This intimate and inviting condo features a queen bed, as well as a twin-sized punee (Hawaiian day bed) in the living room that's perfect for sleeping a child if you're a small family. The living and dining areas are comfortably appointed, with incredible ocean views, and the kitchen is fully equipped for you to do as much cooking (or as little!) as you would like. You'll also be able to take advantage of Kauai's temperate weather by catching sunrises and sunsets on the private balcony lanai, or even whale-watching in the winter months! The sights and sounds of the Pacific will fill every room in the house, making you feel as if you're just steps from the water. If you somehow tire of watching the waves crashing into the bluffs just outside your windows, you'll find that you're conveniently close to all that the North Shore has to offer at Sealodge E8\. North Shore hot-spot Anini Beach, just 15 minutes away, has calm, clear waters, and is great for snorkeling and swimming. The beautiful golden beaches of Hanalei Bay are also just 15 minutes away, and the water is gentle and shallow, great for swimmers of all ages. The charming Hanalei town is right nearby as well, and has all the boutique shops and delicious eateries you could ever hope for! Try some ultra-fresh fish at the Hanalei Dolphin, or grab a sweet treat at Wishing Well Shave Ice (if you've never had macadamia ice cream you're missing out!). If you don't mind a longer car ride, Tunnels Beach is 30 minutes away, and has some of the best snorkeling on the island, and you'll likely spot some Honu (Hawaiian Green Sea Turtles) too! For those that prefer to stay a little closer to home, the Princeville Shopping Center is only 1.5 miles away, about 5 minutes driving, and has plenty of eating out options for casual dining close to home, plus a Foodland grocery store! Happy hour at Tiki Iniki is a great way to pass the afternoon with a cocktail and an appetizer! If you have activities planned around the island, be sure to budget your travel time accordingly. Drive time to the East Side (where the airport is located) is roughly 50 minutes, and to the South Shore is 75 minutes. Of course, if you're after a true staycation, the Sealodge grounds have all you need for a relaxing vacation right on the premises! You can spend the day lounging by the complex pool and soaking up the sun and the views, or you can throw an impromptu barbecue using the community charcoal grills (be sure to pick up a bag of charcoal at the Foodland!). You don't even need to leave the complex to have a great beach day either, just hike down to Sealodge Beach, about a 10 minute trek, to enjoy a secluded stretch of paradise with great fishing, great snorkeling, and no crowds! The path can get quite slippery after a rainfall, so make sure to wear appropriate footwear and tread carefully. As with most homes on Kauai, this vacation rental is NOT air conditioned. This is an upstairs condo so you need to be able to go up and down one flight of stairs. There are no elevators. Although this home has internet, the speed and reliability cannot be guaranteed due to the remote location and the service being provided by a third-party. One thing we wish we did differently would be to spend more time around the condo and relaxing but if we went back to Kauai we would definitely stay here again. Thank you for your hospitality! I was satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The views from our rental were amazing. We slept with our bedroom window open every night to listen to the sound of the waves crashing. Rental was very clean and we had everything we needed for our stay. Location was great for the Northshore. Only issues were the sliding door and windows were hard to open and close. Had to put some strength behind opening and closing. Other issue is locking the front door. Only lock was the push button entry. Would have been nice to have a secondary lock that could only be locked when inside. Besides all that very happy with our stay. ##### Nardo D. ### 4/10 Poor #### Tricia W. Feb 7, 2019 #### Do your research before booking! It's hard to complain about things while in paradise. HOWEVER, this was our 3rd stay in Kauai & the accommodations at this unit were very disappointing. Overall, it was clean & in good repair. The views were outstanding from the deck. It would have been nice to spend time out there but there are two plastic chairs to sit on & that's it . Bring binoculars because the set left for guests were broken. There is no washer and dryer inside the unit & having to go get quarters, hang around to do laundry & go back & forth to the laundry room in the next building was a waste of our vacation hours. There is no A/C & there are no ceiling fans. When coming from a cold climate, it takes a few days to adjust. The front of the refrigerator is rusting away & very unsightly. The throw pillows in the window seat & in the bedroom have spots of mold on them. The kitchen: We were not allowed to use the garbage disposal. There was no pepper, foil, plastic wrap or anything for preparing food such as cooking oil. There were no dish rags or pot holders. We rent these kinds of places when traveling to save money on eating out. We had to make multiple trips to the store for basics. That was the biggest disappointment of all. It's hard to believe all of the guests are not buying & leaving these kinds of supplies behind, so where are they? We were so irritated about this that we gave everything we bought to a neighbor since we were pretty sure the the things we purchased would not be available for the next guest. The bed was also pretty uncomfortable & the bedding, most of the towels and the bathmats need replacing. It really felt as if the owner of this unit just didn't care much about it or is just too cheap to update it & make it more appealing and comfortable. I put on clean, white socks after one of my showers & the bottom of the socks were dirty within an hour after walking around on the carpet. There is no removable shower head. There is also no wall for the bedroom. There is a plastic, folding partition to separate the dining room from the bedroom. We had the opportunity to view the neighbor's unit across the hall & their unit had solid surface flooring, very nice furnishings & just had a comfortable feel to it. We were disappointed & decided to leave a frank review so others would not have the same disappointing experience we did. The guestbook in the unit had many complaints but we didn't see any posted on line. I should have done more research. ##### Tricia W. Would have been nice to have a washer/dryer. There were grease spots on the carpet. The bedroom pillows should be replaced. They were somewhat smelly from use. The mattress was hard. Get new fashionable, colorful, updated bedspreads— would greatly improve the decor. Enjoyed all the extras in the storage closets. The unit was very clean. Quiet area and close to several beaches and trails. The landscape is incredible with both the mountains and the beaches. Loved our walks in the morning and our views of the water. Aw whales several days! Property could use some upgrading. Reported a new patio door needed due to the salty air and were already replacing the day they came to clean. Could use new carpet and Bath fixtures as well.
