This resort has a lot of potential but is far from the 5-star Westin standard we are accustomed to.
Firstly, this resort is in desperate need of some essential maintenance. The rooms are looking extremely tired and run down, and a number of the communal areas look like they have been neglected for a number of years.
Other things to note:
1. Our mini bar had to replaced twice... again, the fridges were probably 20 years old and couple cope with the heat
2. A number of the pools and communal areas were "under maintenance"... Some of the timber decking near the beach had nails exposed. Waiting to jag someone's toe...
3. Paths were extremely slippery (my wife slipped and grazed her knee when walking back from the gym because there was moss over the steps...)
4. The cabs are ridiculously over-price compared to what you pay if you hire a cab yourself.... A cab from the airport should be 450THB, yet the hotel cab driver refused to drive us for under 900THB... I ended up hailing a taxi from the hotel next door.
5. Restaurant staff were inexperienced and took forever to serve drinks. They also charged us for water and charged us for additional drinks when we had the "all you can drink" package... I couldn't be bothered arguing with the staff because they couldn't understand me..
Overall... really disappointed with this place. Wanted to cut the staff a bit of slack because of COVID, but I get the impression that management don't particularly care.
