"Gubbio - beautiful medieval town on the hill"
Gubbio is a wonderful town and the hotel was lovely. Guidance as to parking would be helpful because of traffic restrictions and difficulty of getting near to it. I would advise against this place for less physically able and less active people unless you forewarn the hotel you need assistance. There are two lifts to help with the hill. There's not enough room in the 'what could be improved' section (!) to say that in 2 weeks travelling around Italy - which has such good coffee - the only bad coffee was at the Palais Ducale. So bizarre when everything else was good! And we drink espresso.

"Close to the square in the heart of Assisi."
Several members of our family had booked rooms for a family wedding in Assisi. The staff were very helpful especially when one of our party had a mixup over a booking at another hotel. We would definately choose Hotel Alexander again.

"A step back in time."
Arriving in Assisi late one evening, we arrived at the front door to their office, and as promised, all was in perfect order. Opening the door to our apartment, we let our a gasp - it was magnificent! While we felt as though we were back in the 12th century with its decor, we had all the comforts of a modern hotel. Espresso maker, wi-fi, fully modern bathroom, two bedrooms (one in a loft), and a commanding view of the valley, all within walking distance to everything. Serena, the young woman who greeted us on our first morning there, and Dante, who provided us with an amazing breakfast and all the cappuccino we could drink, was charming. We were even able to get recommendations of personal favorite restaurants by other staff members, and the food in those eateries was spot-on. On our last morning, we were fortunate to be able to leave just a little later, having enough time for one last quick spin around Assisi before heading down to Santa Maria Degli Angeli and our next destination.

"Nothing to complain about"
7 min walk from the central square and 4 min from Rocca Paolina, right by the bus station (if you need it). Hotel parking is 11 eur/night. Good breakfast with fresh juice, but their brewed coffee is bad - should ask the waiter for an espresso or lungo or capucino.

I would recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a clean comfy place to stay. The free parking was on the street a block away. We booked the night before on line and had no problems. Lots of good restaurants walking distance from the hotel.

"The friendliest hotel in Perugia (certainly)."
It was my good fortune to stay at this hotel which made for a very enjoyable and happy stay. The hotel is a 14th Century building but despite this all the facilities are modern and in good condition. From the ivy covered exterior to the murals and medieval stonework of the inside the hotel has loads of character which sets it apart from its modern counterparts. It was like staying in a miniature stately home - how many hotels have their own font? Whilst the building and its location (just off the main street Corso Vanucci) are first-class it is the staff that make this hotel truly exceptional. From the very first minute to the very last minute of my stay the staff were friendly and helpful. All the staff were polite and always available and keen to help but without being obtrusive. My room was very comfortable and clean and had well-appointed facilities of a high standard. This also applied to the common areas; the reception area was appealing and created a good first (and lasting) impression, the reading room and breakfast rooms both have character and more than one of my fellow guests took a photograph of the latter during my stay. Even the corridors with their wood flooring were notable adorned by the small ceramic signs directing guests to their rooms. The hotel has a small roof garden terrace with some good views although November is certainly not the best month to experience this facility at its best. Perugia is a very interesting city with much to see and do and
