Ok, it is what it is for a hotel connected to a central train station. Yes it is convenient for early morning or late night trains but Oslo is a very walkable city and there are nicer hotels in the same price category just an additional 5 minutes further.
To find the hotel go to the front of the train station as if you are exiting but before you do, look for Karl Johan Gate exit (there are two so don’t take the first one nearest the tracks). Walk until just before exiting and it is on the left. Alternatively if you find yourself outside the train station facing the train station there is an external door on the right hand side of the building facing the opera house.
Inside of the hotel it is a bit of a maze and although I’m usually good with locations, I found myself confused several times trying to find my room.
I know this is going to sound petty but the room numbers are spray painted on the walls - I know they were going for urban chic, but given the location, the appearance is more like finding your room in a prison.
The breakfast buffet was ok but nothing to write home about.
