The Dean is well rated by many travel mags but I wonder if any of them have started in the hotel. The front desk staff were efficient but far from friendly, almost like they forgot that they work at the front desk of a hotel. Not a smile or warm welcome from anyone. It was very odd actually. The room, I’m sure photographs very well but some things aren’t super functional. Location is great, in between Federal hill and the train station. And located steps from the LGBT bars.

The bar was the only good part. The room was beautiful - but not functional. Extremely uncomfortable furniture. The sheets were dirty and when the girl came to change them, not only did they not have the right size, she didn’t know how to make a bed. They ended up switching our room, this one didn’t have enough towels and no washcloths. The "bed" was a poorly made futon, not an actual mattress. The shower is so small I'm five feet tall and couldn't bend over to wash my legs. And it was noisy. All. Night. Long. We stayed two nights, didn't sleep for any of it. Do not recommend.

Great find! Quirky boutique hotel that has everything you need. Room was spacious, clean and comfortable. Only thing lacking was a mini fridge in the room. We would stay again!

WiFi kind of spotty but overall a nice place. Make sure you park on the lot right next to the hotel way cheaper than the cover garage next door

I enjoyed my stay. The staff were very kind and the room was clean. I had some minor issues with noise from people in the rooms nearby returning to their rooms late and drunk, but this was not the hotel’s fault.

Great location in the heart of downtown. Parking is located directly next to the hotel which is very convenient. The staff was beyond helpful and friendly with recommendations etc.. Couldn't ask for a better spot. One word of advice is the rooms are somewhat small, but they offer everything you could need.

The staff were fantastic and I really appreciated their initiative to consolidate my two reservations so that I didn't have to change rooms. The elevator was quaint, the rooms were spacious, and the noise level was minimal. I loved the note that was specifically left for me, and I appreciated the chance to get a good night's sleep every night I was there. The location was great in terms of easy access to the city bus as well as lots of great cafes and restaurants. I was grateful for the staff member who came up immediately to unclog my toilet late at night. I'd definitely stay again on a future visit!

Mid February stay in a king suite. Room was lovely, even if there was a strange smell of disinfectant everywhere. A tiny portable heater was going full blast but the room and the corridors were absolutely freezing. I can only imagine there was a problem with the central heating system. The thermostat read 51 but didn’t seem to work. It certainly felt like 51!

seemed like a very outdated boutique hotel. Elevator was a "lift" from back in the day. Room was to basic, no mini fridge to store anything. Room had no dresser to store belongings, mattress was EXTREMELY UNCOMFORTABLE, very odd bed set up... Would never recommend this place to anyone. Check in and check out process was good, very friendly staff

Charming Artsy Hotel
The hotel is in a great location to walk to fun shops and great food establishments. We took advantage of the pop up restaurant in the hotel- Thick Neck- it was excellent! We also had a fabulous time at the Boom Box in our private karaoke room. The hotel lobby is super charming and the rooms are small but funky and feel like an artsy vintage NYC hotel. The elevator is OLD SCHOOL and that is not necessarily a bad thing. Our room was chilly- our heat didn't work at all, but we were fine and the comfy bedding kept us warm. Warning- the parking lot adjacent to the hotel is in no way affiliated and doesn't offer any discount to guests so you are paying alot for convenience. $38 for 24 hrs. There are other garages that charge $25. that are only a block away. I would stay again, but maybe park elsewhere.
