A heady mix of old and new, ideal for beach life and exploring Cornwall. Beach Cottage is nestled behind the dunes right next to Porthcothan Bay, halfway between Padstow and Newquay. When you arrive you'll find spacious parking and easy access to the property. Designed for modern living, the kitchen, dining coupled with a snug seating area next the double sided log burner has all the benefits of modern living while accentuating the character of the cottage. The dining area leads onto the terrace and garden through sliding doors, bringing the outside in to make the most of the fresh sea air. The other side of the log burner features a snug room and smart TV for relaxing. Leading off the main hallway, a superb games room featuring a pool table and smart TV with Nintendo Wii U provides a space for entertainment. There are also Sonos speakers throughout the living areas in the property, allowing you to create the perfect atmosphere. Upstairs, the master bedroom with luxurious four poster bed and private terrace overlooking the bay, what more could you want for a slow start to the day with breakfast in bed. Perfect for the family, just down the hall from the master are 2 bedrooms – one with a double bed and a twin room (with zip/link option on request) which share a family shower room. Under the eaves at the end of the house is a sumptuous king bedroom and ensuite shower room. Outside the sunny terrace provides comfy chairs to relax with morning coffee, sundowners or a chilled aperitif whilst the aspiring chefs in your group cook up a feast on the Big Green Egg BBQ. At the bottom of the garden is the spa building, that has sliding doors to open up the area. The spa has a hot tub, bar and wet room shower and toilet. Great for washing off wetsuits and sandy feet. Alongside the spa room is a sauna, perfect for chilly days or summer evenings straight off the beach from the gate at the bottom of the garden. Accessed from the garden, you'll find a 2 bedroom annexe (sleeping up to 4 people), complete with shared bathroom, kitchenette, living area and downstairs toilet. The bedrooms in the annexe are a king double and a twin (with zip/link option on request). Hot tub and games room were well used. The house is bright, modern and comfortable. Some of the double bedrooms were smaller than expected but fine overall. Beds were very comfortable. It was useful to have extra living space in the annexe. The lounge there became a temporary home office. One downside-the dishwasher was not adequate for the number of people staying at full occupancy. We spent too much time at the kitchen sink. Best of all - it’s right on a fabulous beach. Frontline position straight on to the beech on Porthcothan. The facilities were excellent including a hot tub and bar in its own room in the the garden. This was a real blessing as the weather was pretty awful during our stay but the kids, loved it. All Bedrooms were all of excellent size and most with beautiful en-suites. Great view of the beach from the master suite Games room was well equipped with large flat tv's and lovely furnishings throughout. Really good Egg BBQ and seating outside. Big kitchen and diner with enough designer crockery, etc for many diners with all the appliances one needed. Next door, a really good beach shop selling, fresh pasties and the best ice cream. The location will blow you away. Right on the beach and yet very private. The house has everything that a family could want and it is top notch equipment. We chose Beach Cottage because it is actually on the beach just behind the dunes – a 3 minute stroll to a huge sandy beach with no roads to cross and dogs are welcome all-year round on the beach. When we arrived we found Beach Cottage warm, light and spacious and we particularly appreciated the Welcome Pack after a long journey. The facilities are exceptional – all rooms are well appointed both in the main house and annexe (which we also used) and the linen was crisp and fresh. We had a minor glitch with the hot tub on arrival – it was cold! Shore Stays quickly resolved this next day (a Saturday!) and it performed faultlessly for the rest of our stay – great after a day out! The teenagers thoroughly appreciated the Games Room Pool Table. Outside there is parking for 4 cars and 2 EV charge points, a working phone box if needed (no mobile signal at all), a Royal Mail post box and a beach shop - 2-minute stroll from the front door and Barney will be happy to supply you with papers, coffee, ice creams, cakes, pasties or whatever takes your fancy! Next to the telephone box is a bus stop (hourly) so jump on the double decker and let somebody else navigate the lanes to Padstow! In short, it was everything we wanted – and then some. This year 7 of us with a 10 week old baby. This house was perfect. The annex was great for baby and family...really well thought out..with its own little kitchen complete with coffee machine. The main kitchen was great...easy to cook a full Cornish for 7..lovely cutlery and China and just generally well equipped to a very high spec. The games room was great. TV area ...really good TV for watching the world Cup....though the sofa could do with being bigger to accommodate a big party....long with the seating in the pool room. The bedrooms and bathrooms were exceptional.....along with location...right on the beach. Lots of lovely towels Finally the hot tub room....what can I say ....just perfect, great jets really warm and held its heat..lovely bar area complete with fridge....what a great time we had. We were blessed with great weather that allowed us to see some amazing sunsets over the sea from the balcony. The children, ranging in ages from 9 to 18, had the best time exploring the coves, and body boarding on the beach, which is straight out of the back gate and over the sand dune. The house itself was immaculate, stylish, well equipped, of high spec, and had plenty of room for 11 guests. We were all able to find our own space for some quiet time, and come together when we wanted to. The shop next door does lovely fresh coffee, stunning ice creams, and freshly cooked pasties and sausage rolls that were just too tempting to resist. The costal open top bus, stops right outside, and will take you to most of the beaches between Padstow and Newquay, which is a great alternative to finding parking, and fun for the kids.
