The Neighborhood: The Historic Village of Phoenix is completely walkable and the heart of the Village is located on the Oswego River which is part of the Erie Canal System. Lock 1 is the first of the locks toward Lake Ontario. Watch boats as they enter and leave the lock to their next destination. The house is located on the river side of State Street which is only five houses from the Village center. There is a bakery, diner - Larkins, real estate office - Adolphi, coffee shop, bar-restaurant - Duskees, pizza - Cam’s, laundry, ice cream shop, hair salon, a convenience store-gas station, several churches, Lock 1 and Lock 1 Distillery. Where we live is becoming an emerging village and during the Summer there are many outdoor events including concerts to enjoy. Getting Around: There isn't public transportation to get around. The Village of Phoenix is walkable. During the NYS fair in August/September there are buses that will take you from the Village to the Fair. Other Things to Note: Riverfront Safety: Please be aware that the backyard extends beyond the final gate and leads directly to the Oswego riverfront. The Shark Shack (5th bedroom) and firepit are located past the fenced portion of the yard. If you're traveling with children or pets, they must be supervised at all times in the outdoor spaces and and around water. Pet Parents, we love pets! The small downtown and local distillery with amazing food and drink is within a short walk. The swim spa is great, even if you can't figure out the controls. The layout and details of the spaces are interesting yet groovy. The coffee bar was an unexpected treat. Would definitely recommend this property to anyone looking for a house with character and that loves amazing bathrooms. One note...there are cameras on many of the exterior areas of the house which is not in the listing. This property is clearly loved and taken care of. From the bamboo mattress covers to the high quality pool towels to the massive 3ft x 3ft oven- this property is stunning. Not a speck of dust anywhere. Meticulously washed bed sheets and comforters. Plenty of outdoor, brand new seating. The bathrooms are all recently renovated and updated. Our host, Tina, was an excellent communicator. The dipping pool was a comfortable 91 degrees. The outdoor space is so serene on the River. We had so much space, everyone had their own bed. The windows are all new and have perfect screens so you can open the windows without bugs getting inside and enjoy the breeze off the water while cooking or watching the expansive TV.10 min to the airport and 20 min to our daughter at Syracuse University. The heat in living room area did not work and neither did the fire place. The house really seemed to be under renovation and not ready for guest. There were carbon monoxide and fire detectors packages open in several rooms but not installed. If we did cook the stove did not have an exhaust. There were thermostats throughout the house but not sure if they worked. And the master bedroom porch was under renovation as well.The bathrooms are beautiful and provided excellent water pressure.
