The hotel itself was fine. The night manager - Marco - was wonderful. He is interested in Etruscan culture and directed me to some very interesting sites. My only complaint - the rooms face a square where motorcyclists park. It was noisy until late at night, and closing the window was not a great option - no AC!

lovely *** old Hotel in old town
Ok. It’s not luxe but it’s central and v near car parking Very friendly reception- we remembered him from last year - and restaurant staff. Typical Italian breakfast, not special but adequate. Rooms fine but n.b. No A/C. A convenient fan provided

Nice hotel steps away from bus stop
Front desk staff (Marzia e Marco) was very helpful highlighting major sites to visit. All my questions and requests were addressed. Room was spacious and clean. Breakfast offered plenty to eat and drink.

Volterra is beautiful, I was out there for a friend's wedding which was spectacular. Albergo Nazionale was ideally placed, the staff were friendly and hotel keenly priced. Breakfast was basic but passable, my only real gripe was having stayed there for two nights both my shoulders were covered in insect bites. Given the wind and the hilltop location this seems unlikely to have been mosquitos, so I can only assume was bed bugs!

Very average 2 / 3 star
Very average low star hotel, with grumpy unhelpful receptionist on arrival. No aircon', one thin pillow each, no toiletries to speak of and parking consisted of underground public car park 'down the road'. After saying that, the room had some character, with vaunted high ceiling. Saving grace was the location, in a lovely little typical Italian town on top of the hills with stunning views. Lovely drive to and from a fantastic concert a few kms away in Lajatico. We would highly recommend the area - just be careful booking a better hotel if you want a bit of comfort...

We stayed here during August and since the hotel doesn't have any air conditioning we had to leave the window open at night to not feel stifled. This wouldn't be a problem except that our window was directly above the hotel restaurant's outdoor seating and there was a long row of motorcycle-only parking spots directly across the street. As a result we were treated to loud talking, dishes clanking, and motorcycles revving about every 20 minutes until the very early hours of the morning with no way to reduce the noise without cutting off our access to fresh air. Needless to say we slept horribly both nights. I would not recommend this hotel if you are planning to come during warm months where opening the window at night would be necessary. Also one day when we returned to the room after it had been cleaned my friend noticed that someone had gone through her bags. Nothing had been taken, nothing at all. But she is the kind of person who has a set place for everything and she knew that the items in her bag were not where she had left them. It gave us about 10 minutes of panic before we were able to go through everything and make sure that nothing had been taken. Other than that incident the staff were all very professional and helpful.

This hotel has a fabulous location, and the lodgings are comfortable and clean. The consearge however it not particularly helpful.

Volterra great place to visit
An old established Hotel as I would have expected in one of the Tuscan hilled Cities. The let down apart from our breakfast waiter was the lack of smiling people who were the mangement of the hotel.

Great Value, wonderful city
Excellent staff with great views and good value. Difficult and expensive parking with "free lot" difficult for walking and older travelers. This is a beautiful town and worth visiting.

Wonderful view from our balcony
We enjoyed our time at Albergo Nazionale. Staff was friendly. We had an upper floor room accessible by an elevator which kept us away from the student group. Breakfast was plentiful and good.

Wonderful town to visit
Best part of the experience was the location. Very easy to get to transportation and all the sites. I would stay here again, It was a little old looking but it was clean. The staff was pleasant and they tried to feed everyone at breakfast.

Fantastic hotel
The hotel is so close to the bus stop and the car park, which makes it easier for you to get to with your luggage. It is also literally next door to the Piazza del Priori and the Etruscan Metropolis, which I can see from my window on the 4th. Floor. The staff was very pleasing and helpful without too much fuss. Check- in was over within 2 minutes. The hotel has a wonderful atmosphere, and also some history. The English writer D. H. Lawrence stayed here when he was visiting all the Etruscan sites in 1927. The hotel is walking distance to all the main attractions in Volterra, and there so many wonderful restaurants nearby serving typical Tuscan cuisine. Had a really wonderful stay in Volterra.

Great location, reasonably priced with wi-fi and breakfast included.
This hotel is in a great location in the centre of Volterra. We went there for a wedding and the hotel was 2 minutes walk from the Volterra Town Hall. The rooms were comfortable and clean, and reasonably priced with wi-fi and breakfast included. One negative we found were the towels provided were quite thin, so if you have luggage space take your own towels with you!

Great location
Great location and easy access to shopping and restaurants. Hotel is comfortable although beds are very hard and tile floors are cold and amplify noise. Breakfast is good with plenty of room. Stayed there twice now and would go back.

Great location
This was our 2nd time to stay in this hotel. The hotel was fine, room was fine. Buffet breakfast wasn't great but we came back to this place as the location is brilliant, right beside the main square. The highlight was definitely the stunning view from the balcony of our room. Great value for money.

You have to pay for parking, but the underground parking lot is close to the hotel. The hotel does have an elevator and a restaurant. There is also a good restaurant next to the hotel.

Great if you speak Italian - but still good
This is a nice, convenient, and comfy hotel right at the entrance to Volterra. The included breakfast was generous in its choices and delicious. The staff was curteous but spoke little English -that's not actually a complaint. The bus stop is a few hundred feet away. Most rooms have pleasant balconies.

Struttura datata con bisogno urgente di manutenzione , L'unica cosa positiva era il materasso, abbiamo dormito bene .Anche la posizione dell'hotel e' perfetta è proprio nel centro di Volterra , peccato che sia così trascurato perché in passato doveva essere un gran bell'albergo . Albergo in pieno centro ristrutturato da poco ci siamo trovati veramente bene personale gentile e disponibile. Buona anche la pulizia. La nostra camera in più aveva un bagno molto grande con una doccia bellissima.

FORSE NON ERA LA GIORNATA GIUSTA ?
Nell'ordine: Ci danno le chiavi di un'altra camera già occupata, ci mettono in una camera mini con 1 letto, 1 armadio a muro e 1 tavolino con una sedia. Stop. Fuori dalla ns camera giacciono ancora i resti del lavoro dell'elettricista compresa la scala al muro. La televisione è inesistente: non funziona. Chiediamo almeno un comodino, ci arriva un altro tavolino. Il ragazzo alla reception capisce i disagi e si prodiga in 4. Ma la situazione è poco buona, il clima in generale è di grave disorganizzazione e poca esperienza. La mattina alla colazione per poter avere un caffè macchiato freddo ci sono volute diverse specifiche richieste. Tra cui la più esemplare: scusi il latte a parte dove è? risposta: ma il latte l'ho già messo io nel caffe ???? ma perchè ? per non avere altro da portare al tavolo ??? il costo della camera non è indifferente dato l'inesistente confort e servizio non offerto. La sera scendiamo per avere 2 bottiglie d'acqua: nessuno al bar, nessuno alla reception. Niente. Non è giornata. La responsabile dell'Hotel rivela un atteggiamento poco propenso all'empatia con il cliente. Pare interessata ad altre cose.....e quando la coda al check-out era imbarazzante dato il locale minuscolo della reception, alza pure la voce. Invece di essere d'aiuto.

Gentile Ospite, la ringraziamo per aver speso del tempo a recensirci. La camera da lei scelta Classic è di circa 17 mq, con letto matrimoniale, che su richiesta del cliente, può essere preparata a due letti. Dispone di un tavolino, con sedia, cassaforte, armadio e poggia valigia. L'hotel è stato ristrutturato da poco, la scelta stilistica degli architetti non prevede il classico comodino ma delle comode nicchie nella testata del letto. Gli arredi sono stati realizzati, su loro disegno, da artigiani del luogo. Quest'anno avevamo degli stagisti, alla loro prima esperienza lavorativa per cui molte richieste erano nuove per loro, ma di sicuro nessuno si è sottratto al lavoro e sono stati sempre prodighi d'attenzioni per il cliente. Sono spiacente per lo scambio delle chiavi, al suo arrivo, magari ve ne erano diverse sul tavolo, spesso c'è gran via vai tra chi entra ed esce e si è confuso. Sono certa che le avranno chiesto scusa per l'errore. Purtroppo abbiamo avuto dei problemi con elettricità e condizionamento, cosa che mi ha molto preso, come ha potuto constatare e fatto comportare un po' fuori dalle righe e gli elettricisti hanno impiegato un po' a sistemare il danno, lasciando in giro gli attrezzi per rientrare nelle camere appena il cliente fosse fuori. La reception, come evidenziato sui vari siti, chiude alle 22:00, il ristorante invece chiude intorno alle 23:00 oltre tale orario non trova nessuno. Spero vogliate darci una seconda possibilità A presto

Albergo in ottima posizione,parcheggio auto a pochi minuti dalla struttura. Personale gentile e disponibile, pulizia ottima. Camera semplice ma comunque confortevole, unica nota problematica un pò troppo caldo durante la notte.

Hotel in pieno centro. Abbastanza fatiscente e con il wifi inesistente, almeno all'ultimo piano. Abbiamo avuto la sfortuna di soggiornare insieme a scolaresche che non ci han fatto dormire tutta la notte!!

Siamo dispiaciuti nel leggere che non abbia goduto appieno del soggiorno. Quando ospitiamo scolaresche , siamo soliti raggrupparle sui medesimi piani separate dagli altri ospiti. Ci scusiamo se hanno comunque arrecato un qualche disagio. Il wi-fi è presente in tutta la struttura. Ad Hotel pieno possono succedere dei sovraccarichi

I made a mistake when choosing that hotel
Hotel ideally located. But that's all he has to offer. It is an old hotel with no charm, no real confort. Also, WiFi was not working and it was full with a group of young travelers making a lot of noise and shouting in the evening and morning. But this is just bad timing/bad luck.

Albergo comodo al centro di Volterra
La struttura è datata, piacevole trovarsi in un antico palazzo per quanto riguarda le zone comuni. Non lo è altrettanto nelle camere obsolete anche negli impianti. Molto simpatica e gentile la signora trovata al mattino.

COMODO. Albergo interessante vicino al parcheggio
Albergo interessante comodo è in centro e vicino al parcheggio e visto che è isola pedonale la vicinanza non è poco per caricare e scaricare la macchina dai bagagli. Camere senza infamia e senza gloria discretamente pulite anche il bagno unico pecca il materasso che forse era consumato in quanto si sentivano le molle!!!! Non è stato possibile fare la mezza pensione forse perchè ancora è bassa stagione ma forse meglio così ci è servito per uscire la sera!!!!

Gent.mo cliente, siamo fortemente rammaricati del disagio creato a tutti i clienti presenti in quei due giorni per noi di grande "sofferenza". Purtroppo crediamo che nella vita certe cose che non vorremmo mai succedessero capitano SEMPRE nei momenti di maggiore difficoltà, perché essendo VIGILIA DI PASQUA i tecnici non sono riusciti a trovare un banalissimo sensore che potevano cambiare in pochi minuti. Le proponiamo di tornare a trovarci per farLe dimenticare la "brutta" esperienza. Le auguriamo un ottimo cammino nella vita.

Tutto molto piacevole e rilassante. Volterra è bellissima “città di vento e di macigno”: si consiglia di leggere, prima, il “Forse che si forse che no” di Gabriele D’Annunzio.

Ottima posizione
Posizione splendida, centrale vicino a tutti i monumenti principali. Parcheggio a pagamento (15 euro per 24 ore) a breve distanza. Buona la colazione a buffet. Personale molto gentile. Albergo datato, arredi vecchi, pulito. Prezzo della camera a notte adeguato.

buonissima posizione.struttura vecchia e mal ridotta.in camera si sentiva odore di vecchio e puzza di fogna provenire dalla doccia
