Our cozy, clean, duplex style, country home, is located Pouch Cove, Newfoundland, a small town with its roots in the fishing and farming industries. Our vacation home is surrounded by an abundance of natural landscapes and has amazing ocean views. In the summer, when the trees are in full bloom, the ocean view is compromised but there are view points both within the house and outside the property. Myself and my husband, a middle-aged couple, live in the second side of the duplex and, although respectful of privacy, are available when requested and do our utmost to ensure our guest’s holiday experience is filled with positive memories. Visitors to our area are impressed by the lack of industrial noise and the pleasing fresh country air, beautiful views, and friendly residents. Also, because Pouch Cove is located just 20 minutes from the city, we are perfectly situated for guests to experience Newfoundland’s unique urban and rural cultures. Our vacation home offers in-lane, parking immediately adjacent to the private front entrance. There are no other homes within direct contact to the home. Mature trees form boundaries along the distant perimeter of the property and flowering plants on the side border add distinction and color during the summer season. Just beyond the side border of property is a tall hill from which one can see amazing views of the horizon, ocean, shoreline, and a large portion of Pouch Cove. Our vacation home has a huge, enclosed, 3 section, patio with an amazing ocean view. In the summer season, the patio is outfitted with a 4 burner, family sized, propane BBQ and an assortment of patio furniture. The house’s interior is cozy and captures the feeling of outport living. Murray House Vacation Home features 2 bedrooms (one with a queen bed; the other a double). We are pet friendly for small, non-destructive, pets. Furnishings inside the house include a portable air conditioner, washer, dryer, fridge, stove, microwave, countertop dishwasher, 4 slice toaster, Keurig and drip coffee machines, pots, pans, slow cooker, dinnerware, utensils, bar height table with 4 chairs, 2 full sized reclining sofas, an end table with accent lighting, 55-inch flat screen TV on an electric fireplace, and, in each of the two bedrooms, a double bed, 48-inch TV on electric fireplace base, and a computer table with 2 chairs. We have a whirlpool tub / shower. Cleaners, detergents, linen, shampoo, 4 rolls of toilet tissue, and 2 rolls of paper towels are included at no extra charge. We subscribe to high speed wi-fi internet and a large assortment of cable television networks including many movie networks and Netflix. For day trips and sight-seeing opportunities, there are two rugged hiking trails, part of the East Coast Trail, about 5 minutes in either direction from our home. Be sure to keep a watch for icebergs, whales, and ships, and other ocean attractions which, in season, are commonly seen in our coastal waters. Birdwatching enthusiasts will appreciate the many species of songbirds and ocean birds that make Pouch Cove their home. The migratory pattern of birds welcomes different species during different seasons of the year. Be sure to keep a well charged camera to capture the essence of your amazing, well-deserved, vacation. The house had everything we needed and the hosts were so knowledgeable and available to talk to. The location is close enough to St. John's to travel back and forth with ease but far enough away to give a sense you are no longer in the big city. The view from the back deck and side yard is stunning and there were plenty of birds feeding while we were there. Sandra and Phil were very welcoming and gave us a tour of the house. Instructions for everything (tv,dishwasher,etc...) were posted for us. Cupboards and fridge were stocked with food and supplies. Beautiful view of the ocean. Patio was fenced off for our dog to wander. All kinds of bathroom amenities. Sandra and Phil thought of everything! Outstanding hospitality! In a class of its own. We were a party of 5 (2 adults and 3 teenage children). This is more than just a holiday house, it was our home away from home with every modern convenience! Hosts are gracious and anticipated every little detail of what we might need. Advice to future guests who plan to use the kitchen: check the well stocked pantry BEFORE your trip to the grocery store. You might not need to buy a single thing. We home cooked about half of our meals and sometimes dined out. We enjoyed movies on the many big screens in the evening, and day trips to Signal Hill, Cape Spear, beautiful Brigus (starfish in the sea at the monument, near the Tunnel), Petty Harbour (there is a mini hands-on aquarium), and Bay Bulls (bout tour to the Puffin colony at Witless). There is a Wed/Sat farmers market in nearby St John's with locally grown produce. You will probably have a rental car anyway, so why not stay on the coast while you are here? The property is situated is such a way that you have spectacular views of the coast including sunrise and sunset. In addition to the two bedrooms, the living room has a reclining sofa and a futon that folds flat. The Murray home is attached to the home where Phil and Sandra live and they responded to the few questions that we had in minutes (if not seconds). Felt like home. Was home. What a scenic spot! Sandra and Phil are wonderful hosts and go above and beyond in looking after their guests. I couldn't believe the amount of foodstuffs, towels, blankets etc that were provided. All the rooms are very comfy and cosy. There is a beautiful washer and dryer with everything you need to do laundry which is very helpful when you're trying to travel light. The deck overlooks the cove and we got some pretty views from there. I would not hesitate to recommend this VRBO to anyone looking to spend time in NL. It's only about 30 minutes from St. John's. Both my husband and myself were very glad that we were able to stay at Murray House. It was very clean, comfortable and well stocked with staples, like food, water, dishes etc. Sandra and Phil were very helpful and very friendly, and made us feel at home. Pouch Cove is only about 20mins, drive north of St. John's, which is great and close to the Trans Canada Highway. Would hopefully like to go back to Newfoundland someday as there is so much to see.
