The room and staff at Boris Palace were wonderful and located nicely near all tourist highlights of Plovdiv. Couples on a romantic trip may find the bed a bit squeaky but it was our only complaint.

Lovely old building that is very well appointed and maintained. Had all the facilities we require although a small fridge would be an advantage. Great 'old town' location with restricted vehicle access and street parking that was not an issue when we stayed

Don’t miss your chance to stay here….truly amazing
This was one of the most fantastic hotels I’ve ever experienced and I travel a lot. My room was massive and the furniture was very ornate and gorgeous. I had my own balcony as well. The staff is amazingly kind and the owner Boris is unlike any hotel keeper you will ever meet. So warm, so kind. Boris treated us to a wonderful tour of the hotel which includes an amazing wine tasting center, wedding venue and night club. All of this is impeccably decorated and welcoming. The service extended beyond check out when the day AFTER we checked out, Boris secured us a car service from Plovdiv back to Sofia. I will always appreciate his hospitality and will be forever grateful for the experience Boris provided. If you stay get the breakfast.....and any other meal. The food is fresh, simple yet sophisticated and the views as you eat outside cannot be matched.

When we arrived we received a friendly welcome, information was given about how to use the hotel WiFi which worked well. Parking was offsite nearby and free, it was confirmed that breakfast was not included but available for additional payment.

In the heart of old Plovdiv
This is a small boutique hotel in the heart of Plovdiv's old town, within walking distance to all the major tourist sights. The room was comfortable and decorated in a traditional style. The TV only had Bulgarian programming, but I guess we were not in Plovdiv to watch TV. All in all, a comfortable stay right in the middle of everything.

The location in the middle of the Old Town is ideal. The rooms, service and food were superb. The proprietor and staff were extremely helpful and our stay at a competitive price represented outstanding value for money. We strongly recommend this hotel and would definitely stay their again

Quality facility needs modern management approach
This is one of the most interesting places I have experienced, in terms of location, facility and style of management. It is located in the old town area, harder to reach, but convenient to visit points of interest in the old town. The building/room structure and breakfast setting are very formal, generally with very good quality, but accessaries such as area rugs appear old. I thought it could be much more attractive if more modern management styles are adopted. Here are a couple items that I found quite different from most places I have stayed: (1) no water, water boiler, and coffee/tea packs were available in the room and I was not informed where I could find them if needed; (2) the setting of breakfast was very formal and nice (with tablecloth) with a very limited number of items (and quantity) served on the table, including a glass of water and a small cup of coffee/expresso. When I asked for more, additional glass of water was provided but was told additional charge would be imposed for addition cup of coffee. Interestingly, I noted that the manager on duty was enjoying cup after cup!

The hotel is in a very convenient location for exploration of the Old Town or the Kapana district. My room was over-decorated but comfortable, and very clean. The owner of hotel is abrasive but not unpleasant enough to ruin my stay.

Great location in the Old Town but extremely difficult to get there in a car as most streets are blocked. The real issue with the hotel is, as many other reviewers have also stated, the manager who is rude and hostile. I would avoid staying at this hotel.

Truly a palace in the heart of old town Plovdiv!
From the very start, Boris and his staff made us feel welcome in this beautiful hotel. The room was recently renovated and extravagant in decor. We were given a map of the Old Town and being that the hotel is located in the center of old town, we were able to navigate the area easily to discover the wonders of this ancient city. Highly recommend this hotel!

Our top was clean and comfortable and the hotel is in a good location. We were able to leave our bags while we continued to sight see after check out. They also helped us book a taxi. The only downside was when we checked in the owner was not happy I had changed my booking (sone weeks prior) to a lower cost room

Good hotel in old town
If you want to stay in the old town, this is a good choice. The facility is beautiful, my room was spacious and very nicely appointed, and the location is an easy walk to anywhere in the Old Town. Driving in and out of the old town is treacherous, so plan on walking a lot if you plan to visit historic sites outside the old town (which you certainly should) or join the Plovdiv nightlife. A couple of quibbles about the hotel: my bathroom faucet was loose (it rotated when I turned the water on), and the woman who serves the breakfast in the restaurant acted like getting breakfast at 8 AM was unreasonable (although breakfast was ready at 8 the next morning).

Great Location...but
I hate writing negative things, so let's start with the good, very clean, good sized rooms-although the economy rooms don't have windows. Great location in the old town of Plovdiv and the terrace is nice. However, the behaviour of the owner is erratic and not what you would hope from a hotel owner! We had a misunderstanding about a food order and he lost his temper big time, which made us feel very uncomfortable for the rest of our stay- very sad as it could be a wonderful place to stay.

Ancient history but very hard to find....
This hotel is almost impossible to find....google and Waze is not mapped for this area....and a good part of Bulgaria....but if you're driving and find it you will be rewarded; it's interior is beautiful and the rooms tastefully done....it is at the top of the hill in "old town" Plovdiv....and only steps away from ancient history...walking distance to many restaurants and pedestrian mall for many more restaurants....if you are driving a rental car hire a taxi (very cheap in Bulgaria) and follow him to the hotel, it may be the only way you can find the hotel....parking is free in a small deserted lot about a small block away....

Nice hotel , great area but it could improve.
The hotel is in the historical center of plovdiv, the decoration is nice, with a great view, and nice breakfast; but the room didn't had real windows which didn't help with my allergies, there was a funky smell coming from the bathroom and the air conditioner temperature control was locked. This hotel could be great with a better ventilation system in the lower level rooms.

One amazing place to stay
I was really impressed from this hotel! Starting from the staff, and personal meeting with the owner, and going through the entire hotel is one unforgettable experience ! The hotel is situated in the old town of Plovdiv. From outside is impossible to tell what is inside! And once you are in the impression of worm welcome is all over! The way how the hotel is build, the teraces, restaurants, small secluded places to seat, the furniture, and decorations, the real old Roman walls incorporated in the building, the wall pictures- I will say everything is overwhelming!

One of the best hotels on our trip. The staff was especially helpful in guiding us with our day trips. Vladimir went out of his way for us and took time to map out routes for our driving excursions. Good good, beautiful room.

It was a very good stay, great room, beatiful hotel and room! Everything pretty new. Perfect location also. The wifi was a little bad. It wasnt working most of the time. Havent use the restaurant. And the breakfast was made for 2. No buffet.

quaint awesome old hotel in old town
This hotel and Boris were incredible! Boris is the owner. The location is in old town Plovdiv and completely changed my impression of Bulgaria, Plovdiv, everything. The hotel has a check in beginning and ending time so we had to call the hotel to let them know we would be there late. It's because Boris owns and runs the hotel so he is not there 24 hours a day. He was an incredible host, and the hotel was so incredible! Free wifi, breakfast, everything felt so personalized.

A little gem!
A gem of a hotel in a gem of a spot. Plovdiv's old town is unbelievably scenic, and the Boris Palace is right at the heart of it. The owner is a wonderful host, the hotel is warm, friendly and spotlessly clean, and the food is top class. Highly recommended.

Found the hotel to be very clean and friendly, superb evening meal. All the staff very helpful. Although I was only in Bulgaria for one night, wouldn't hesitate to use this hotel again. The owner took a personal interest in his guests.

Be aware of hidden charges
The hotel makes an overall good impression, perfect location. However, we were surprised to find out that there were additional charges (for service???) on our bill, which were not included in the original price quoted on hotels.com when we made the booking. There was no explanation of why this was the case or exactly what these fees were for.

Fantastische locatie. Aardige mensen en zeer vriendelijk. Ik begrijp dat als je de deur opent en sluit voor elke gast gedurende de nacht dat je zonder goede slaap nukkig kan worden. Ik zou als eigenaar daar een ander slot voor verzinnen. Dit gaat echter niet zonder speciale vergunning omdat het gehele pand een beschermd pand is onder Unesco, lokale en nationale overheid. De kamers zijn uniek en bijzonder om die reden en voldoen volledig aan de moderne vereisten.
