubles. Built in 2009, this property caters to children- they have their own kiddie bar with fruit drinks,cokes / on site kids-club director. Construction is ongoing to builid 3 more family units, so beach path is temporarily blocked-However, complex provides a tram every 10 minutes to the beach or it is a pleasant 10 minute walk. All of the buffets in the complex were decent- We had the best luck with chef cook to order. The grilled chicken pasta was always good if you could find nothing else- Also made to order omelets, smoothies, tacos etc. The staff was awesome but most DO NOT speak English. Be respectful and use your high school Spanish and they will respond and appreciate!! It was almost impossible to get the mini-bar restocked, but the free bar was just a few steps away- so no biggie. Overall a wonderful vaca and a stunning location- every step of the beach looks like a Corona commercaial!
