Cute boutique hotel in an ideal location. Staff was all amazing, and the cafe for breakfast was exceptional - the best food we had while in PR. The property is in need of some maintenance though. The rooftop pool is rundown and needs vacuuming. Neither the rooftop bar nor hotel bar were operational. Our room only had a window to an interior courtyard also in need of maintenance, so we kept the shutters closed...

Great location to walk around old san juan. Lots to look at and lots of food options. Very close to the Forts. Parking a little challenging. Absolutely loved the structure and look of this hotel if you appreciate and love old infrastructures & character. wifi a challenge at times. Our toilet stopped flushing late into our last evening so we just used the downstairs one. rooftop view and pool were a plus. Beautiful views & soda machine right there so very convenient. overall, great cute and quaint lil hotel. Would definitely come back!

La Terraza de San Juan is fine if you’re looking for a relatively affordable place to stay in Viejo San Juan, but I wouldn’t describe it as the “upscale, boutique hotel” it bills itself as. I’ll start with the positives: The staff were nice and held our luggage when we arrived a bit early and the room wasn’t ready. Our room was spacious and had a sizable terrace. The bed and pillows were pretty comfortable. On the other hand, there was a glass shower awkwardly placed in the middle of the room and there seemed to be no way to control the temperature, which was either scalding hot or freezing cold. We weren’t given towels upon arrival and even after leaving a message with the front desk, I had to walk down to get after we didn’t receive them for several hours. When the room was serviced, they took the towel that was on the floor (where a sign said to put it to have it exchanged) and didn’t replace it with a fresh one. Our room was also beneath the rooftop plunge pool, which gargled and made strange sounds at night. And the WiFi barely worked. All in all, I’d only return if looking for a comfortable bed, good location, and to save some money.

We are glad you saw some positives whilst staying with us Ashley. Typically we do not provide room service (including turning in towels) as night shift workers are quite literally running the entire hotel alone. If ever you need something, front desk is a short elevator ride away!

This is a historical hotel in a historic area of Old San Juan. Our room was large and very comfortable and centrally located which made it easy to access good restaurants and shopping on foot. The small swimming pool on the roof was a wonderful oasis in the hot afternoons. The staff were helpful and breakfast was good, but not included. We would highly recommend this hotel for a stay in Old San Juan. Driving would have been difficult. We dropped our car off and took a taxi to the hotel to finish off our trip.

Our room did not have hot water. We called the front desk and the front desk girl Sara was new so she did not know what to do. She asked us to wait for 10 minutes there and there is going to be hot water very soon. We believed but the reality was we stand in front of the shower extremely cold for more than 20 minutes and we called back. The front desk girl said actually she did not know what to do and where the heater is. So we need to wait for at least another 30 minutes. It is not ok for such a hotel which cost 300 bucks a night to have such an unprofessional front desk and terrible room service. We changed to another room in the end to shower. And the front desk girl was super mean to us and said we make a mess in the previous room’s bathroom which we did not at all. All we did was walk into the shower room naked and expect a normal shower and stand there cold for 20 minutes without anyone help us solve the problem. We did not understand this hotel’s profession at all. BTW The AC was turned to 16 degrees before we enter the room with a note stick on the broken controller saying “please be sustainable”. It was super cold and ironic. We were now able to change the temperature as the controller was broken. The front desk said there is only one controller for the whole hotel. Each time we want to change the temperature we need to come to the front desk to ask for it and return it ASAP.

Typically issues with maintenance are delagated to our maintenance staff and front desk tries there best when maintenance is not available. I am glad that she moved you to another room without the hot water issue and I hope all else was well during your stay. A very nice hotel in Old San Juan. Great rooftop view and nice room. Very walkable to shops and dinning. The staff was very friendly, accommodating and informative. Definitely would stay there again.

Very, VERY disappointed in the accommodations at the property. Expedia claims that they hotel has a bar, which it does….. BUT hotel lost their liquor license and there is no bar available. Which was disappointing and had I known that I probably would not have stayed at this facility. There are so many other cute boutique hotels, close by. As far as cleanliness, not the cleanest hotel (no soap to wash your hands) seem to me they just don’t pay attention to detail. when we got back from dinner, we realized half the lights didn’t work, tv didn’t work ( just trying to see what the weather looks like for the next day) . I would most definitely never stay here again, and really don’t recommend it.

We apologize for the confusion we have temporarily closed the first floor bar while we search for a bartender. We apologize that housekeeping forgot to stock your soap however we are always a phone call away at front desk. And we would be more then happy to bring it straight to your room so you wouldnt even have to get up! I just finished checking your room lights and you are correct the one above the sink must have gone out before check-in however the rest of the lights are in working order. As well as the television. We are sorry to have lost a guest, and we hope in the future you can give us another shot so that we can wow you!

The property was beautiful while being pretty simple and eco-conscious. The café downstairs from the hotel had limited hours, but had excellent offerings and really great coffee. The staff was super friendly and helpful.

This property was perfect for me as a single traveler. Its location is right in the middle of Old San Juan and was within walking distance of everything. That been said this is an old boutique hotel and is not for everyone, there are no amenities. I loved it personally and would stay there again, as I was just looking for a place to sleep at night. And once again location was awesome.

The suite we booked was a great size with two bedrooms and two baths, a living room and kitchen. It was convenient to everything in Old City San Juan and I loved the rooftop terrace views! On the negative side, given the price, the suite wasn't maintained as well as I'd have liked. My BR door didn't latch, the hair dryer attached to the wall didn't work (they did provide one that did), a light bulb was missing in the overhead light fixture, the dishwasher didn't work, etc. Coffee was sold in the lobby, not provided. Over all, I'd stay there again for the location.

The hotel was beautiful and comfortable, and the staff friendly and helpful. The elevator was a bit slow, and the stairs were very old and uneven, but these didn’t really impact our stay. We’d stay here again.

The hotel staff controlled the AC temperature in the room and the hotel did not allow us to have the temperature controller and the hotel could not make any adjustment to the temperature because the thermostat was broken.

My understanding from this is that your aircon unit was malfunctioning? In this case we almost always try to solicit a room change, however looking in our system we see we had a full house. Were there truly no method of adjusting the air you should have been offered a discount.

This is a lovely small hotel perfectly located in Old San Juan, but the service is spotty. Uncontrolled AC, dirty sheets, few towels, inconsistent staff response to these modest problems. The roof top terrace is great, however.

When tile and brick age, they can at times seem dirty when in fact it is simply scratched and chipped. We consistently spray for and maintain low humidity levels in our rooms to not harbor the growth of mold. Should you ever encounter the early stages that we may have missed, please contact the front desk to send a housekeeper to remedy the problem.

Great central location. No way to park a car for loading and unloading at the hotel. Parking two blocks away is expensive. The breakfast area was small and service was slow. Slow elevator - walked the stairs since the elevator responce was so slow. The pool was very small, but good for soaking the feet after long walks. Nice view to the south from the rooftop terrace. They did not wipe up water in the first floor hall after rain and did not provide any warnings of a slippery surface (I almost fell). No room phone to communicate with other rooms and the desk. They did not leave AC controls in the room (apparent theft issue?)

We appreciate when guests are honest with their thoughts about our hotel. We always say that the elevators are slow sure, but safe. As well as the service, we try our best to be quick but at the very least we promise a great meal! Front desk is supposed to be on top of mopping and putting up signs when it rains, I have reminded all staff of their duties during times of weather. Thank you for the heads up and we hope you got home safe and sound!

The location of La Terraza is fantastic. Easy access to all of Old San Juan and the staff was very nice. The hotel looks like it was fabulous at one point, but a lack of maintenance has become an issue. Missing soap tray in the shower, several burned out lightbulbs, conveniences like in-room coffee machine, mini bar, etc were not available. Adjusting the room temperature required a call to the front desk, and somebody coming up to adjust it. Hot water was also an issue for the couple traveling with us.

This hotel is in an excellent location but that’s all it has. The place was not well taken care of. The bar is closed. To change the temp for the AC you need to call downstairs and they then have to go to your room in person to use their remote to change the temp. Apparently people steal the remotes. The bathrooms were dirty and smelled like pee :( They dont even provide tissue paper, or a trash bin in the room. The place has a drip coffee maker but no coffee is provided. It also has a range oven, but no microwave oven. The place gets really dark in the evening.

This hotel is lovely and room was very spacious and comfortable. Only issues we had was there was no remote to our AC but they were nice enough to leave us a fan and that was perfect. The views from the rooftop and balcony is beautiful and the staff was very kind.

Quaint historic property- minimalist modernization but breathtaking roof deck pool and views. Staff professional and pleasant. Great walking interests - quick Uber ride to/from airport. Beautiful colonial setting will visit again.
