This hotel is located at the core of the action in Playa del Carmen. Good service, from the valet parking and cleaning staff to the front desk and rooftop patio, everyone was super nice. The whole area is loud, but from our rooms it was fine and we slept well. Outside was another story at certain hours. Noise pollution in the city is high at times! We stayed at one of the suites. It was spacious, really nice and convenient since we were a family of 5 that needed two rooms. The full kitchen comes with nothing. I wished it came with utensils. It was too late when I learned you could rent stuff for a few hundreds. I recommend you ask the concierge. The nice thing about the hotel is that they leave you alone. Outside the hotel, be ready to be offered just about everything by local salespeople, multiple times a day.

The Fives Downtown is a great spot and is centrally located in downtown PDC. The only complaint I have is the hotel is so popular it seems to constantly host very, very loud events that take run very, very late into the night. The last time I stayed there it was a Thursday and they were hosting a drag show or beauty contest in El Tigre, a bar on the ground floor that lasted from about 8pm until 2 or 3am. The music and shouting coming from the event was incredibly loud and echoed throughout the hotel. This was exacerbated by the fact that our room was facing the courtyard and seemed to be amplified by the concrete surroundings. I had to work early on Friday and I was miserable. During this last visit, the hotel was hosting a private party on the roof and, like before, the event ran until about 3am and the music was deafening. I had to put my noise cancelling headphones on to sleep. I recommend this hotel if you have no issues sleeping through loud music and people shouting until the early hours of the night. The staff are very polite and professional, the food is delicious (but overpriced in my opinion), and the rooms themselves are very comfortable. I wouldn't recommend staying at the Fives Downtown if you are a light sleeper or have something important to do the next morning.

Perfect place! Great rooms, comfortable beds, amazing shower. There’s a full kitchen. Cable TV. Fantastic views, breakfast and is four blocks from the beach. The roof deck space is phenomenal.

First some positives clean, pool on the rooftop, kitchenette, close to beach ferry to Cozumel and ADO bus station good area. Now why i wouldnt come back 1/2 of staff out to fool you and lie all the time. First room strong insecteside smell, told me all booked got me small room no kitchenette made me check out in am no room until 4 pm would be 5 or6 pm if i didnt push. "upgraded me to the room i paid for but terrible views i booked inside facing 1 bedroom. Refused to give any credit for this. Rooftop pool is awesome and staff is nice but half of the time its "private party " booked for half of the facilities there

The hotel is nice but there were negative and unpleasant drawbacks: - There is music until 12 am and you cannot sleep because it is heard in the rooms. If you want to rest, you won't be able to. We filed the complaint and no one attended to it. finally we couldn't sleep well One of the two elevators broke down and going up or down the floors became chaos. They only provide courtesy soap and water the first two nights. then they charge it or you must take it
