The hotel owners were very gracious and went out of their way to help us with train routes and times. The town closes up early and the hotel is traditional Japanese in the bedding and the food service. Only a few noodle restaurants open near the bus stop. Better to get your snacks or cup noodles somewhere else as the only convenient store closes early and no vending machine near-by. It only took me 25 minutes to drive up to the Hakuba area from the hotel and the conditions where nice. The hotel is a little old as some other reviewer commented but the room was cozy and very clean. The only complaint I have is the windows to our Japanese style room had no sun protection so in the morning a ton of light came through at about 6:30 am waking us up every time. The futon was surprisingly comfy and warm though. The onsen was really nice and we pretty much had it to ourselves as there were not many guests in the hotel when we were there. The water was really nice after a long day of snowboarding.
