The hostel is unique because it used to be a jail, and its gates, blocks, and grids have historical value.

Nice and clean place, especially the washrooms are kept really clean. The breakfast offered in the morning is good as well. All in all, a really nice place to spend the night with so much of history involved.

Enjoyed the history and uniqueness of the place. Was a bit cold at night so you need to be prepared in the winter months. Will come again.

Cool place to stay while in Ottawa. Some of the individual rooms appear to be cells that have been split in two, and not the original size of the cells. I stayed in one of these, which are quite small.

Cool idea of the jail conversion. I stayed in bunk room but cell living is narrow from what I saw. Novotel next door for food and tv watching (sports).

The fact that it was a former city jail turned into a hostel. The wi-fi was the best I've used in any place I've ever stayed.

Great value centre of Ottawa
Great value staying in such an interesting and unusual building. Centre of Ottawa so handy for Rideau centre. Parliament Hill. Byward Market. Museums.

Overpriced dorm
I was excited to stay there as it's a unique location with an interesting history. However, I did not realise that the single rooms are basically closed only with an iron door, meaning that you can hear everything around you as if you were staying in a dorm room. I did not sleep well at all and for the price I did expect more in terms of comfort.

Husband and I stayed in a deluxe double bed room with an attached bathroom with a shower. Towels were available at the front desk at no charge. The air conditioning unit was great! We enjoyed our free breakfast in the dining hall every morning. Beautiful building! No ghost sightings, unfortunately.
