The Isola delle Correnti and Carratois beach in Siracusano are the last southern tip of Sicily, the southernmost tip of Italy, because the rounded island is connected to Carratois beach by a thin strip of land , which in low tide days makes it a real peninsula. Outside the traditional routes of mass tourism, it is exposed to the four winds and its banks are not so difficult to gain since the depth of the water does not exceed one and a half meters. On the rocky surface of the island dominates the old structure of the lighthouse now in disuse together with a few houses, between the scarce vegetation consisting of wild leek, capers and bushes of Mediterranean scrub and the numerous seagulls that appreciate it as a resting place. The beaches of Portopalo continue north-east, up to the island of Capo Passero which faces the coast, which has always been a privileged point of observation of the coast. The Fortress of Charles V stands in fact on the highest part of the island, built during the Swabian-Aragonese period to spot any Saracen ships that approached the earth. The lighthouse tower emerges from one of the four corner towers. Access to the sea caves of karst origin, such as the Grotte del Polipo, which can be visited by boat around the island, can be distinguished in the slightly higher sections of the cliff. The seabed around the volcanic rock lends itself to underwater exploration, as well as the submerged cavities of the Bathsheba Cave and the Emphasis Cave. Punta delle Formiche in Carratois beach is made up of a curiously shaped tip of sandstone, flanked by a strip of beach with very fine sand set among white rocks and a cobalt-colored crystalline sea. From here you can admire a splendid panorama, especially at sunset, which also embraces the Isola delle Correnti. It is in fact located between the Amber Coast and the Isola delle Correnti, and is accessible from an internal road even if you get there more easily by sea. It is said that the name "Punta delle Formiche" is due to the particular arrangement of the rocks that extend from the mainland towards the sea gradually decreasing in size, as if to form a small column of ants. The single-family house is located in an "oriented natural reserve" on an independent lot with direct access to the beautiful Carratois beach and spectacular views of the beach and the Isola delle Correnti; it enjoys excellent cooling and natural ventilation thanks to its direct position on the sea. The house has a private internal parking and a garden with a large organized veranda with lounge and dining area, barbecue and shower outside the house in the laundry room. Located all on the ground floor, it has: open-plan living area with lounge-large sofa bed, kitchen, dining room, bathroom sleeping area with double bedroom with bathroom and a bedroom with two bunk beds and a single bed. The mattresses of the beds and the fixtures are new, Laundry room with washing machine. Can accommodate max. 6 people. Air conditioner, all rooms are equipped with fan, the house still enjoys excellent cooling and natural ventilation thanks to its direct position on the sea. Free unlimited fast wi-fi internet. Having direct access to the beach, it is ideal for an all-sea holiday with maximum freedom. Carratois beach is one of the most beautiful and unspoiled on the island and is the southernmost of Sicily. Bordered by a cord of dunes, it has an equipped area and a large free portion for nature lovers. This stretch of sea is very suitable for children as it slopes very gently without dangers and currents. Guest access The whole house and garden are exclusively available to guests who can have all internal and external spaces. Im Garten (sandiger Untergrund) sind 3 bequeme Liegestühle zur Verfügung. Ein selbst bemauerter Grill und Grillkohle waren vorhanden. Zur Begrüßung haben wir super Dolci, eine Flasche Wein, ein Badetuch, -tasche und wasserdichten Beutel geschenkt bekommen. Das Haus ist zweckmäßig eingerichtet. Leider ohne Spülmaschine. Auf der großen Terrasse befinden sich ein Esstisch und so was wie eine Sitzecke. Es gibt eine Bar am Strand, die ein sehr eingeschränktes und teures Sortiment hatte. Lieber den eigenen Kühlschrank nutzen.Die Lage ist sehr abseits, d.h. es gibt Nachbarferienhäuser, aber sonst nichts. La maison donne sur une belle plage de sable fin pas très fréquentée. Si la chaleur vous accable la mer est là pour vous rafraîchir. L'accueil de Salvatore a été exceptionnel, avec des produits délicieux, surtout un grand merci pour sa prévenance et sa disponibilité (nous sommes arrivés trés tard). Essendo in riva al mare la casa ha una buona ventilazione (grazie a questo siamo riusciti a sopravvivere nonostante un guasto al condizionatore). Die Lage direkt am Meer ermöglichte uns unvergessliche Sonnenuntergänge und entspannte Tage am Strand. Obwohl die Ausstattung einfach war, hatte das Haus alles, was wir brauchten und war ausreichend komfortabel. Der zuvorkommende Vermieter sorgte dafür, dass es uns an nichts fehlte und stand immer für unsere Fragen bereit. Sein herzlicher Kontakt zu uns machte unseren Aufenthalt noch angenehmer. Mitten in der Natur gelegen, konnten wir die Schönheit Siziliens in vollen Zügen genießen. Man hat allerdings keinen Meerblick von der Terrasse/ aus dem Haus, aber man hört die Wellen. Alles ist sehr sauber, einfach und praktisch ausgestattet. Die Bettwäsche und Handtücher sind frisch und wurden nach einer Woche gewechselt, was toll war. Am Strand sind einige Beachbars, von denen zwei im Oktober noch offen waren.
