Weekend break
Had a lovely couple of nights away, really enjoyed the pool with our 6 year old. Staff were all lovely, couldn't rate them more. Wine is extortionate though! It's dog friendly so first time we've taken our two with us to a hotel, everyone loved them.

One bad apple
Room are nice, spacious, clean but dated and also in need of a little maintenance. The bed is extremely comfortable which is also a bonus. The front of house team are very helpful and the cleaning team do a fantastic job. My only negative experience was the poor attitude of the leisure manager who seems to think its acceptable to apply double standards within the gym/spa facilities. Disappointing.

The Best Time
Fantastic honeymoon trip. Food was excellent and golf was fabulous. Overall a very memorable trip and it couldn’t have been any better. Nice touch giving us a glass of Prosecco with our first meal as we were just married!

Maybe the golf is really good?
This is the most expensive hotel (yes really) I have every stayed in anywhere in the world and it is no better than a Travelodge. The service at breakfast and in the restaurant is poor and like a comedy sketch, the building and rooms are tired and the bathroom mouldy around the shower.

The staff were really friendly and really good at their job however, the hotel itself was lacklustre. Our room was long overdue a lick of paint and the pool desperately needed retiling in places with bare patches of concrete exposed.

The images are deceiving. The property is extremely dated, dirty and smells terrible. Our bedding literally smelt like putrid sweat. The property is not in a remote setting, it is in fact on a busy main road. When we arrived, we were placed in what felt like the basement with windows that were feet away from the busy road, certainly not worth what we paid, which was exorbitant! After complaining, we were put on the golf side of the building, and on the first floor, where our bedding and hallways smelt awful. There was mould growing in the bathroom on the walls and ceiling, some sort of cream or gel from the previous occupants had not even been wiped off the walls, nor their hair vacuumed or wiped off the sink. This is the worst misrepresentation of a hotel I have ever seen in my numerous years of using Expedia and travelling to numerous countries. To see images, find my Google review.

Great staff but hotel showing it’s age.
Excellence service and staff very helpful. Hotel is defo starting to show its age. Needs a good bit work done.Rooms comfortable but old fashioned and the bathrooms a bit grubby. The spa was a nice to chill for a few hrs in the pool and sauna. Breakfast was good with plenty of choice. Drinks in the bar are quite expensive, around £7.50 for a pint. Not much around the hotel. You will need a car to get about. We did walk along the river to Peebles but it took around an hr and was about 3.5 miles. The hotel has lots of refugees living there. We won’t return but we don’t usually do the same hotel twice anyway.

Nice hotel in good location
Stopped over for 1 night to meet friends in Peebles. We have been coming here for many years. Nice hotel, staff also very nice. Only one complaint was that my room was pretty cold and the room heater is not adequate as the rooms are quite big. Will definitely be back though.

Good locations but needs renovating
Ok stay for business, nice quiet location next to the river tweed. Hotel was dated but fairly clean. Needs some money spending on it. Drink prices are far too high. WiFi is average Radiator in room is old and didn’t work very well.

Great hotel will benefit from a little update
Front of house staff was great there has been confusion with my booking and they sorted it out very politely. The room shows ittle signs of wear - dented walls, damp ceiling in the bathroom. We were in the room for family of 4, the added beds are very saggy but ok for kids. We love the water fountain with both sparkling and normal spring water.

Mixed experience
Hotel was a bit tired. Some holes in walls, bits missing from the shower controls( which didn't seem to reduce temperature). Didn't seem to use enough local produce and their didn't seem to be enough staff at any time with staff having to double up from reception to serving breakfast. Spa staff and spa were excellent and gym / pool were good. However, the hotel just needs a bit tlc and some more staff. Breakfast was average which made us decide to have dinner in Peebles ( Crown Hotel food was excellent). Overall a mixed experience and we might try elsewhere next time.

Won’t be back!
Very disappointed in our stay. The bedroom was very ‘tired’ with dirty marks on the walls and ink stains in the arm of the sofa! Dinner on the first night was very nice and served promptly however things went quickly downhill from there. After ordering the full cooked breakfast (which the waiter said was an easy option) we then waited 35 minutes to be served and it was only after I questioned a member if staff that it was actually served. Dinner service on the 2nd night was a complete fiasco. We sat down at our table at 7.45 and ordered food and wine! At 8.35 I had to go to the desk and ask where our food was. The reason for the delay was given as….well you didn’t order a starter!! Finally got our food at 8.45 and the bottle of wine we had ordered was then complimentary! Then to crown it all the bar had ran out of our favourite liqueurs!! Breakfast on the last morning was very nice and served promptly by the lovely Housekeeper/Server Carol who was so pleasant and helpful…she is a great asset to the hotel!
