We had a great experience staying in Piera and Paolo's apartment. They are the warmest and most hospitable owners I have encountered so far with VRBO. The accommodations surpassed our expectations. The apartment is clean, decorated with a lot of pieces from Orta. The kitchen is well equipped where we were able to cook breakfast every morning and cook dinner almost every night which was important to us since the World Cup was on at 8, every night. The dining room table accommodates 6 people . The beds were comfortable and the living room felt like home. The apartment is a stones throw away from the ferry to Isola di San Giulio, Orta, a Gelataria (the best gelato) and 3 restaurants. There is a small market across the street run by a husband and wife who speak a little English. There prices were comparable to the supermarkets in the area. It also a 10 minute drive from 3 private beaches which are Miami, Luci and Lodi (it has a spring diving board built into the water. Great for kids and the young at heart). It's a 5 minute walk to the public beach which is good alternative to the private.
There are two beautiful churches near the apartment. Down the main road going towards San Maurizio is San Filiberto which is close to 1,000 years old. It also has the stations of the cross outside surrounding the church. The second church, San Albino, is up the street on your left. Go on a Sunday so you can hear the choir. They were magnificent.
The neighbors were extremely friendly and helpful. Make sure you meet Mario who is 92 years young and his family. They will quickly make you feel like a part of their family.
We hope to return and stay again at Piera and Paolo's. You won't regret it. I miss them already.
