Barcelo did not live up to the expectation and reviews. I been to a Barcelo resort in DR and the Barcelo Aruba is not the same at all! I am very disappointed and astonished by the experience. Not only was the service, amenities, rooms and resort outdated, worn out and desperately needs maintenance; the customer service and front desk employees were not welcoming, was argumentative and no smile on their face. They looked miserable being there. Breakdown of experience; 1. Booked resort in February and requested connecting rooms multiple (5) times. Had to book 2 rooms for 4 people because they don’t allow more then 3 people per room so you are forced to book 2 rooms. Day of check-in, we get non-connecting rooms; front desk representative that checked us in (who by the way wasn’t wearing a name tag), no smile on her face, rude and pretty much said tough luck and it is what it is. 2. After going back and forth with her and asking, if there are no connecting rooms all week, do you not see if there are any check-outs listed. She said to come back at 7:30pm to check. We came down at that time and she said there is a connecting room next to one of the rooms we have that is checking out in the morning. For us to empty out one of our current rooms by 11 am and they will have the room that is checking out ready for us. I have 13 points but there is a character limit and will not take my full review. Summary is outdated facility, the worst customer service I came across and food sucks.

I enjoyed the casual elegance of this property. It has a gentle hospitality and subtle attention to detail that you may easily overlook. Things like the towel person always giving you a pink and a blue towel because you asked for that earlier in the week for a picture of your lounger. The maitre d seating you for breakfast remembering where you sat the prior day. Having seating adjacent the house restrooms as you wait for your partner. Cloth napkins at the table at the very meal which also are used to wrap around the water pitchers to prevent condensation from dripping on you or your food/table as your glass is filled. Having double and triple oversight on your needs not only when dining. You are seldom more than a glance away from attention . Many other examples but again this goes in noticed as you relax and enjoy your stay.

We love the Barcelo! However there were some cosmetic issues during our stay. There are quite a few things that are dated. Items such as the door readers and or software with the door readers. Not sure which. Our experience was that the cards were not working on 3 separate occasions. That made it difficult because each occurrence required that you had to go to the front desk. We stayed in room 1520 and on the 5th day of our week long trip the main door to our room was found open. When we tried to close the door the door jam was broken. The front desk did quickly change our room. However the new room location was in tower 2 room 2413. This was inconvenient whereas my wife and I were traveling with her elderly parents. They were in tower 1. Also inconvenient to have to pack up our belongings and unpack in another room. The front desk and bellhop were most helpful and friendly! Other minor issues, slow drainage in the showers and sinks, also the balcony slider doors could use some updating. Now the good. This was our 2nd trip to Aruba.We stayed at the Allegro in 2002. We both agreed that our stay 4/15/24 - 4/22/24 was better! The major reason why was the staff! In particular Diego at the pool bar! Diego is incredible! His personality and friendliness was out of this world! Whatever you’re paying him, it should be double! Another mentionable staff member is Venessa. Quick to get us waters! We will be returning! Hoping this review helps.

Love my time in Aruba First time staying at Barceló.Food was ok but had to get up at 4:30 in the morning to reserve a hut on the beach which is not what guests want to do when they’re on vacation!!!!

This was an amazing experience with my wife, the staff and service is more than 5 stars, I just got a few issues first with acess to my room and then the air conditioner was leaking water but they were able to fix them quickly. The food selection and drinks options are excellent, I really enjoyed this time in Aruba

Unfortunately, our biggest complaint was the pool and beach chairs system. We were told to get there by 6:00 am and steak your claim. Many chairs remained empty for hours. This lead us to have to purchase beach umbrellas through private company next door. The pool area has space to add more chairs. Just a bad system all around! All inclusive shouldn’t mean having to purchase umbrellas for $40.00 a day! On the other hand, shout out to Art’s rental for us to have that option!

Food was exceptional. Lots of options and delicious. Staff was very friendly. Requests for room beverages repeatedly were ignored and despite pool hours of 8-8 people were allowed to “reserve” all the chairs by 6am every day. Disappointing that staff didn’t enforce the posted rule asking guests to exercise basic common courtesy.

We were part of the Royal level. One of the perks was a top shelf bar on the beach. Francisco was an excellent bar tender. All the Royal level restaurant was delicious, the service was excellent but slow, they may be under staffed. The Italian restaurant and the Japanese were are excellent

Only negative was the pool chairs being taken up by people placing towels on them beginning at 5am and no one ever showing up. Was not able to get a chair by the pool the entire stay. This should not be allowed by the hotel.

Really enjoyed my stay here - definitely recommend reserving at least one dinner at the Kyoto hibachi grill and seafood restaurant at the resort. Very cute local area that is walkable with so many fun options for a night out afterwards!

The Staff really makes the difference! The food was good, we ate at all of the speciality restaurants and enjoyed them all. Royal Club is the way to go, spend a little extra and make your stay feel a little more special. Shout out to Marlon, Edelina, Veronica as well as the beach staff, they along with many others made it a very enjoyable vacation for us!

Location is excellent, Palm Beach is wonderful and safe to walk, that’s what draws us to Aruba. We spent our honeymoon at this same resort (under a different name) 20 years ago and some things are updated but things are largely the same. Beach is great, although you need to be up very early to get a palapa if you want one. Pool is great as well, same as beach, if you want chairs you need to be up very early to get them. I recommend starting your day at the beach and then move to the pool later in the afternoon. Pool bar is great and bartenders are fun, especially Diego and Romano. All the staff were helpful and friendly, no issues there at all! We chose resort for all inclusive as well as location, and the food is good, not great. The selection is the same every day so if you are looking for fine dining or gourmet meals this is not the place. We are not those people so it was fine for us but by the end of our week we were bored with the food. What we had was good but needed the variety to be changed up every day. Resort is clean even if a bit outdated. Housekeeping came to room everyday, no issues. We will most likely return again because we love the location and layout of the resort and the all inclusive. We don’t want to have to go out and find where to eat every day.

The Barceló myth. This is a nice place but not the level of luxury or low stress that you would expect from the website or the price (we stayed at the “royal level”). It seems that the Barceló believes that basic hotel services that you would find at any hotel are somehow luxurious. The wait staff are very nice as you would hope of any place you stayed. However, there is a huge lack of respect at the management level. There have been happenings such as security stealing your belongings and other guest being allowed to take your chairs or cabanas. No written rules around pool or beach etiquette. The manager in charge of this area is ineffective. This type of behavior from an expensive luxury hotel is unacceptable. Essentially it has brought a high level of stress and disappointment to our vacation. Management does not support the guest. We have had some good experiences and will write a full review, good and bad , at the end of our trip, and name the names of those who influenced our review.

The royal level wasn’t worth the money at all. We weren’t really given much info or given a tour like we heard other employees explain we should have. My friend got food poisoning from the royal level restaurant the second night and they did nothing to accommodate her. We never went back there again. No offers of money back or anything. Food was just ok at buffets. Best dinner was at the Japanese restaurant. Some staff was exceptional. We tipped them really good bc many of the staff was so rude.

Part of the concierge check in at Royal Level is to provide the guest with all information regarding the services included and the property but no tour is given. We lament if you received this deceiving information. We are deeply sorry that your partner felt poorly during your stay and not being immediately informed as we would have called a doctor for a checkup and for her to be able to enjoy the remaining of your holidays among us, however we would like to take the opportunity to point out that our hotel, like all hotels of our chain, undergoes regular independent audits sent both by the company and the tour operators we collaborate with  to ensure our strict food safety management procedures, imposed on a global level by the company, are being followed and thoroughly respected at all times as under no circumstances would we put our guests’ health at risk by serving food in bad conditions, your safety being of course our main concern, therefore we can only assume that you may have consumed something outside the hotel during your stay or on your way to Aruba and sincerely hope that your friend is totally recovered as we speak. On the other hand we thank you for pointing out the kindness and enthusiasm of our staff, their friendliness and helpfulness being our hotels’ main strength we will definitely congratulate them all on your behalf for their contribution to your wellbeing whilst staying among us. The hotel was good. Check-in and check-out was easy. However restautant reservations were always booked but, the restaurants were never full. Also, guests claimed the poolside cabanas very early in the mornings with their towels and even snall tables on the cabanas and were not at the pool. Security told us that people claim the cabanas at 5AM then so back to sleep. I think there should be a policy that if you are not at the pool thrn you shouldn't have a cabana because it doesn't allow more guests to enjoy the pool amenities. Drinks were great and the beach was awesome!

This property was very mediocre. The food options was limited. It was suppose to be all inclusive. However room service was extra. Only one bar for the pool.Not enough staff to support. Make sure you bring an insulated cup if you drink.

This place is not a 5 star hotel. It was a cheap all inclusive you would by from a travel program. The food is horrible, the drinks were horrible. It was a bunch of senior citizens all over the resort. Very misleading. Only benefit it was walking distance from the main strip.

It waa a beautiful resort with great staff and food. We had a wonderful time at the resort and definitely will be returning in the future. The only thing I would change is more watee for three adults (I felt like we had to constantly ask for water and got one per person).

Nice place but would be better if you couldn’t hear all the craziness on 6th floor. And all the bikes going nuts at 1-2am. Other than that we had a great time

Our room was clean and the shows were great, although started late - at 10 pm. The Italian and hibachi restaurants were great. Bartenders and servers in buffet great. Edward at Italian restaurant was the best!! The hotel consistently ran out of pool towels, facecloths and hand towels. Not enough chairs at the pool. Many guests had to place their belongings on the side of the pool. Cold water in the shower. Hair dryer old and kept turning off. The whole property is outdated. Food at buffet is over cooked and terrible. Front desk not helpful and act like they’re being bothered. Learned about the resort from other guests. Explained all this to the manager Giovanni who wasn’t very receptive. He could less. We won’t return.

Many previous reviews stated concerns about reserving spots at the pool/beach with towels. That's the way it works!!! Get a clean towel the day before between 5:30 - 6:15 PM. We never stayed at pool. For beach, get online 6AM at start of path to beach. Getting a hut is tuff, everyone wants a hut. We got 4 chairs just to the left of where the path starts. Under a group of trees - a little sun but mostly shade. Perfect!!!!!!
