THE BEE'S KNEES is a cozy and charming dog-friendly, one-level beach cottage that is only a 15 minute walk to the ocean and less than a 2 minute drive (0.7 miles). This 3-bdr/2-bath one-story house is updated and nicely decorated. The back screened in patio opens to a shaded backyard with beautiful live oak trees and surrounded by a 6-foot fence. On-site golf cart rental. 3 Bedroom | 2 Full Bathrooms 1 Queen | 1 Queen | 2 twin bunk beds | All beds have memory foam mattresses Long Stay Discount-25% for 14-27 nights, January 1st to May 20th,2026 and September 15,2026-May 20,2027 Monthly Discount-30% for 28+ nights, January 1st to May 20th,2026 and September 15,2026-May 20,2027 Military Discount -10% Discounts do not combine Cleaning fee includes linens. Beds will be made prior to arrival (except for top bunks). This is our second home that we visit regularly, and have made it comfortable & fun for you to enjoy as well. The house is 0.7 miles from the beach via the SE 9th footbridge (4 blocks over), or about the same distance via the Middleton Rd beach access. The house has fast 600 mbps Wifi, with complementary streaming Spectrum (cable), and access to your Netflix, Amazon Prime, or Hulu accounts via the Smart TVs. There is a shop vac in the garage so you can vacuum out all that beach sand before you return home. The master bedroom has a queen sized bed, dresser, desk, en suite bathroom with large walk in shower, vanity with granite top, large walk-in closet, and a 42" Smart TV. Bedroom #2 has a queen sized bed, one nightstand, one small chest of drawers, 32" Smart TV, and a closet. Bedroom #3 sleeps up to 4 people with two sets of twin bunk beds (upper bunks have pocket organizers to hold cell phones, eyeglasses,etc) and a nightstand. The living room has a cathedral ceiling, ceiling fan, a microfiber couch, matching love seat, two swivel chairs, a 55" smart tv, and a gas log fireplace. Bed linens and bath towels are included and beds will be made (minus top bunks). Owners supply a STARTER PACK ONLY of shampoo,body wash,dish soap,dishwasher pod,laundry detergent,paper towels,toilet paper,trash bags. Additional supplies may be purchased from the grocery store. \-->There are three security cameras- driveway, backyard, inside garage<-- Dogs must be booked in advance with a $175 pet fee paid at booking. HOUSE RULES- NO SMOKING/vaping in or on the property Only 8 people are permitted to stay overnight-STRICTLY ENFORCED No Parties or Events Copy of license and signed rental agreement required within 48 hours of booking A $500 security deposit hold will be applied to guest's credit card 2 days before arrival then released 3 days after departure Please be respectful of the neighbors as most of them are full time residents. Town of OKI quiet hours are 11pm-7am Did you know that we offer a golf cart rental? It is SO much fun to cruise to the beach on our 2023 six passenger Bintelli electric (lithium battery) street legal golf cart. It has a beach chair rack on the back and built in bluetooth speakers so you can listen to your favorite music! Golf cart rental fee is non-refundable due to operator error or poor weather conditions. We will need a copy of you driver's license, auto insurance, and a signed copy our golf cart waiver and usage guidelines. Must be at least 25 years old to rent golf cart. The golf cart rental fee is charged after the house reservation is made. Golf Cart rates plus tax- January-February $30/night March-April $60/night May-August $90/night September-October $60/night November-December $30/night Discount given on the golf cart for stays of 14+ nights. Garage is not available for guest's vehicle use, this is where we store our golf cart . There is room for 2 cars in the driveway. Mid-stay clean and linen swap out are required for stays of 21+ nights. An additional charge of $250 will be added to your reservation. Additional cleanings may be required based on length of stay. Our dogs love the fenced backyard and being able to explore around the oak trees without having to be leashed. We also enjoy renting the golf cart to get around. Our kids loved all the games and toys that were there. They also loved riding the golf cart. The golf cart is a must, it makes getting around with kids so much easier. We could not have picked a better spot. The proximity to beaches and restaurants and the ability to ride the golf cart pretty much everywhere we wanted to go was so nice. It was nice to have a private backyard space but still be so close to the beach. We brought our two dogs and they seemed to feel very comfortable as well. The house was super clean, the beds were very comfortable, the kitchen was well stocked, the back porch area was our favorite spot to hang out, and it was so easy and so much fun to explore Oak Island on the golf cart! The binder they made was full of instructions for anything and everything we could possibly need while we were there and it was so helpful! If you bring your pets or have children, the privacy fence is completely secure and you can relax know they are safe! It literally has everything you need and more already there. This place is just as the pictures show. The owners have thought of everything which makes your time at the beach so easy. The kitchen is fully stocked with what you need to cook just about anything. We thought the backyard area was beautiful and cozy. Driving the golf cart made Beach parking easy, and we appreciated the instructions and map of the golf cart route. Sometimes I hesitate to rent a dog friendly place sight unseen because they are not always clean. But the Bee’s Knees was nice and clean and did not disappoint! There is a whole closet of new toys that my young children had an absolute blast with. Everything that you need to go to the beach and have fun in the home without having to pack a ton of extra stuff. They even had dog beds and toys, as well as a pack and play, high chair, and plastic cups, bowls, straws, and small size utensils for very young children. They have thought of everything and even have a "junk drawer" for pens, tape, lighters, and each bathroom had first aid kits and there were even sealed toothbrushes just in case you forget yours. We have stayed at The Bees Knees in Oak Island twice now and have enjoyed our stay each time. We have 3 medium sized dogs and it is always so difficult to find places that allow more than one or two dogs. They have a nice fenced in yard and a screened porch that were just perfect to let our dogs out. We only used one of the bedrooms as it is just me, my husband and now our little boy who is 3 months old - they have a pack and play that he could sleep in and we just kept that in the primary bedroom with us. But there are two other bedrooms that would be perfect for bigger families. The house is conveniently located and is a nice short walk to the scenic overpass. It’s about a 15-20 min walk to the beach (perfect for wearing out our dogs). They provide the essentials which makes it nice not having to pack so much stuff (we have a carload already with 3 dogs and a baby). The house is clean and cozy and would definitely recommend it to anyone I know. ##### Katherine C. Bill & Tawnya are very helpful with any questions, and even let us know about closures since the island was getting prepared for Idalia during our stay. The home was very clean and convenient to restaurants and shopping areas. The kitchen is fully stocked with anything you could ever need if you plan on cooking meals, everything you need for a fun day on the beach is already there and saved us the trouble of packing even more stuff, and plenty of toys and games that my 8 year old niece had so much fun playing with during her stay as well. The beds were probably the most comfortable we’ve had in a vacation home! We also rented the golf cart for the week (highly recommend!). This was so convenient for beach trips, and much easier to find parking than if we had taken a vehicle. Our dogs enjoyed the dog beds and toys provided, and loved being able to go out in the fenced backyard throughout the day. The ring toss game on the back porch is very fun, and we enjoyed quite a few evenings of some friendly competition of seeing who could get the highest score.
