The Teatro Massimo, stupendous Art Nouveau masterpiece, the Cathedral, pearl of Arab-Norman architecture in Sicily, and then San Giovanni degli Eremiti, Piazza Pretoria, La Martorana, Palazzo dei Normanni, the Archbishop's Museum, Porta Nuova, Piazza Marina: they are just some of the destinations can be reached in a few minutes of pleasant walking. Although it is favorably placed in a central context, near the famous popular market of Ballarò, via Roma and via Ruggiero VII, very popular shopping destinations in the city, the apartment benefits from the happy positioning on the top floor of a noble palace which makes it similar to a silent and relaxing oasis in which to pleasantly immerse yourself. Inside, in fact, you cannot help but appreciate the bright and comfortable rooms, the soft movement of the high wooden ceilings, the majolica specially made by master Seminara, the flowered terrace overlooking Via Maqueda and the balconies with splendid panoramic views of the city with its colorful roofs and the beautiful domes of its churches. The apartment was renovated at the same time as the entire building in 2020 and has been furnished with loving care to ensure the most pleasant and comfortable stay possible. Inside it consists of two beautiful air-conditioned bedrooms, well furnished with large beds and orthopedic mattresses. From a spacious and comfortable double living room with a large 49 inch television, overlooking the beautiful flowered terrace, attractive and well equipped with comfortable armchairs where you can rest and a table and chairs for eating outdoors. From a modern and independent kitchen with every accessory necessary for cooking, and from a bright and comfortable bathroom with window. A walk to the Ballaro' market, which is located just one hundred meters away from the apartment, is an enchanting event not to be missed: you will discover an itinerary of high artistic and cultural value, which leads from the Cathedral to the Teatro Massimo , flanking stalls of colorful and lively food products. Considered among the most authentic markets in the city in terms of gastronomic offer and product quality. Pleasant mix of voices, smells and colours, a corner of the city where time seems to have stopped. The area in which the apartment is located is well equipped with public transport services and is located a short distance from the bus stop coming from the airport, from the shuttles that carry out tourist tours of the most beautiful architectural attractions of the historic center and from the bus stop that takes you to the beautiful beach of Mondello. It is 10 minutes from the train station, where buses to the local attractions and airport also run from. The apartment is very modern, spacious and well equipped and Masimo is extremely helpful. The flat was super clean and equipped with everything we needed. You have to be confortable with stairs however, sometimes after a day walking around the city it seemed like the four-five flights of stairs were higher and higher! We enjoyed the proximity to the Market, Via Makeda and main attractions. We even rented a car for a few days and enjoyed closeby local beaches that were a lot less crowded than Modello or Cefalu. Nov 29, 2013 #### A JEWEL IN PALERMO My husband and I (with our 16 year old son), stayed in this wonderful apartment to celebrate my 50th birthday. Massimo was warm, charming and welcoming making us feel at home the minute we walked in the door. Communication was always excellent and this made our trip easy to organise. Massimo always replied to emails very promptly and was able to provide excellent advice when we were there. The apartment was light and airy, well equipped and very spacious, with new furniture and the beds were very comfortable. The terrace was lovely for eating outside and we had great temperatures for late October. The apartment is ideally placed for visiting Palermo with the virbant Ballarò market just round the corner. The station is 5 minutes walk (easy to catch a train to Cefalù and other nearby towns) and the Teatro Massimo is about 10 mins walk (lots of great restaurants nearby ). The neighbourhood is very safe with lots of interesting cheap jewellery shops, which I enjoyed browsing! Great value for money – probably the best in Palermo. We would highly recommend the apartment and plan to return next autumn/early winter to take advantage of mild temperatures. ##### Louise T. ### 6/10 Okay #### Nadia M. Sep 14, 2019 Liked: Cleanliness, communication #### Pour un long week end sans voiture L’appartement est bien placé dans un quartier assez populaire et à quelques minutes à pieds de toutes les jolies choses à voir à Palerme. Il est calme, fonctionnel, grand et avec tout le nécessaire pour passer un bon séjour. Nous avons été accueillis par le frère de Massimo qui nous a donné une carte et expliqué les choses à voir. Petit bémol pour le 4ème étage sans ascenseur et la surcharge pour avoir la clim indispensable en plein mois d’août. Nous avons été prévenus une semaine avant notre arrivée car pas explicite sur l’annonce donc pas trop le choix. Palerme se visite à pieds donc je conseille de ne pas être véhiculé car le logement, bien qu’il y ait un petit parking quasi gratuit à côté (un monsieur un peu insistant nous réclamait quand même tous les jours une pièce) , il faut prendre en compte qu’il se trouve sur une zone à trafic limité (appelé ZTL) et qu’il faut acheter chaque jour un pass pour pouvoir y circuler, ce qui a été une source de stress à gérer car nous n’avions pas l’info avant d’arriver. It is very close to the train station on the via Maqueda. Its location means that there is quite a bit of street noise. I specifically asked Massimo about this, and was assured that it wouldn't be a problem, as the bedrooms are at the back of the apartment. Both the person with whom I shared the apartment and I, however found that there was just as much street noise in the bedrooms as in the living room at the front of the apartment. We both had to sleep with the windows closed and with ear plugs. In addition, some kind of electrical unit sits on the side of the building right beside the living room wall; we could hear the hum of that machine all day and night. Despite these drawbacks, we did like the apartment which is spacious and centrally located. Massimo was an excellent host, it is well worth getting him to meet you as the main door to the building is not easy to find first time. The 99 steps to the flat door can be tiring, but they help to work off the great food that is all around. The whole apartment was spotlessly clean and well equipped. My only slight negative comment is that the air conditioning is available at an extra cost, which is not mentioned in the listing. Everything was just prefect, we were just 2 but more than enough space for 4 people. Just like the people before wrote a perfect patio to sit a sip some extremely good wine after a day of walking around. The location is easy walking to all the tourist spots. Massimilano was a great host and couldn’t do enough for us his suggestions for restaurants were tremendous. I would highly recommended this property 5 stars. Jun 10, 2017 #### Grazie Massimo Massimo's apartment was everything I hoped it would be. Centrally located in the historic area of Palermo and close to a large market just around the corner. The apartment had enough room for the four of us and the balcony was perfect for afternoon/evening wine and cheese. Also the train station was just a few minutes walk and trains are so easy. We went to Cefalu in only 50 minutes. Massimo was most helpful and had lots of information at his apartment more than any other of the five places we rented. There were lots of restaurants close by. I would highly recommend a stay here. Small caveat there are four flights of stairs up to the apartment so pack lightly although Massimo carried our bags for us...grazie mille Massimo you were a gracious host. L'appartement est au dernier étage avec terrasse, avec plusieurs vues sur palermo, la cathédrale notamment. Cet appartement a été magnifiquement refait et aménagé, d'une main de maître architecte ! The location is absolutely superb, walking distance of 5 short minutes to a huge market with all the fresh fruits and vegetables, 10-15 minutes walking to the opera house or the Cathedral, etc. Car is definitely not necessary evnthough we had rented one wich we never used once. We thurely enjoyed our 7 days in Palermo. Can't say enough about Francesco, he was extremely helpful in guiding us to see the various spots in Palermo, restaurants, etc. He greeted us with a nice bottle of wine, helped with bringing our luggages up to the apartment and back to our car.
