There is a community boat ramp very close to the house(2 min away) for putting your own boats and jet skis in the water as well. If you need to rent a pontoon boat,ski boat, or jet skis there is a boat rental company thats a 5 minute drive from our home. They will deliver your boat or jet ski to our dock free of charge if you mention our home. THE LAKE Smith Mountain Lake is a popular destination because of its natural beauty and endless activities: swimming, fishing, boating, tubing, waterskiing, wake-boarding, eating out at restaurants off the water and on the water, visiting wineries, listening to bands/music, hiking, mountain biking, putt putt, rock climbing, going to the movie theater - you name it and we've got it! We provide an owners guide book which provides complete information about where to go and what to do around Smith Mountain Lake. There are 2 national chain grocery stores close to our home- one is 15 minutes away the other is 20 minutes away. Wal Mart is 20 minutes away. There is a small market/gas station 5 minutes away. The lake has many restaurants and marinas on the water that you can boat to. We have always enjoyed boating to eat out on the water. You also can drive to many restaurants by car within 10/15/20 minutes as well. Like wine? There are many local wineries within easy driving distance to visit and enjoy. There are also lots of hiking and biking trails too. THE NEIGHBORHOOD Explore our lovely and safe upscale neighborhood with our 10 bikes. The neighborhood has an extensive road network and has very flat and gentle terrain for exploring. Our front yard has a gentle slope and is perfect for kicking the ball or playing croquet(set included). We do not allow pets in our home, but there are several boarding kennels nearby and we will provide this info if you need it. We also do not allow bachelor or bachelorette parties, as we want to preserve the integrity and quality of our home and respect our neighbors and our neighborhood. Smoking is also prohibited inside the home. Reminder -Full week rentals during the peak season(Memorial Day- Labor Day) should be Saturday-Saturday please. There were plenty of pots, pans, cooking utensils, plates and cups. I also liked the added safety feature of having a switch on the counter top that allowed you to turn off the dishwashers and garbage disposals. I did not have to worry about our grands accidentally turning on the appliances. We found the bedrooms, bathrooms and powder rooms to be well stocked with all the necessities for the week. We had one minor issue, we could not find the ping pong balls or balls for the pool table. The owners were very quick to respond and sent staff over to give us a supply. ##### Janice M. Owner did not have a pest control company rather he sent glue traps via Amazon. Never caught rodents. Outside porches and boat house area were filthy bird droppings ad spiders. This was our first stay at The Castle. It was in a great location, provided ample space, and many helpful amenities enjoyed by all. I reached out to the owner while there and he came by to address some things! He was super responsive to communications. We will definitely consider staying there again next year! ##### Austin S. My husband and I and another couple stayed here for a week and it was amazing! The pictures and description pale in comparison to the real thing. The kayaks and paddle board were a nice bonus. We all enjoyed the convenient boating access and swimming from the dock. Nice place, lots of space and rooms. The elevator was especially helpful for my 89 year old father in law. Great game room. Spacious kitchen and dining so works well for big group. Lots of time spent at the dock utilizing the kayaks and paddle board. The house is awesome. All bedrooms were comfortable. All bathrooms well equipped. The elevator made access to all the floors easy. Our family included toddlers all the way up to the elderly and there was something for everyone's interests. The kitchen is well equipped for large groups and meals, there is plenty of space for families to spread out, and lots of games/toys to keep everyone entertained. The house was wonderful, large enough for all 16 of us and for those to escape if needed. Easy access to the lake with a wonderful dock. Plus there is shade on the dock. An awesome Rec rm where hours were spent in the evening playing games, pool, ping pong. The Owners are so easy to contact and are wanting to please if you have any needs.
