La localisation est absolument parfaite et la vue sur le lac est époustouflante. Toutefois, le chalet, les fournitures et le mobilier nécessiteraient de nombreuses réparations/remplacement ainsi qu'un bon nettoyage (ex. : portes coulissantes difficile à ouvrir, cuisinière à moitié fonctionnelle, table de patio inutilisable, etc). Prendre note que la propriété ne possède pas de laveuses-sécheuse et que le Wi-fi n'était pas fiable. Malgré les efforts du propriétaire, nous n'avons pas pu y avoir accès. Malgré tout, la beauté du paysage et la proximité de l'eau atténue une bonne partie des inconvénients.

Merci pour ces commentaires, les brûleurs de la cuisinière ont juste besoin d'être enfoncés dans leurs prises lorsque vous faites cela, ils fonctionnent bien. Le Wi fi est définitivement le WIFI du pays, nous aurons un meilleur WIFI lorsqu'il sera disponible. La propriété est certainement l'une des meilleures pour une vue imprenable sur les dunes.

Thanks for the review, yes as stated in the rental agreement the water comes from the lake (we hope you had fun swimming in it) fresh water is supplied for cooking and drinking. The property is cleaned every week.

Beautiful location, but there rest is below average
Location: Fantastic view and easy access. Gorgeous sunset. Cottage: Vintage cabin feel, but dirty, full of spider webs that were not cleaned from previous client. I spent 30 minutes removing over 20 spider webs from the bedroom to the bathroom and kitchen. Listing says 3 bedrooms, but only has 2. Bathroom does not have privacy: it has no proper door and the wall is open to a bedroom. So outsiders can hear and see you. The entire cottage felt dirty, and we had to make our own bed. Host: He's responsive, but not accommodating to a slightly later checkout. His checkout time was 10am, and when I mentioned that standard checkouts are usually 11am or 12pm, he mentioned that it was mentioned in the listing. That was a lie, as it was only shared after a non-refundable payment. His property rules charge you a penalty if you move furniture, don't take out the trash or even leave 5 mins late. Needless to say, those strict rules and lack of customer service were disappointing.

Armando, the cottage is cleaned every week but it only takes a few hrs for a spider to make a web. The listing clearly states 2 bedrooms and a pullout (never heard this before). The rental agreement clearly states the check in and check out times and stated on your booking platform before you booked!

Rustic cottage
Great location, beautiful view. However it is an old cottage, with not a lot of privacy as bedroom and bathroom doors don't close properly. The cottage is older with not great screens on the windows. So expect insects. Issues with cleanliness, regarding floors and dishes. Wifi was excellent and fans worked great.

The location is amazing. It is, as many have said before, a dated cottage, but with the back porch and great weather you don't spend any time inside anyway. I would suggest getting a new cleaner! Although we may have been among the first guests, cleanliness was an issue. Other than that, great!

Great little family getaway
This is our second year booking and we were happy with our stay. My kids enjoyed being right on the lake and fishing from the deck. Great location, 5 minutes from Sand Banks provincial park and about 20 minutes from Picton. Highly recommend booking the pontoon at West Lake Watersports if you’re looking for more water activities.

Easy check in, beautiful views, quiet in the off season, dirty floors. More appropriate for the weekend warrior than a young family. Had everything we needed, but we were quite concerned to find glass on the floor and in the floor mats, that apparently the ‘cleaner’ had not cleaned up before we arrived.

Not recommended as listing is misleading
This was a weekend away with four girlfriends celebrating birthdays. We were all very disappointed with our experience of our accommodations. The cottage was very dirty, all windows/screens in the cottage were filthy, the main door screen had tape on it trying to keep the wasps out, the kitchen window rattled loudly due to the wind, the patio screens did not even close together, entrance door handrail was broken, the pullout couch had springs sticking out and no sheets, the blankets all smelled and we had to put them outside to air out, no dishwasher rack, water pressure was minimal, kitchen faucet is ready to fall off, both mattress were barely acceptable, the power went out when we used the microwave and we had to find the breakers to reset, the power went out overnight on Sat. No one showed up to prime the pump, so we had no water for the toilette or washing. We texted the owner at 835 am and left by 930 am and no one had showed up. The view was great but this is not a rustic cottage, it is a very dirty, smelly and not well kept. If you have any type of allergies don’t stay as the dirt, mould and general uncleanliness will impact you. I feel it is necessary to ensure all understand what they are walking into. We spent little time at the cottage and we are all very glad of that. We reached out to the openers on Sunday and they were not open to anything. The windows.screens were mentioned by previous clients and their explanation was that it was from Sept. This is not true. I would like at least one night back for compensation.

I went in the fall, colours are beautifully, the location of the cabin was great, we stayed in the first cabin and the side yard was huge, which we loved. The fire pit was set up nice and the chairs were great condition. The cabin was a rustic cottage. I didn't mind it but my friends had mixed opinions. There was a lot of pluses to being on the water, nice beach, location, side yard fire pit, cabin was clean, bed sheets were good. The cabin was old and tired. So it was like a true cabin. If you are looking for upscale then this might not be the place. But if you can look past the maintenance then this is the perfect place. For city people who do not know what i mean: Turned on the oven and we could smell mouse pee. Very destictive smell if you grew up in cottage County. But the smell did go away and there was no signs of mice so all is good. This is a two bedroom cabin with the third bed being in the livingroom (not) so comfortable. It was really windy one night the window rattled all night. The shower you could see outside (hole), electrical nightmare for plugging in a device. Again it is a cottage not a hotel so just have the right expectation going in and you will love it.

The basic cleanliness of the beds were fine but the rest of the cottage wasn't clean and run down. The BBQ grill was dirty and the scrapper was dead. Water pressure and hot water was spotty. I was not expecting a 4 star hotel. I knew it was a rustic cottage but even at that it was underwhelming.

Loved being right on the water. The cottage was cute but needed some major work done. There was no screens that did not have holes in it. When we first arrived we had to take the broom to the cobwebs and spiders. I am well aware that if there is water close by there would be spiders but these had been there for awhile. We had to clean all the fans especially over the island as it was so dusty when we turned it on the dirt would come off. The fold out couch was broke and very uncomfortable to sleep on. Our host was great and helpful when we did have questions

Pride of Ownership ???
I don't normally do reviews. In this situation I feel its necessary. The location provided us spectacular sunsets. The cottage is old, it's rustic and we have no problem with that but we strongly felt it lacked "Pride of Ownership". The cottage was poorly cleaned prior to our arrival and many things needed the owners attention to make it clean and safe. The windows and screens were filthy from years of ?? the entrance door didn't have a screen. The hand railing at entrance was rotten and not attached. First Impression rating was '0'. The ceilings inside had cobwebs. Every room had ceiling fans thankfully but very dirty with bugs and dust. Dropped food from previous renters was still inside the garbage cupboard, the microwave was beyond gross. The BarBQ wasn't much better and no utensils. The shoreline needs improvement to gain entry to water. An older person would not be able to hop the rocks to go for a swim. Etc. etc. My list is long. The firepit was terrific and had lovely new Muskoka chairs and picnic table. I'm a single mom and I work hard to be able to provide my family with summer holidays together. We did our best to look beyond the deficiencies and I do hope improvements are made for future vacationers.

A Little bit disapointed
The location is exceptional but the owner said it is rustic. There is a difference between rustic and not maintained at all. I dont understand people Who has the incredible Chance to own a place like this and doesn't take care of it properly. If you don't mind spider web, poor matress and checking where you walk for head screw coming out of the deck then you are fine. and above all, hope for the wind to keep going to avoid the smell of septic tank. But the view and the Lake are really awesome. Peaceful and quiet place. Need major repair and it would be great

A great place for a short getaway
I must start by saying me & my 3 friends rented this property for my birthday weekend getaway which was for 2 nights and we had a good bonding time away from our day-to-day responsibilities. The property is located right by the water & across the road there is more water. It was quite windy during our stay & being close to water made it chilly. We did get to see goose & swans lazing on the water. My friends & I sat outside on the lawn chairs & had long conversations & simply enjoyed mother nature. We also did a wine tour one day which was very enjoyable. We had a good time but will I stay here again - no. This is the constructive feedback part - the property is older so when we saw two little mice the first night of our stay we didn't make a big deal of it except make sure no food was left outside.. The hot water tank probably needs replacing because the hot water didn't smell right, the cold tap was alright. This is also another reason we didn't shower in the property. The same is true for the oven, even though it is clean it had a smell when we turned it on. I had called when the power got tripped & it was a quick fix to turn the circuit back on. So I got a quick response. If you are looking to stay with kids & longer this may not be the property for you. However, for our needs this property was sufficient & my friends & I had a great time! Thank you.

The view was amazing. The condition of the property left alot to be desired. The toilet leaked, 2 of 4 stools needed repair, the bbq had no utensils, the fuses kept popping, the windows rattled and let the cold in, the kitchen lacked clean safe appliances. The owners did come correct what they could but was aware of issues and commented that the building needed to be torn down and rebuilt. Still had fun in the county but would not recommend this property

The cottage was steps from West Lake. I can’t imagine getting any closer to the water. It was very private. The Cottages best feature is that they have two large patio doors and Windows one set in the kitchen and the other in the living room that overlooks the patio/water… that was beautiful. The fridge is a fair size and worked well. We used the oven and that worked well as well. We mostly used the bbq provided that worked exceptionally well. My husband was very impressed. They also supplied the propane. The kitchen was well stocked. Everything we needed was provided. Lots of hot water and the shower worked well. It was cute, well decorated and very clean. I would suggest they opt to upgrade the sofa but it served the purpose well. The have a large tv screen in the living room and one in each bedroom. However, we could not access the wifi. Apparently, accessing wifi in that particular area is also a struggle for the locals as well. So be sure your have ample data on your phone and HDMI connector to connect your phone to the tv if you want to watch your Netflix or whatever you would like; no cable or satellite tv connection. However, something to be said about unplugging for a few days… lol. They had books but I thought if they had a few board games that would have been nice… simple ole school type games out have matched the ambiance of the cottage. We had campfires nightly be the water which was beautiful. They offered a free pass to sandbanks which was a nice day excursion.

Very nice rustic cottage
We had a great time. If you are looking to relax and unplug this is a good place to do that. Great view. Place was clean. Some small issues. Don’t use the microwave, it trips the breaker. The stove has one burner that doesn’t work, and a couple you have to tap with the pan to make them work. I would suggest to the owner to get a good used stove to replace it. Wifi doesn’t work, but for us that was nice, connected with our kids. Overall we had a good stay. Host’s were quick to respond to us with any issues we had. I would suggest not going at the end of September though. Duck hunting season is open, guys were hunting across the street shooting at sun up. A lot of shooting. Still had fun with the family. Thanks to our hosts.

In renting this cottage, we were aware that it would be a simple, no frills kind of place and we did not expect much. However, we were very dissatisfied with the lack of minimal cleanliness of the place. There were so many spider webs (and spiders too!) in the cottage when we arrived, which would have taken 30 minutes to vaccuum before our arrival. The patio doors could not be locked and they would let water into the cottage when it rained. We were also not aware beforehand that the water was not potable. In addition, the water from the sinks and shower would drain directly outside onto the ground; a true risk for any lake nearby to develop blue algae!! All in all, it would not have been so disappointing of a stay if the basic criteria such as cleanliness had been met.

Amazing location and view!
We had a few minor hiccups but over all can't wait to stay here again! After reading all of the reviews I decided that the location was worth any minor problems there could be. Check in time is 4 and I had read 3 in two spots so we arrived for 3. The cottage wasn't done being cleaned until after 5. This was because the people before us had made a pretty big mess and moved around furniture so not the owners fault and not a big deal. 3 of the stove burners do not work (I believe this is mentioned in earlier reviews) the fridge is very old and has an icebox and for some reason it took a day and a half for our beer to get cold. Again we had a cooler and ice so not a big deal. The small beach was quite weedy (on the actual beach not in the water) and we wanted the kids to be able to play on it all week so we spent some time and cleaned it up....which we didn't even mind doing as it was a beautiful day and a beautiful view. The cottage does have electrical issues....when you use a few things at a time it blows a fuse, but it is an easy fix to just flip the switch. If you are going with other people make sure you are comfortable with them hearing you use the washroom. And the wifi did not work the entire time we were there. This was actually nice for us to unplug. But in case you need it for work, I would count on it not working. I know the connection is not the owners fault but my suggestion would be to not advertise it and if it works when you are there it is a bonus! I would also recommend a newer stove and fridge (even newer used ones) as it really is a fairly easy fix to some of the problems. Also there are bugs and some people complained about this in the reviews, but it is a cottage and they are to be expected and it did not bother us in the least. I love love loved that I could see the dunes from our bed and hear the water. The name suits it perfectly as it is a true beach cottage, 2 steps and you are in the sand and water. The lot was big enough for our friends to put their trailer (extra fee) and still have room for bonfire and yard to play in. We took advantage of the free sunset pontoon boat and discounts on other rentals and I definitely recommend renting a pontoon for the day and taking it to the sanbanks!! The kitchen was fully stocked with everything we needed and more!! The garbage and laundry offsite were not hard to find. If I could I would move here for the whole summer! We had a wonderful time and can't wait to go again!

Amazing View
We spent an amazing two weeks at this property! For the third year we enjoyed the views and amenities of this cottage on west lake. The views are incredible and we’re spoiled not only with a beach in front of the cottage but also passes to visit sandbanks (5 mins away). Our children (4 and 6) also enjoyed being able to play tag in the side yard. It was a great vacation and we can’t wait to visit again.

Will not stay again tried 2020 & 2021
This review is based on facts from my stay in 2020 and 2021 In 2020 the owner had to visit twice in a weekend to fix the toilet which was not flushing, 3 stove elements not working, water not attached to a pipe outside the cabin = water drain into the ground. Since that was 1 year ago I assumed all the issues would be corrected. In 2021 the cabin still has those same issues and even more problems: -Owner had to visit to fix the toilet again was not fixed issues entire weekend (same issue from 2020) -Fuse blew owner not available to fix (last day we were leaving 4 hrs later) -Sinks, shower still not connected to a pipe under cabin=water draining into the ground (video sent to owner) -Kitchen door has a frame without a screen so you have to keep the door closed due to bugs -3 elements on the stove don't work (same issue from 2020) -No wifi as stated in the contract (you have to pay for it) -Screens on patio doors do not close (owner arrived and advised yes they fall off the tracks no resolution offered except "just keep the screens open") -Deck has a board that is raised 1+ inches causing a bad injury to my foot and one of the kids -Address left for the dump had an address of 32 Windatt Ln along with directions. This location is someone's home or rental property. Texted owner a copy of the map and the dump was up the hill from where we stayed (wasted time driving around) This cabin is all about the view. If you are looking for comfort this is not the place. I tried it in 2020 and 2021 and will not make that mistake again.

When we get there with family, owner said oh! We did know.
I think you can guess the situation. After driving 4+ hours with 60+ parents and 1.5 year old toddler after sending signed rental agreement a month ago, you hear something as the title says. Property owner refunded money, so they feel they are off the hook. Thanks to vrbo, they arranged hotel for us just to stay but our vacation was ruined completely.

Okay place
Not what we expected for the $$ - there weren’t proper walls separating one bedroom from the bathroom. Going to the toilet was not private. Even the bathroom door to the kitchen was slatted, so you could see and hear everything that was going on. Also, Cooking pans were dirty and unusable and wifi was not included even though the agreement stated it was. The bed we’re back breaking saggy. But the location and view are great with a walkout to the beach.

Great view but has some issues
For the price, this place is good for location and views but we definitely ran into some issues during our stay. As soon as we arrived the water stopped working. They were able to fix it temporarily but it went out again so the first night we had no running water and couldn't use the toilets. The owner said they'd be back first thing but didn't arrive until after we woke up later in the morning. They were able to get it started again and we didn't have any more issues with the water. The microwave also didn't work to heat up coffee, apparently, the fuses in the kitchen go down a lot. Obviously, you get what you pay for and we did enjoy the rustic feel of the cottage and the view was amazing! This would be a great summer home I just don't think we chose the best time of year to stay. The bed in the master was also very comfortable and the TV had Netflix so that's a plus!

Someone put park pass in garbage and owner was nice enough to allow it to be sent back in mail.
Beautiful place and view, will be booking it again. Great owners, any problems, they respond asap. Thank you for such hospitality.

Great location but...
The view from the balcony is beautiful & the cabin was nice enough but it did need some interior work done to it in regards to repairs. The fan in one of the bedrooms has exposed wiring & looks like it will fall off when turned on the high speed setting. The gap wall between the bathroom & the bedroom is also an annoyance. The interior of the property was clean but the exterior had a lot of things strewn about from previous guests I assume such as children’s toys. Overall, the location is nice but it could be so much better.
