This intimate and inviting condo features a queen bed, as well as a twin-sized punee (Hawaiian day bed) in the living room that's perfect for sleeping a child if you're a small family. The living and dining areas are comfortably appointed, with incredible ocean views, and the kitchen is fully equipped for you to do as much cooking (or as little!) as you would like. You'll also be able to take advantage of Kauai's temperate weather by catching sunrises and sunsets on the private balcony lanai, or even whale-watching in the winter months! The sights and sounds of the Pacific will fill every room in the house, making you feel as if you're just steps from the water. If you somehow tire of watching the waves crashing into the bluffs just outside your windows, you'll find that you're conveniently close to all that the North Shore has to offer at Sealodge E8\. North Shore hot-spot Anini Beach, just 15 minutes away, has calm, clear waters, and is great for snorkeling and swimming. The beautiful golden beaches of Hanalei Bay are also just 15 minutes away, and the water is gentle and shallow, great for swimmers of all ages. The charming Hanalei town is right nearby as well, and has all the boutique shops and delicious eateries you could ever hope for! Try some ultra-fresh fish at the Hanalei Dolphin, or grab a sweet treat at Wishing Well Shave Ice (if you've never had macadamia ice cream you're missing out!). If you don't mind a longer car ride, Tunnels Beach is 30 minutes away, and has some of the best snorkeling on the island, and you'll likely spot some Honu (Hawaiian Green Sea Turtles) too! For those that prefer to stay a little closer to home, the Princeville Shopping Center is only 1.5 miles away, about 5 minutes driving, and has plenty of eating out options for casual dining close to home, plus a Foodland grocery store! Happy hour at Tiki Iniki is a great way to pass the afternoon with a cocktail and an appetizer! If you have activities planned around the island, be sure to budget your travel time accordingly. Drive time to the East Side (where the airport is located) is roughly 50 minutes, and to the South Shore is 75 minutes. Of course, if you're after a true staycation, the Sealodge grounds have all you need for a relaxing vacation right on the premises! You can spend the day lounging by the complex pool and soaking up the sun and the views, or you can throw an impromptu barbecue using the community charcoal grills (be sure to pick up a bag of charcoal at the Foodland!). You don't even need to leave the complex to have a great beach day either, just hike down to Sealodge Beach, about a 10 minute trek, to enjoy a secluded stretch of paradise with great fishing, great snorkeling, and no crowds! The path can get quite slippery after a rainfall, so make sure to wear appropriate footwear and tread carefully. As with most homes on Kauai, this vacation rental is NOT air conditioned. This is an upstairs condo so you need to be able to go up and down one flight of stairs. There are no elevators. Although this home has internet, the speed and reliability cannot be guaranteed due to the remote location and the service being provided by a third-party. Beautiful view!! Very close to facilities. It had everything we need it, except enough toilet paper, two rolls for 2 people for 10 days. I called the manager many times with no response. I left two voicemails and finally she called back the next day and said she advised the housekeeper to leave some for us, but the cleaner never did. The condo is well-equipped, although the smart TV is smarter than we are, so we had a nice media vacation. Great location to see the sights of the North Shore. ##### Heather S. The view alone was worth it to us. I was impressed with how much the condo offered - all the supplies we could need, from appliances to beach towels to coffee filters. Thankfully we were blessed with some beautiful sunny days so we were able to spend some time on the lanai/balcony in the mornings. On the few rainy days we experienced, the punee was my favorite spot to curl up with a blanket and get cozy. Yes, the wind can be intense during stormy weather, but this is an island after all, so nothing we weren't expecting. Close to everything on the north shore, including Princeville Center, Hanalei/Hanalei Bay and Kilauea, which was perfect for us. We did venture south and to the west side of the island, but it is a bit of a drive, so just know that ahead of time and plan accordingly. The property managers were easy to work with and super responsive, which I appreciated very much. We would love to come back again! ##### Robin A. Séjour de 7 nuits en janvier 2020 ### 6/10 – Acceptable #### Kerry C., Vancouver 4 févr. 2020 Points forts : Propreté #### Not What We Expected Note to any and all readers: North Kauai is known for being wet and rainy at times. This December trip was no exception as we had rain (indeed storms) nearly every day. Sealodge condos are located on the windward side of Princeville. We wound up driving south each day to find sun (and there was often very little). The Good: The condo was clean and provisioned with everything needed for good days at the beach-chairs, boards, beach towels, etc. All appliances were in good working order. Very nice view (if it is not storming). It was in nice proximity to Hanalei and various good beaches like Kalihiwai and Anini. The Not-So-Good: During rainy weather, the windows sills would fill with water and bubble as the wind blew against them. This would spatter onto the inner trim. We let the property managers know but nothing was done about this issue. We wound up laying towels over the area to stop the noise. Whether it was from this water entry or other issues, the room seemed to smell of mold. The heavy weather limited our ability to open the windows for fresh air (the rain was blowing so hard, we could not even leave the lanai slider open to let in fresh air). Lastly, the tenants across the hall have a dryer vent that blows into E8's jalousie windows by the door. With things shut up due to weather, the smell of dryer sheets when they dried clothes was intolerable and there was no way to shut out the smell. My wife and I both have allergies and this was too much. So, in summary: do your research on your expectations of a Kauai vacation in December (our number one lesson!). ##### Kerry C. It’s a private balcony with stunning views from every window. Loved the window seat, how safe and private and quiet it was, how friendly people were, and loved our adventurous hike to Sealodge Beach. You’ll almost always be the only ones there! It’s worth the hike in the rain. You will get muddy and some parts are single file along the rocks — but so worth the adventure! When on the trail, take the path to the left where the downed tree is after crossing the small creek. Everything about Sealodge and Princeville is heavenly! Loved seeing spinner dolphins in the morning and Kilauea Lighthouse in the distance. Our adventure to Queens Bath and Secret Beach were so incredible! Much mahalo!!! ##### Tina H.
