THE MARINA: Work on the marina itself, with 450 boat slips, began in 1986\. And by 1990, the marina was in full swing, even though it was 1993 before it was completed (ahead of schedule). Now, there are high-rise condominiums along the shoreline, marina-front condos, and homes and small development condominiums along the fairways of the Marina Vallarta golf course. It’s an excellent location that’s close to the airport and not far from downtown Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco and shopping available close by at Plaza Marina. LANDMARKS, SIGHTS & ACTIVITIES: There are three distinguishing landmarks for Marina Vallarta. When arriving by vehicle, the first you'll see is a large whale sculpture at the Marina's main entrance. It was built by Octavio González in the early 90s and paid for by local Marina businessmen. The prominent landmark is a lighthouse, built alongside the marina promenade and at the end of Calle (street) Timon. The lighthouse has a bar at the top and is a wonderful place to have an evening cocktail and get a great view of all of Marina Vallarta. The marina promenade is very popular with strollers, enjoying the many boats in the marina, and the many restaurants available for breakfast, lunch and dinner. On Thursday evenings the whole marina boardwalk turns into a market with all sorts of interesting available, much of it handmade. PLEASE NOTE: Guests must be 25 years of age to make a reservation and must provide ID at check-in unless prior approval has been given. The check-in desk retains the right to refuse access to any property if this condition has not been met. The credit card may be charged up to $500 after departure if property is damaged, requires excessive cleaning, or if items are missing. The credit card provided must be in the name of main guest. NO GROUPS. We often get asked many questions from our guests as they plan their stay. I hope this is all helpful, my estimate of pesos is only a very rough guide: You won’t need a car, taxi’s are easy and cheap – do not pay more than 250 pesos from airport to condo. The taxi’s from the airport are much more expensive than the normal yellow taxi service. If you are adventurous you can also walk across the bridge next to the airport and get a local yellow taxi to the condo. This would only cost about 80 pesos. Visit Centro- A taxi ride from the condo to centro is 130 pesos. We like to walk along the Malecon in Centro – our favorite restaurant is La Dolce Vita on the Malecon Visit Old Town Romantic Zone – condo to Romantic Zone Basilio Badilllo (200 pesos) Visit the Markets between Centro & Romantic zone – approximately (180 pesos) Visit Night Markets in the Marina - The markets are in the Marina on Thursday nights Dec-April), so make sure you stay in the Marina for those night Favorite restaurants in the Marina – Expensive: Senora Grill, Affordable: Pepe’s Taco’s The best tours are with Vallarta Adventures (they are located almost directly below the condo, so super easy to organize) http://www.vallarta-adventures.com You can do almost anything through Vallarta Adventures. Many of the activities can be done with local bus and taxi. We went through the list of activities that Vallarta Adventures provides and worked out how to do them on our own. Day trip to Yelapa – Get the local bus to Boca(Bus from Marina to Basillio Badillo, local bus to Boca from Basillio Badillo), hire a small boat to Yelapa Day trip to Los Animas – Get the local bus to Boca (Bus from Marina to Basillio Badillo, local bus to Boca from Basillio Badillo), hire a small boat to Los Animas Day trip to Sayulita – Get a taxi to Walmart (70 pesos), get the local bus to Sayulita (70 pesos) Dat trip to El Eden – Get a bus to Mismaloya (Bus from Marina to Basillio Badillo, local bus to Mismaloya from Basillio Badillo). Get a taxi, or hire a 4-wheeler up to El Eden KEY CLEANLINESS GUIDELINES: • We encourage good hand hygiene for guests and anyone involved with the property by encouraging hand-washing regularly with water and soap for at least 20 seconds. • We recommend removing shoes when entering the property and leaving them at the entrance (if possible, outside). You can withdraw pesos from most ATM’s in PV, however toy can also get pesos before you go from your local bank, they will need a week to order (get smaller denomination, lots of 20 and 50 peso notes) which is helpful for taxi rides etc.. It's in a great location, in the heart of the marina, with easy access to restaurants, coffee shops, etc. The best feature was the wrap-around terrace, which is quite large. We had complete privacy out there and could have meals at the large table, or relax in the lounge chairs. The terrace really made the whole apartment experience quite special. ##### Helen T. We have rented many places through VRBO, but this was by far the best. The location is perfect, with easy walks to groceries, restaurants, coffee, and treats. The deck might be the focal point of the condo, as you can always find sun or shade, and people-watching is excellent from one floor up. Everything in the condo is high-end, starting in the kitchen and continuing throughout. We have already booked our return trip. Louise and Alma are a great team and highly responsive if required. ##### Dean M. Location above the marina was fantastic. Only issue is it says 5 minute walk from the beach. The only public beach access we could find was 10 minutes by car. We still would stay again. The unit was well designed and spacious with a super big terrace. An added benefit was that many of shops and restaurants were within walking distance (a big advantage for someone with walker} As an x-sailor we really enjoyed watching the action of the various size boats coming and going. Health permitting we certainly plan to be back next year. The only negative comment we have is the constant construction noise which we hope will be finished when we return next year. The home is immaculate and had more than everything I needed. The bed is comfortable and I am picky! The kitchen was very well stocked. The location is fabulous. I have stayed in the Marina area many times, and this is my favorite location. Right in the middle of everything. The staff treats you like family. Only disappointment the patio photos showed umbrella table and chairs and patio set. These were not there so the patio morning and early afternoon no shade from the sun. So we never used the patio until about 3pm.. We noticed the currant photos still show the same photos we saw last year when we rented for this April 2023\. We are from San Diego, Ca and definitely are not used to hot weather so we actually enjoyed the pool and condo full time it has excellent amenities, nice walking views, great restaurants just steps away, amazing deck, is equipped with all you need, decoration nice, I didn’t miss anything from the hotel, it dies gives you a home/resort feel ! The condo has absolutely everything we needed or wished for. The peaceful view of the Marina from the massive balcony was a delight in the evening. During the day we could lounge or eat outside as we watched people pass on the malecon below. Nearby restaurants and the extraordinary pop up market on Thursday night were excellent. The pool area was surrounded by lush greenery and palm trees. It was well maintained and a great place to meet some friendly neighbors. This spacious condo, with the fabulous marina views, is very accurately presented. Many meals were prepared in the fully stocked kitchen. The Soriana market is only a 13 minute walk but there are also several convenience stores and liquor/wine shops located around the marina. The Thursday evening market includes terrific dinner options. Returning to this condo is certainly on our travel list. ##### Valerie C. The condo was outfitted with everything you would need for a comfortable stay. The kitchen had everything you needed to cook a full meal. We did stay in and have some nice breakfasts and a couple dinners, but there are at least a dozen restaurants that are delicious and affordable within walking distance. We never took a cab to find a great meal. There is a Kiosko store literally steps from the condo entrance where we were able to pick up snacks and beverages whenever the mood struck. The balcony is huge with really nice furniture. We spent many hours just relaxing and people watching from that perch right abovel the action in the marina. The pool area was really nice, clean, and uncrowded. The check in and out with Alma was a breeze. Highly recommend staying at this condo in the Marina District. Very safe area with many friendly people and always something Interesting to watch. ##### Maureen M.
