Great art concept, super friendly staff, great location. Quick walk to the historic area of Kyoto and to shopping and bars. Our carpet in our room was dirty, as was the carpet in the hallway, but nothing spot treatments cant get rid of. Great amenities, like slippers, robes, and toothbrushes. Only major issue we gound was the pillows...they were super uncomfortable and rock hard. However, communications between hotel staff and us leave a lot to be desire. We understand that this is an unmanned hotel, which means there won’t be staff available in person all the time, but there should still be somebody always on call to help answer our questions. On the day we checked out, a lot of our clothes were stuck in the washer because the washer door wouldn’t unlock no matter what we do. We try calling the provided number to reach hotel staff for 30-45 minutes, but nobody picked up. Eventually we had to just left our clothes in there and leave otherwise we would have been late for our flight.
