The surrounding area feels super unsafe and thus I was holed up in my hotel for the entire stay. The room does not even have a telephone so room service could not be ordered. A fish and chips with beer at the hotel cost $45, far more than any developed country in the world. To make matters worse, despite having paid for my stay via Expedia with AUD, the hotel proceeded to charge me again on arrival but in USD instead of AUD. Was another headache to solve which I personally had to explain and help resolve and no one could work out why I was double charged. The staff member thanked me for the training which is totally absurd. Otherwise, the hotel and country itself should be totally avoided as everything is super expensive for a third world country. Fabulous hotel! We stayed here 2 years ago and returned as we were so impressed. Standards are just as high. Lovely, clean, modern rooms with everything required for your stay, including use of a local phone. The restaurant is equally wonderful (with an in house bakery) as are the staff who could not be more helpful. They helped locate the port we needed for our boat, as well as setting prices with Tuk tuks for us.
