Step into the old-world charm of Pittsburghâs famous industrial era in this turn-of-the-century, safe, clean, and comfy home. Perched above the city skyline, take in the unbeatable downtown view (which is particularly dazzling under the night sky) while being close to everything Pittsburgh has to offer.
The space is brimming with Pittsburgh culture, and the high ceilings and generous room sizes add warmth and homeliness. There's room to accommodate six people comfortably in the three bedrooms. You will also have your own private patio!
Ride your bike or take a walk in hip South Side to shop at fun and vintage boutiques, eat your heart out in trendy eateries, and dance the night away at nightclubs or local pubs. If youâre a history or archeology buff, youâll adore exploring iconic landmarks like the Cathedral of Learning, which you can see from your living room and bedroom windows.
THE LAYOUT: 1st floor - Living room, dining room, kitchen, and bathroom
2nd floor - 3 bedrooms (2 queens and a twin bunk), and a bathroom
Basement - This is where the washer/dryer and âPittsburgh Pottyâ are. Itâs very cave-like (yay old houses!), and we ask that your kids and dogs donât play down there. Note that we donât advertise having a washer and dryer because while they work great, theyâre pretty old, so not exactly a reason to visit, but theyâre available to you if you need them.
Patio - Gated outdoor dining and grill area under string lights
HOME TRUTHS: In Pittsburgh, when a hill is involved, things get weird! The road to the house is steeper and curvier than you may be used to driving. Thereâs free street parking, but the best spot will be right in front of the house via the curb ramp to the sidewalk.
We stayed at Melissaâs home as we were passing through Pittsburgh on a road trip. The home was beautiful, well decorated and very clean. The sleeping arrangements were perfect for our family of 5 (including a preschooler, toddler, newborn and dog). The communication with Melissa was great and I really appreciated that she let us know as soon as the home was ready for us in the event we needed to check in the early. The backyard space was really nice as well.
A couple notes - it is located on the hills on Pittsburgh so while walking to cafes, Riverfront Park, etc is possible, it includes a lot of steps and hills. The kitchen is stocked with basics but doesnât include more than a salt, pepper and sugar and we had half a roll of paper towels (only need more if you are planning on really eating at the house). And there are no toiletries in the bathroom. And the parking (as advertised) is on the curb which can be tricky. None of this impacted our comfort in the home but are things to be aware of so you can plan ahead!
This property was everything we hoped for. Melissa was extremely quick in getting back to us with any questions we had and even checked in with us half way through our trip to make sure all was going well.
The house itself was fantastic. Big bedrooms and living space. Centrally located to any destination you may be visiting Pittsburgh forâŠ.HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!! :)
Our family had an amazing time in the city and our stay at Melissa's place was great. She was quick to respond and followed up to see if we had everything we needed. Truly, she went above and beyond.
Beautiful home very inviting. The only drawback we had was maneuvering our car for curb parking. We did find parking around the corner later at night when the crew from a water main break moved their vehicles. Overall we had a GREAT EXPERIENCE and absolutely loved the house! Melissa is a great VRBO host!
