The Place Positano and the surrounding towns are built into cliffs and very hilly. Anywhere you go is going to involve somewhat of a hike– either to up or down. Our villa is in the center of town in Positano and from there can walking uphill or downhill to whatever places you were headed. You can easily reach the Pier and the beaches (10 minutes) walking through the old stairwells of Positano, the ‘scalinatelle’ ( little streets consisting of narrow stairways and steps). This is something not to be missed! Climbing down the steps, passing by the most visited places by tourists, you will discover and unveil enchanting angles of Positano, and then, once you have visited all the little streets by foot, you can always get the local shuttle bus to reach our location. The villa is well maintained and clean. Having laundry on site is a big plus as is dishwasher and good wi-fi. Gaetano is excellent and any issues addressed quickly and he also helped us with van transfer to and from villa to make this a seamless experience. We simply loved Positano and the surrounding areas of Capri (via ferry), Sorrento, Ravello, Amalfi and Naples. It was a lovely visit and we highly recommend this beautiful villa with amazing views and amenities. Gaetano is excellent to work with and is very responsive to all questions and issues. In addition to the vanity areas in the bathrooms there were mirror areas in each bedroom which came in handy for four women traveling together. We have previously stayed at other lovely properties, but this year needed a place with fewer steps. This villa fit our needs—just about 25 steps up from the street. The owner Gaetano is wonderful! Our villa kitchen was fully stocked with items to make our visit enjoyable. And there’s even a clothes dryer in it! That’s a European first for us! This villa is the lowest level in a big complex including several studios, another villa with st least 2-3 bedrooms and the top two floors which are Gaetano’s home. So there was a fair amount of foot traffic alongside our porch where we frequently sat to enjoy the view. It didn’t bother us but some folks might feel uncomfortable. Although this villa is rather high up the single, one-way serpentine road, there are still plenty of restaurants, bodegas, a pharmacy within easy walking distance. We walked DOWN to town each day. After all, we needed exercise after all the yummy food! However, we opted for the local circulator bus to come back up the very long, winding hill. I love that bus! Full of lovely people of all ages. The view from the living room and terrace was amazing. It was wonderful having 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms for my family. The apartment was just as we expected, very clean. The host had snacks and drinks for us, which was very nice. Gaetano met us when we arrived and showed us everything. He also booked cars for us to and from the Naples train station, which was helpful. We went during mid-March, before the busy season. Almost everything was open, but it was not crowded at all. We didn’t have to make reservations at any restaurants. I definitely recommend visiting at that time of year. I heard it gets horribly crowded in the summer. We took a boat ride tour to Capri, which was the highlight of the trip. Get ready for lots and lots of stairs! I wouldn’t bring little kids. My kids are 13 and that was perfect. The town is perfect for exploring. Not everything is listed on google maps. Some things you just need to find. I can’t wait to go back!!
