My husband and I stayed at The Palms for a week and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The grounds are beautiful, very well maintained and everything felt super clean! The hotel location and amenities were wonderful. The reason we did not give it an “Excellent” rating is:
Service was hit or miss. It was always good, and we never were not taken care of, but it widely differed depending on the employee. There were several times we felt as though we were inconveniencing them, which shouldn’t be the case at a 5-star hotel.
We were expecting it to be pricey, but it was very pricey! We visited one of their sister resorts a few doors down, and although not as nice, food and drink were much more reasonable.
Entertainment, or the lack thereof. This was the biggest con for us. We are by no means a party crowd, but there was not much to keep us occupied — especially since we were unable to really leave the resort due to COVID dining restrictions. There was no music on the beach or at the pool during the day, and nothing going on at night! One night (Wed) they had a nice fire going by the pool and some music but that was 1/7 nights. We felt like they were only hurting themselves in that arena. Because everything shut down so early, restaurants & bars, there was no one out and therefore no one buying food and drinks. We for sure would have spent more money at the bar had there been stuff going on, but instead retired to our room and drank what we purchased at the grocery for waay less!
