Great area. Easy for transport
Piraeus is a typical port area - fairly dirty with an array of characters. Neither safe nor unsafe but I would suggest being a little more vigilant here, like in any port area.
We were only there for one night, got in late and left early.
Piraeus is a nice alternative to staying in Athens. Very close to the ferry port. Very clean and felt safe in the area. Lots of restaurants on the water and plenty of shopping nearby.
Pireaus is not for people who look for luxury. The hotel and the area offer great value to travelers who are independent and focus on experiences rather than superficial glamor.
