Overall the experience was positive but the room was nothing too special. The staff was very nice and welcoming but the building is slightly dated and there was an additional resort fee that I did not know about until I checked in upon arrival.

basic, w/i walking distance to waikiki beach

Posted 19-Apr-2018
I was pretty disappointed when we first walked into the hotel room on the 12th floor, after a long day of travel to get here. The kitchen was dirty with crumbs next to the baseboards and in between the fridge and the wall and when you see a bug trap next to the fridge, it makes you wonder what creature is in your hotel. Throughout our week stay, we never did see a bug. phew! The kitchen is in need of a DEEP cleaning for sure. My husband even found an old pop tart in the cabinet from who knows when. Very dated hotel. The rest of the hotel was clean, thank goodness. The A/C, once we first turned that on, it smelled of mildew. Not sure the filters ever get cleaned. We chose this hotel because it had a car/hotel bundle which saved us money, the reviews were not that bad (no concerns of pesky bugs) and it had a kitchen. Having a kitchen let me tell you SAVES you some money from not having to eat out for each meal. This hotel serves it's purpose. Somewhere to sleep, shower and cook your meals. I would much rather save money and stay in a cheaper hotel. It's a few blocks walking distance to waikiki beach. Also has a nice little pool, which we didn't know about until we got there. I would definately stay here again to save money. For a "budget" hotel, not too bad.

Welcoming Hotel with lovely staff

Posted 12-Apr-2018
Pros: Friendly staff Heated pool Full kitchen Towels 4 pool and beach Free car parking Housekeeping each day Handy location beach, shops, restaurants
Location: Overlooks canal and golf course 2 blocks to beach Restaurants and shopping close by Honolulu bus stops to Pearl Harbour, Diamond Head etc end of block
Our family has just spent a wonderful 11 nights in 3 separate units in this hotel. The staff always greeted us and took an interest in what we were doing. The pool is heated and our 4 littlies enjoyed it especially when we bought them ring floaties, as depth was problem for holding on to them in centre of pool. Towels to take to pool and beach a bonus. Enjoyed the staff singing on Friday morning but unfortunately we missed Lei making session on Wednesday.

Nice hotel for the moneu

Posted 11-Apr-2018
The hotel is just offmof the Main Street. It’s a little run down but ok for the price. The room we had was on the 5th floor and it had a kitchen. The only bad thing I would say about the room is that the bathroom always had water on the floor near the sink and toilet. Other than that it was fine. They also have a very small pool that I never went in. I would stay here again.

Perfect for families, close to everything

Posted 7-Apr-2018
Pros: Very clean. Location. Close to amenities. Friendly staff.
For families traveling to Waikiki on a budget, this hotel is perfect. The room was immaculate and had all what was needed for a quiet and comfortable stay. Kitchenette was really helpful and staff was always friendly. It is very close to the beach and to many restaurants and food pantry is only 4 minutes away. I totally recommend this hotel.

Very good value in older hotel

Posted 23-Mar-2018
This is a very good relative value to other hotels in this hotel/restaurant neighborhood in Waikiki, a few blocks from the main beach. Staff is great and helpful, rooms are large with kitchen and dining tables, other furniture, porch/lanai, beds comfortable, free parking though pretty tight in some cases and may not be available late at night. But it could use a thorough modernization, perhaps replacement of surface areas that have been repainted many times, etc. Though that would probably make it less of a value for its very adequate attention to basic, comfortable hotel needs. Very much recommended.

Nice hotel with free parking

Posted 19-Mar-2018
Jay, the Concierge was friendly and courteous. We were assigned a rom on the 6th floor. Parking was free and we didn’t have any issues finding a spot to park during our 4 night stay. The room was dated (old decor) reminiscent of the 70’s. So were the appliances. The room was huge (superior suite) but the bathroom was pretty small with no cabinet space to store toiletries. The A/C blew cold air and the kitchen was well stocked. We didn’t spend much time in our room so the view was not important. We had our own balcony overlooking roof tops of other buildings. Location of the hotel is near the busy areas so access to stores and restaurants were excellent and within 5 minutes walking distance. For the money you are paying Ilima Hotel is an excellent value for money if you are willing to overlook the old decor.

A very nice stay!

Posted 10-Mar-2018
Even though there was no pool or gym, it still was a great hotel to stay in because it was reasonable, the beds were comfortable, the room temperature was good, and having a kitchen was incredibly helpful in saving money on eating out. It is also close to everything on Waikiki and has free parking! We would definitely stay there again! The staff was fantastic!

Very satisfied, clean, near beach, free parking

Posted 9-Mar-2018
Pros: See above.
Cons: The shower spray is a little week but still acceptable for the sake of saving water.
Location: 2 blocks to Waikiki beach. Eateries, markets, corner grocery stores, bakeries, bars all within 2 min of walking.
We chose this hotel because of the high customer ratings despite the low star rating (don't expect a top-of the range facility). We were very satisfied with this choice. Very clean - looks clean, smells clean, feels clean. Free parking, a super big room with a kitchen net. Although the place is not brand new nor newly renovated, everything they used during construction was good quality. The staff is super friendly and helpful. Overall a great value. Definitely recommended. We would come back to this hotel without hesitation.
