Soothing preserved rural setting, nestled on the edge of a bucolic meadow adjoining the wooded park of the prestigious neighboring castle (17th century building listed as a historic monument, now housing the very famous Écomusée de la Bresse). Nestled in the hollow of the verdant bocage valley of the Doubs on the first mountainous foothills of the Jura massif, Pierre-de-Bresse benefits from a magnificent preserved rural environment combining nature & agriculture, has many shops & services and offers a very good level of sports & leisure facilities (fishing lake with ecological leisure center protected in "Natura 2000 Zone" for the richness of its fauna & flora / "sports course" & "Parkrun" in the superb park of the castle / "Agorespace" etc ...). Nous avons été chaleureusement accueilli par les propriétaires. La maison étais très bien et il y manque rien. Il y fait très calme, avec une superbe vu et les commerces et le village sont tout pres. The only problem (internet access) was solved immediately. The early Monday morning market in Louhans is a must, with excellent and inexpensive local produce as well as traditional clearance lines. The setting is so much better than it looks on the website, with a relaxing country view towards the hidden chateau behind the trees, as well as nightly visits by deer in the field across the track. The fruit and veg presented by the owners was from the garden, where blackberries were in abundance to go with the apples! We were a small group of grandparents, and found the holiday had much to recommend it. Many thanks to Maryse & Philippe for looking after us so well. ##### Christopher W.
