"Amazing hotel! Breakfast less than 5 star though :"
This is the 2nd time we have stayed at this beautiful hotel and we loved it! The rooms are very small though, bed is beautiful and comfy. We were extremely disappointed With the breakfast buffet, BEWARE! For the price, it is not worth it. Very basic, and the waiters bring out a menu and let you choose from the menu (omelettes, pancakes etc) and the. They bring the bill for all menu items ordered! This is on top of the high price of breakfast. This is more like 3 star to me. Try the Royal Hawaiian for breakfast a short walk away.

"Not what you expect from a 5 star hotel"
Was not greeted the same way as other hotels . The rooms were old and dusty just the upkeep is not there. Nothing is provided by the hotel, no free parking, no free snokel gear ect. Internet is free. They however do not charge resort fee so I guess that makes a bit more sense. The staff is very nice and friendly. Gave us a free photo and sparkling wine for our honeymoon. What I am saying is this hotel is great but not for the price.

"Location, Location, Location"
ALTHOUGH THE ROOMS ARE VERY SMALL they were comfortable, as long as you had no intentions on staying in. Which is very hard to do being in a central Waikiki location. This is walking distance to all the major activities in Waikiki and what I would consider a very convenient location for the cost. There is an awesome restaurant just downstairs where the steaks and prime rib were awesome. I never did get a chance to try the Japanese restaurant but will do so next time. All in all a fairly nice stay.

"Good position, helpful staff"
We arrived one day 'early' having not recognised that crossing the Date Line meant a 43 hour Sunday! Arriving tired at 1.30 am and there being no rooms available, Kym sorted a room at the Hilton Gardens.

"Terrific view!"
Stayed in a 2BR corner on the 24th floor with a magnificent view of the ocean/harbor on one side and downtown on the other. The rooms were clean and everything worked as advertised. The hallways are dated as the hotel was built in 1964 (I was living at Ewa Beach when it was finished. Overall, it was a fine stay of four days. Recommend.

"Resort prices without the resort experience"
I stayed here last year with friends and loved it in a 2 bedroom so I booked here with my husband and toddler this time and was really disappointed. With the price you pay, you would expect a little luxury - no pool on site, no room service, no cleaning service daily, a lumpy sofa bed, no crib provided when asked and a broken safe - you even have to call if you want new towels!! The limited staff they do have on in the lobby barely make you feel welcome, if they look up from what they are doing at all. Having to cart our own luggage and a cranky toddler in a pram because there aren't enough staff was just one of the examples of poor service. And then to get picked up or dropped off your transport picks you up in the middle of the street as there's no driveway and limited street parking. THEN, they stick you with a $200 cleaning fee for your stay - on top of the outrageous prices! Next time I'm going to book the hotel down the street offering the same condo style with all the hotel amenities you'd expect on holidays. It seems the Recency uses its outrigger name to demand big prices when it's really not worth it.

"It was OK"
Our stay wasn't terribly bad nor was it excellent. It was OK. Had a few hairs on the bathroom floor from previous guests though. The staff was friendly.
