I don’t usually write reviews. But this lodge was way out of my expectations. My experience with the lodge was fantastic. Every staffs were very nice and sincere. The energy vibe at the place was warm and welcoming. The food was AMAZING. The lodge only host 5 rooms. So It was very private. You could pretty much enjoy the entire property by yourself without sharing space.

The owners of the property were very warm and hospital. The room was spacious and had a nice African vibe. Braai for dinner was delicious. Highly recommended!

Great stay
We stayed at the lodge for 2 nights and enjoyed our time there. Sander was a great host, picking us up from the airport, as well as providing us for bikes to use to ride around and explore the area (within the Hoedspruit Wildlife Estate). We ate dinner at the lodge both nights, and the food was very tasty and we enjoyed the environment sitting outside.

Close to the airport and great access point from which to venture further afield - into Kruger NP, particularly if you have vehicle access. Sander and his wife and daughter (soon to add a son) were the most helpful and kind hosts a traveler could wish for.

We enjoyed our stay at African Rock Lodge. The owner couples gave us great suggestions for local attractions, driving routes and restaurants. The camp fire and braai dinner at the lodge was very intimate and nice.

Great Location
We have just returned from a fantastic stay at the African Rock Lodge .Found Sander and Juliet so hospitable and made us feel so welcome.They also were able to arrange different game drives for us .I can not speak highly enough about our stay in a wonderful Lodge set in a wildlife estate can not wait to return

fantastic place once we found it, a great and safe estate with wildlife,everything was fine staff were brilliant and breakfast was just what was needed the onlt complaint was with the game drive we booked with this hotel.

Great place. Really lovely braai is available in the evening and is very good value for money. Great breakfast. Wonderful service. Everything you could possibly need is in the bathroom. Real thought has been given to accommodating different needs. Be aware that this hotel is in a private game reserve so there are animals such as zebra, giraffe and impala wondering around. It is safe to walk in during the day but not at night. It is also away from local hotels so would need a car if wanted to access these. Thoroughly recommend.

The best tasting breakfast in my 20 day entire
The breakfast is not more or fancy but it was the tastiest breakfast of all the hotels and b&b we stayed at in our 20 days tour of South Africa.

Convenient , Access to Kruger Park & Local Area
We enjoyed our stay at African a Rock lodge. It was great to walk in the green belt area of Hoedspruit Wildlife Estate, lovely scenery. Our accommodation was perfect for what we needed and the breakfast that was served in the morning was delicious !

Comfort and value near Kruger
We only had one night here but the African Rock Lodge would be a great place to stay if you wanted to base yourself near Kruger or the Blyde River Canyon. Very relaxing pool and patio area. They did a really nice braai (bbq) in the evening for a very reasonable price.

Great Choice in Hoedspruit
Only stayed the 1 night but wish I could have stayed longer. Sander was a great host and the room was unique and charming. The hotel has a lovely setting, nice pool and great outdoor area to eat, drink and relax. Very comfy bed and a great shower. We had an evening meal and breakfast, both of which were excellent. The braai delivered many different cuts of interesting local meats but the beef fillet was exceptional and one of the best I have ever had. All in all a great stay and tremendous value for money. If I return to the area this is undoubtedly where I will stay. Finally beware of the Leopard in the grounds !

Great Lodge
Sander & Juliet are great hosts. Very welcoming and friendly. Their braai was great, the breakfasts were just perfect. Sitting on the patio in the bush having a meal, nothing beats that! The lodge is decorated with amazing African décor. Pool is great, our patio from our room was great to sit and watch nature. Well stocked mini bar. Peaceful and quite just what you want. Loved African Rock Lodge, will be back.

Great place to explore Kruger and surrounding area
We chose African Rock after reading many of the positive reviews that had been posted. We were not let down. The actual lodge is really well kept, clean, and with all the amenities you'd expect. What made the stay a real pleasure, however, was Sanders. He really went out of his way to make our trip (myself and my son) a success. He was really helpful in arranging trips and game drives, recommended restaurants, and even provided transport to and from local restaurants. I'm the time we were there, we saw all that we were hoping for and more. Can't recommend highly enough.

Eine ausgezeichnete Unterkunft, wirklich viel Liebe zum Detail, tolle Zimmer mit perfekter Ausstattung, großartige Gastfreundschaft mit viel persönlichem Kontakt. Das Essen war sehr gut. Allergien (Zöliakie) wurden mit größter Sorgfalt berücksichtigt. Wenige Gehmeter entfernt kann man zu Fuß auf eine kleine Safari in den Busch gehen.

Sehr netter Gastgeber, steht immer für Infos bereit und organisiert auch gerne eine Safari im Krügerpark. Das abendliche Barbecue ist sehr lecker und absolut empfehlenswert. In der direkten Umgebung können einige Tiere auf eigene Faust beobachtet werden. Insgesamt eine tolle Lodge mit einem guten Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis.

Não existe nada que não tenha gostado. Me senti em casa, longe de casa. Sander e Juliet nos abraçam como membros da família. O quarto é maravilhoso é super bem decorado, com atenção a cada detalhe. Já quero voltar pra lá!

Great stay at a erfect lodge close to wild animals
The lodge was perfect and situated great in a private reserv with wild animals were you could walk/ go with a car daytime. Rooms really clean and nicely devorated. Great breakfast and dinnerbuffe. The owner and the staff really nice. The owner booked great excursions for us. I highly recommend this lodge for among other things visiting the Kruger park and game drives.

Awesome Hoedspruit Acommodation
This place is a gem! The hosts Sanders and Juliet do a great job and truly offer an awesome stay with relaxed atmosphere. The room is comfy and clean. The breakfast is delicious. The activities offer by the lodge and performed by third parties have good cost-benefit. The location of the lodge is very good, close to the airport, main activities and to Hoedspruit few restaurants and shops. We were very glad with our stay and strongly recommend Africa Rock Lodge! Una fantastica esperienza.
Fantastica esperienza! Fortunato a soggiornare in questo lodge carinissimo e molto curato: stanza stupenda curata fin nei minimi dettagli, piscina gradevole dove potersi rilassare, ambienti comuni in pieno stile africano...tutto bellissimo e ben organizzato dai gestori che organizzeranno per voi ogni tipo di esperienza (tra l'altro il tutto a prezzi onestissimi!). Ottima la colazione ed eccellente la cena con grigliate di carne e tantissimi altri pietanze tipiche.

Formidable, hôte adorable (encore merci pour son aide dans nos galères), lieu magnifique au cœur d’une réserve où il y a une quinzaine de girafes et où les phacochères se baladent devant la terrasses ! Le braai le soir est un plus, excellent et convivial ! On a adoré cet endroit.

Sehr schöne Lodge und freundlicher Gastgeber hat viele gute Tipps gegeben und spricht sogar ganz gut deutsch. Super gutes Frühstück. Wir sind leider nur eine Nacht geblieben. Man hätte die Möglichkeit im kleinen, privaten Game Resort Wanderungen zu Unternehmen (keine gefährlichen Tiere).

Excellent. Un accueil extra, même sous la pluie, où le propriétaire est venu à notre voiture avec le parapluie. De très bon conseil pour le restaurant. Un petit déjeuner très bon où les phacochères sont venus nous rendre visite juste à côté de la piscine. Un moment inoubliable. Je conseille fortement !

A estadia foi maravilhosa. Estava cheio de expectativas e foram superadas com a beleza e calma do local e com a recepção dos funcionários que foi super acolhedora. Outro ponto chave é a limpeza desde os quartos até o restaurante, tudo muito limpo e bem cuidado. Gostamos tanto jantar que resolvemos comer no restaurante todos os dias. É feito na hora, comida deliciosa, típica sul africana e tem um excelente custo benefício. Voltaria a ficar lá novamente com certeza.

Nous avons passé un excellent séjour. Tout était parfait. Le lodge est magnifique, Sander, son épouse et toute l équipe est aux petits soins pour nous. Le barbecue un vrai délice. Erg leuke lodge in een semi-natuur reservaat. Kleine opzet met 5 kamers. Erg leuk en smaakvol ingericht. Sander deed een prima job als eigenaar. Erg gezellig en zeker aan te bevelen

Le meilleur hôtel de Hoedspruit
Excellent hôtel tout était parfait. L’accueil était chaleureux et nous a donné toutes les bonnes indications pour visiter les alentours. L’hôtel est situé au milieu d’un parc où il y a des animaux il est donc possible de faire des Safari en voiture à pied ou avec les vélos prêtés par l’hôtel. La décoration de la chambre est très jolie et très harmonieuse. La chambre dispose de tous les équipements nécessaires pour passer un excellent séjour. L’extérieur de l’hôtel est aussi très joli il y a une piscine chauffée. L’hôtel est situé dans un endroit très calme où vous pourrez prendre un très bon petit déjeuner. Le patron des lieux, francophone, est toujours aux petits soins pour que l’on passe le meilleur séjour possible. Il est vraiment très attentionné et veille toujours au bon déroulement du séjour. Le séjour à African Rock Lodge était excellent. Cet établissement est digne d’un étoilé.

Atende perfeitamente
Utilizamos o hotel por uma noite, quando chegamos de Joanesburgo. O hotel é muito seguro e fica em um condomínio fechado com segurança. A recepção foi rápida e eficaz. O Sander estava nos esperando e tivemos uma ótima refeição assim que chegamos. O quarto tem um tamanho normal e nos acomodou bem. Entramos no clima do Safari pois o local é decorado com temas locais. O café da manhã é simples mas atendeu nossa expectativa.

Utomordentlig service! Föreslog och hjälpte oss gärna att boka aktiviteter, körde oss var vi ville, städade rummen två gånger om dagen och de gick även upp tidigt på morgonen (05.00) före våra bokade aktiviteter för att se att allt gick bra. Säger mycket om den fantastiska servicen som de gav oss. Dessutom var frukost- och middagsbuffén underbar och hotellet självt magiskt mysigt. Bästa vistelse någonsin!
