The hotel room we stayed in was a very plain, all white room. While the room itself has nothing extraordinary to look at color or decoration wise, it will fit the needs of a place to stay, a place to get a nice hot shower, and comfortable enough beds for a good night's sleep.
On top of that, it had the best tap water I have ever tasted from a hotel! Most hotels have lightly chlorinated water or something else of an off taste, but the water in the Quality Hotel Strand in Gjøvik was just regular refreshing water.
I will say that to some, the three inch thick mattress (or whatever you call the soft stuff you lay on) might not feel like enough for good comfort for someone heavier (than approx 49.9kg to 63.5kg). The mattress felt just a little stiffer than other hotels and possibly with enough weight, one might feel more of the hard support beneath.
We didn't require much more for service than to check-in or out of the hotel, but simply doing that was pleasant enough despite the awkwardness that I had arrived an hour early for several reasons. It was more my fault than theirs for the somewhat aloof reaction to being early, but the staff was kind enough to find us a room that was open.
Overall I'd rate this place a 4 out of 5. Some people might not like the plainness of the rooms, the slightly stiffer mattresses, or--if you were unlucky like me-- the possible silent disagreement for being early, but its still a great location!
