I can't say enough good things about this hotel. I recently spent 9 nights there on vacation, and it was easily one of the best stays I have ever had anywhere. I was traveling by myself, and I had their smallest room (even by European standards) but it was all I needed, the bed was beyond comfortable, the AC worked perfectly, I was right up against the elevator and never heard a peep, water pressure was excellent and the shower was always to temp. Then, the amenities. The room comes with a mini-fridge stocked with refreshments that the hotel refills at no extra charge every day. Similarly, their "tea" consists of a table filled with pastries, light refreshments, juices, sodas, fruit and is set out from early afternoon until far into the next morning (again, at no extra cost). I found the staff (with one glaring exception; and no, it wasn't a case of the stereotypical French attitude. He was English) to be both friendly and VERY helpful with everything from navigating the city to the meeting every possible need while onsite. Then too there's the location. Blvd de Sabastopol is not the most glam street in Paris. Not quite seedy or unsafe, but it has a good number of empty storefronts, and those that are occupied are disproportionally geared toward working-class Parisians. (I saw more McDonald's and KFCs in a 5 block radius than I have back home in the States.) But what it lacks in curb appeal it MORE than makes up for w its central location and 2 Metro lines.
