Enjoy magnificent views of mountain peaks, glaciers and forests as you ride this record-breaking gondola. Explore hiking trails and spot alpine wildlife.

Marvel at the breath-taking natural landscapes of British Columbia while riding the Peak 2 Peak Gondola cable car. Admire this engineering masterpiece at a viewing gallery, hike across alpine trails, spot mountain wildlife and dine at mountaintop restaurants. The Peak 2 Peak Gondola travels above Fitzsimmons Creek between Whistler Mountain and Blackcomb Mountain. It holds two Guinness World Records, one of which being its vertigo-inducing highest point of 1,427-feet (436-meters).

Step aboard one of the modern cable cars for an 11-minute ride between the two mountains. Gaze out at the panoramic views of alpine villages, cedar forests, lakes and towering peaks. Peer down at skiers and snowboarders traversing ski runs and at hikers and mountain bikers exploring trails. Wait for one of the silver glass-bottom gondolas for the best views of the valley below.

Disembark at the mountains to visit viewpoints and superb photography vantage points. Find a range of restaurants, which overlook the valley, have alfresco dining areas and feature live entertainment. Hike some of over 31 miles (50 kilometers) of trails that pass huge glaciers, perfect-blue lakes and fields of colorful wildflowers. Keep an eye out for wildlife such as bears and deer.

Don’t miss the chance to see the Peak 2 Peak Viewing Gallery, located on Whistler Mountain. Walk on an elevated glass walkway and get a closer look at the gondola’s record-breaking construction. Watch videos that showcase the gondola’s evolution and its impressive feats.

The Peak 2 Peak Gondola is part of Whistler Blackcomb ski resortOpens in a new window. It has terminals on Whistler Mountain and Blackcomb Mountain. Get to the terminals by riding the Whistler Village Gondola or taking the chairlifts that lead to Blackcomb Mountain.

The gondola is open daily, except for periods of maintenance, when it opens on weekends only. Hiking trails open progressively during the summer months, as the snow disappears. Check the weather conditions before visiting and dress accordingly. Complete opening hours, admission fees and discount details are available on the official website of Whistler Blackcomb ski resort.

3/5 - Okay

I imagine it is INCREDIBLE, but the reason I said "OK" is because the mountain was completely covered in fog, and you could barely see in front of you to walk safely, let alone the supposed stunning view. We'd purchased our tickets in advance for no refund, and the forecast had said sunny, so that was disappointing.

You can go back and forth between peaks as often as you like but once you return to the base you can’t go up again.

The gondola ride is 30 minutes each way, plus another 10 minutes to cross the canyon to Blackcomb. There's a cafeteria-style restaurant at the top of Blackcomb and a small gift shop. The view is spectacular. I've never done any of the hiking trails up there but I'm sure they're equally splendid. The "glass bottom" gondola isn't a glass floor, as many people fear, it's just a square segment of the floor, cordoned off so it can't be stood upon. That section is glass so riders can look straight down at the canyon if they choose to. The rest of the floor is normal. It's not at all scary. That's the good news. The bad news is that it's really expensive if you're just going up for a one-time visit. You can't buy a single-use ticket; they only sell day passes. A day pass is $69 for an adult so very expensive if you're only going up for a look or for lunch. It's also fairly expensive at the restaurant and everything closes at 5 PM, even in the summertime. If you're a one-time visitor to Whistler, and you can afford the day pass, I would highly recommend this little adventure. We've been up twice and probably won't go again. It's just too expensive.
