It has it's charm, but it is very bare bones. I mean, bring your own wash cloths - bare bones. The rooms are teeny tiny. MAKE SURE that if you book here, you specify that you DO NOT want to be in the first floor room that is directly behind the check in desk and has no windows and interrogation room lighting. There is a great little Italian restaurant right down stairs that was actually pretty yummy. They put us in that weird little room but we complained and they gave us a much better room (#13, actually) upstairs that had a window and was way more cheerful. All in all, if you just want a decent place to lay your head while you're not soaking up rays at the beach or walking around town, this place is just fine. 5 minute walk to the beach, clean and inexpensive. Another tip, if you've never been to Playa - all the best restaurants are OFF of 5th (the main strip). If you are looking for an inexpensive stay (playa del carmen is expensive), then this is a decent deal. We went and visited other hotels in the same price range before deciding on this one. The rooms do have a musty smell to them which isn't great. But it does have AC, big king size beds, and nice cleaning lady. The shower is hard to keep at a desired constant temperature. For the price it is comfortable. If you are staying in your room during the day in playa del carmen there's something wrong with you. Its just a place to sleep. Very close to the tourist street and restaurants. I had to climb up on stand and plug my phone into a plug that was at roof level for the TV. There was nothing in room, such as safe, fridge, no closet. Senti que el personal no estaba capacitado para dar ni el minimo servicio al cliente. A very clean and well maintained boutique hotel with a very friendly staff from the receptionist to the cleaning lady all the way to the hotel manager. My room had a California King size bad that was so comfy I was sad to leave.
