Water was too low for kayaking but the house was very roomy and comfortable. It is as the pictures depicted and the area is extremely quiet. Even though it ended up being only 3 of us staying the house could easily sleep10 as advertised - we stayed there because of a family reunion at my sisters in Blacksburg which took about 40 minutes to get to her house. They also enjoyed watching the cows across the creek. We hiked the Cascades Trail, and the trailhead is a short drive from the house. Great location to go hiking (Cascade Falls is one) and fun places to eat (many where you can also take your pets). The local bakery, Sugar and Flour, had delicious coffee and treats and the owner gave us free cookies to enjoy on our travel home. The location is very quiet and peaceful – during our stay we saw an otter family, bald eagles and deer. The house is very comfortable and well equipped. The living room has comfortable, plentiful seating. Mattresses and pillows are comfortable. The kitchen is well equipped and helpfully includes many spices, oils and other basics. Additional fun amenities include the pool table, large deck with plentiful seating and charcoal grill, river access, kayaks/floaties/folding chairs, fire pit, board games, and DVDs. It’s an easy, 40-minute drive to the VT campus. Entry code is convenient, no need to worry about a key. The host was very responsive. Some minor negatives are dirty floors in the basement (just need to be mopped), broken pinball machine, and no cell service (but wi-fi worked fine). House has beautiful decorations but unfortunately common house items that either need replacing or fixed.Kitchen chair was broken,along with the bed broke on the first floor on my 3rd night. We had a issue with locking the bottom lock and got locked out.I had to go up the stairs which were very hard for myself to unlock the front door. This was resolved but i had to call the owner who gave us a quick response.I didnt realize their was a old bridge that was right outside the deck which was a eye sore.The fire pit was awesome and Tyler the (neighbors dog) gave us a visit which we enjoyed.It was easy access for the front door.We enjoyed the porch swing and it was a really nice house.I dont think i would rent again due to we are older and we would have loved to fish but to steep.I do think this house could be perfect for a family who isnt disabled like mine.Finally like i said we really enjoyed Tyler and the fire. ##### Cynthia L. Highly suggest installing a motion detector for night time arrivals. The roads to get there are very curvy, wish we had started earlier to get past the traffic to drive the roads in sunlight verses night. We saw lots of deer, opossums, ground hogs, raccons, and foxes. The house was great! Everyone slept great ! We have some young grandkids so the pool table made us a little nervous. We all thought a pingpong top on the pool table would be great to give a variety to games. Wi-Fi worked great. The fire pit was petfect addition to our evenings and having the firewood there was handy. The weather was awesome. The deck made the perfect outdoor setting to read just like the front porch swing. The kids loved all the stuffed animals on the walls in the basement. Kitchen was very well stocked with items. We bought groceries in Blacksburg at Krogers. We went to Sinkland Pumpkin Patch.We were very surprise at the live music, all the different types of food and drink there. Sinkland had a trail ride with rescued horses. The Bug Fest was very cool especially for all ages. They had a lot of ingeresting exhibits! The location was great to do all the activities we did! Beds are all comfortable, and the location is good for fishing Walker Creek and the New River. And the local friendly dog came every evening to hang out.
