simply disappointed!

Posted 11-May-2016
Pros: Accomodations and cleanliness were good.
Cons: Reimbursement policies, regardless who you book through needs to change.
Location: Good location, with lots to do around the hotel.
Although Crown Plaza Hotel is quite clean and contemporary, we had a stroke of bad luck when on the 2nd day of our 4 day vacation, the hotel's air conditioning stopped working. At first, they told us it would only be a few hours of discomfort, when it actually turned out to be almost 2 days worth. When I asked what type of reimbursement they were giving to the patrons, they said since I had booked through a 3rd party (expedia), there was not much they could do for us. I pleaded my case telling them they were still getting their money, and more importantly, my girlfriend suffers from Asthma, they tried to console me by telling me we can spend a few hours by the lobby, or by the pool. Both areas were very hot, and when I told them my girlfriend was now having breathing problems, is when they offered us a dinner voucher at a nearby restaurant, and that they would call us when the problem was fixed. After spending a couple of hours at the restaurant, they called telling us they fixed the problem. Needless to say, it was very disappointing.

Dear Mixin Thank you for your response. My apologies that the 3rd party transactions were not adequately explained to you. This has been reviewed with our team so that communication in the future will be much clearer. I am so sorry about the AC issue. This was certainly an isolated incident and we made the very best of this unfortunate scenario. I thank our guests for their understanding while we worked to restore operations back to normal.

Bathroom needs an upgrade that's the only issue I had.

Thank you for this great 4 star review. We're glad you enjoyed the hotel and thank you for your feedback regarding this bathroom. We have plans to update the rooms in the future. We recently completed the main lobby area and more. Perhaps, the next time you visit it will be a perfect stay.

Should be a 2 star Hotel

Posted 28-Apr-2016
Pros: The only thing I liked about this Hotel was gym. It wasn't big, but it was adequate.
Cons: This place needs new management and employees. When your in hospitality, you need to be accommodating to your guests.
Location: Location was fine. It's Orlando. Everything you need is a short ride away. Nothing within walking distance of this Hotel.
From the start, our stay was less than "warm and cozy". Reserved a room with a king sized bed, but said they only had standard rooms with double beds available. Not a big deal, but definitely not starting out good. To top it off, they put us in a handicap room. Okay, again, not a big deal, but not what I ordered. My fiance' likes to take baths when we're on vacation but if you know anything about handicap rooms, there is no tub. The room had an unpleasant odor which made it difficult to sleep, and the air conditioning system did not work properly. We had to set the thermostat to 60 to get the temperature in the room to 68. Weird. I don't like writing reviews like this, so here's my list of reasons not to stay at this hotel: 1.) Staff was EXTREMELY unfriendly and unaccommodating. 2.) Food was horrible and overpriced. 3.) Shuttles to parks were not convenient at all. Free, yes, but not convenient. 4.) They CHARGE you more than Starbucks for a cup of coffee. The point here, they CHARGE for coffee. I've never stayed in a Hotel that charged it's guests for coffee. 5.) Internet was horrible. Kept dropping. 6.) Rooms were not clean. Literally, the maids emptied the trash and made the beds. That's it. 7.) Noisy rooms. Could hear everything in the hallways and rooms next to ours. 8.) We knew more about what was happening at the Parks than the Concierge. He tried to sell us things we couldn't use. No more room. I ran out of characters, but I have more to say!

Crowne Plaza is a quality chain of hotels

Posted 21-Apr-2016
Cons: parking, $12 a day is a little high. possibly a free continental breakfast or a reduced rate for those staying multiple nights.
Location: Very close to Universal Studios (a few miles away) Disneyworld is like a 15-20 minute drive. Starbucks, Dunkin Donuts, and other places close by.
Very comfortable, quiet hotel. Even though we were directly over the entrance to the hotel we never heard any noise and had a nice view of the Orlando eye nearby. Beds were super comfortable, room was bigger than expected and had plenty of room to move around between both beds, the desk, the chairs, and the dresser with the TV. Nicely sized bathroom and the shower/tub even had a clothes line that pulled out so we could hang up our wet suits and items. Top notch hotel. Very nice pool and hot tub. Never ate at the hotel restaurants or paid the $17 fee for breakfast. Overall a very pleasant stay.

Very nice hotel close to universal studios

Posted 11-Apr-2016
Pros: Clean and confortable
Cons: The breakfast service could be better
Location: It itveryclose to Univeral studios and Sea World
It is clean and nice hotel. It has a nice pool and an out door bar. The rooms are in good condition and good size for family of 4. We stayed mainly to visit Universal Studios and it is very close to it. I wish that had better shuttle service to the theme parks.

Thank you for this wonderful review and 5 star rating. It's great to know you and your family enjoyed your stay and our pool. We are very close to Universal and other area attractions. Although we offer a free shuttle to Universal, there are many other options too that are very cost effective. The next time you visit we'd also recommend the i-ride trolley. It takes you all up and down the International Drive area.

Pros: The one person that made our trip worthwhile at the hotel was in the inside bartender Israel! He was nice, informative and talkative.
Cons: The rooms!
Location: Great location for walking to restaurants and bars!
The room smelled like smoke even though it was smoke free. The thermostat was broken so the room was either too cold or too hot. We always had to call for our room to be cleaned. Two times, within minutes we'd have a message on our phone saying they tried to clean our room but the "Do not disturb sign" was on - It was not! When asked about changing to a different room the front desk was not accommodating because we booked on expedia. The pool was fun and clean. The seating area out side was nice. The grounds were managed well. The speakers for the pool was very dull to were you could barley hear the music. The picture of the pool that is on all sites makes the pool look a lot bigger than it really is. Its pretty small. The pool area had a tiki bar which would have been fun for the adults but 3 different bartenders were RUDE. Bartenders and servers are suppose to fun, nice and act like they like their job. Inside they have a nice restaurant and bar area. Food was good. The one person that made our trip worthwhile at the hotel was in the inside bartender Israel! He was nice, informative and talkative.

Thank you for your review. I am truly sorry that we earned only 2 of 5 stars during your visit. I do thank you for the kind mention for Israel and at the same time sorry that you found the other bartenders to be less than friendly. We take your critique seriously and will use it to help improve our service. Thanks again.

Its a really nice hotel with a large pool and jacuzzi. Its about 5 minutes drive to the Universal Studio. The hotel provides complimentary shuttle service which you can take to the parks. There are walgreens, starbucks and Mcdonalds close by but u need a car to get to them. The hotel is awesome! Highly recommend it to people who are planning on visiting the universal studio parks

Nice hotel close to Universal Studios and parks

Posted 3-Apr-2016
Pros: Rooms were clean and big. The hotel is in great condition and comfortable. Proximity to parks is great.
Cons: AC could be quieter, noise between rooms could be reduced as you do hear quite a bit.
Location: Great access to parks and restaurants. Groceries close by.
Comfortable rooms, hotel in good condition. Good overall cleanliness. Rooms were a bit noisy as you can hear the adjoining rooms especially if the other guests are speaking loudly. AC was noisy when on but still slept well at night. There are only 2 shuttle runs to Universal in the morning and one back in the evening and a lot of guests using it so space is a challenge. It's great that it is so close to the parks so no real issues back and forth if you need to use a taxi.

Thank you for your review and wonderful rating. We really appreciate it. We're glad you enjoyed your stay and were impressed with the hotel. And yes, our location makes visiting the parks very easy. In addition to the free shuttle we offer, there's also the I-Ride Trolley that makes visiting all the immediate area has to offer very easy and reasonable. We hope you try that the next time you come back to visit.

It was very pleasurable experience and I would recommend it to my friends. I thought the car service from the hotel to the airport was a bit high

Thank you for this wonderful review and recommending our hotel to all your friends. We hope you'll visit again soon. We don't provide a car service from the airport but there are many to choose from. Once you're here you can walk to many shopping and entertainment outlets all around us or take the I-Ride Trolley. It's nice to have that flexibility. We're looking forward to your next visit!
