My late arrival could have caused problems but he patiently waited and walked me through the ins and outs of the studio. The bearer and joists are massive oak timbers hundreds of years old. It’s in a great location in the Marais: walking distance to many places of interest. Plenty of cafes and restaurants nearby. The kitchen is nice and the fridge is much bigger than I thought it was going to be. We loved the location. Starbucks right around the corner was great! We didn’t hear any street noise during the night. It's close to good food, to Notre Dame and is as close to 5 stars as it could be. While my first impression was that the space was smaller than the photos make it look, that just makes me impressed with Paul's photography skills. The apartment had everything we needed and was a great base for our four nights in Paris. Paul was a great host, meeting us there to get us settled. Excellent communication too. It is in a wonderful location, just 15 minutes' walk from The Louvre, 10 mins from Notre Dame and within easy reach of Metro stations to get your where ever you would like to go. The apartment is in the Marais district which is a vibrant area with plenty of restaurants and stores. The aprtment was clean and very neat. The stairs up to the bed are a little precarious, but we managed fine. There is all you will need provided, although we actually spent very little time actually in the apartment other than to shower and sleep. Paul was very accomodating and met us at the apartment to show us around. Some comments do mention the bar across the street, and yes, it is a very busy bar, even on cold November evenings, however the apartment has new double glazed windows so you can't here it too much. Pros: great central location, close to lots of restaurants bars and whatever else you might need. Apartment has everything you need for a comfortable stay, it’s small but doable for 2 people. Super affordable for this part of Paris. The apartment was super clean as well! Cons: the bed is not very comfortable and the pillows are terrible. The apartment has some ventilation issues (despite opening windows during our stay often) and it gets very humid inside causing some mold to grow on the walls & in the bathroom. This property is in a building with ongoing renovations and is well situated for an individual or couple who are looking for a place to stay close to the metro and cafes. The laundry was a big help in traveling light. The listing and photos show a microwave but the unit now has shelving there without a microwave available. Similarly, if an office is important, there is no desk, but this space was perfect for us out all day enjoying Olympics festivities. The windows block the majority of the neighborhood noise at night, there are excellent blackout curtains and a powerful fan. We would recommend this space to others looking for a good value and willing to climb to the lofted mattress. We appreciate the host working with us to drop bags early to avoid traffic restrictions during the opening ceremony and good communication before and during our stay. ##### Elizabeth D. May 12, 2025 Liked: Cleanliness, check-in, communication, location, listing accuracy #### Hard to beat this location We had a great time here, from the time Paul met us at the front door, until we checked out four days later. You can see it on the map, but the location is outstanding. It's only a few minutes' walk to many of Paris' attractions. And if it's not a quick walk to the attraction (e.g., the catacombs or Arc de Triomphe), it's a minute or two to the nearest Metro (Hotel de Ville, Line 1 for East-West, connecting to many others) or maybe 3-5 to Chatelet / Chatelet Les Halles (Line 4 for North-South, and many others, including the regional RER).The kitchen is well-appointed with all you would need to make basic meals. There is a microwave, a medium-sized fridge (with small freezer compartment), a stovetop, and a dishwasher. There is no oven, but I would doubt one would need one on vacation.There is also a regular washing machine. No dryer, but the provided drying rack is good for what one may need on vacation.I want to add a point, in case it is not obvious from the pictures: The stairs to the loft are quite small and steep, so you need to consider that if you have mobility issues. Also, there is a bar immediately across the street, where groups of people gather and chat until very late. It's not a problem if you're not a light sleeper, or if you can keep the windows closed. No A/C - those are uncommon in Paris, because the only really hot and muggy days are in the first two weeks of August. So open window is necessary. There are heaters for winter, and a good towel warmer. ##### Jeremy O.
