I arrived at the Ochsenwirt Hotel with my son in July 2011.
The Hotel employees in charge, did never ever experienced a Hotels.com customer.
They said, I just made a reservation trough Hotels.com, but I need to PAY the costs for my room next morning (even if I already paid trough Hotels.com.
A room key was handed over to me, like room number 16.
That was it.
Could not find the room.
My son finally did.
The room was located in an external building and was that small, that I needed to turn backwards to get into that "thing", since there was absolutely no way to turn around.
The worse nightmare of an hotel room, I ever had seen since decades and I'm truly traveling a lot.
It doesn't help much, if you may have a great view to the mountains, if you have almost no chance to access the window.
After paying an additional amout of Euro's and having an very unpleasent discussion with who ever was in charge that night, and after the current hotel manager of that hotel was involved, finally we received permission to move into a "normal size" hotel room.
All hotel rooms do not provide refridgerators or microwafes. You need a bottle of water?
The hotel proudly would sell it to you for the amount of 2.85 Euro.
You need a bottle of beer?
Therefore you need to have to step down to the Hotel restaurant, that unfortunalety becomes unavailable after 10 Pm.
Ice?
Are you kidding me?
An Ice machine?
No have this word in the German language.
Taking a journey to the top of the Wendelstein for the amount of 30 euro per person and up to an elevation of 1865 meters, may give you some.
If you love to smell the cows "left overs",
this is the place to stay, otherwise I can only recommend to stay away as far as possible from that location. Even to spend the night in your car would be the better option.
First big disappointment I ever had experienced by doing reservations in Germany and I'm unfortunatley still a German passport holder.
But on the waiting list to become an American citicen. Thanks God.
Please don't waist your vacation time and money to fill money it into the Ochsenwirt owner and stuff pockets.
Compared to American standard of hotels it's was much, less then Motel 6 usually has to offer.
