An OK stay at Aqua Bamboo WaikikiPosted 23-Jan-2018
Pros: Private pool is nice. Awesome customer service (from receptionists to hotel security to house keeping -- any time of the day)!
Cons: Remove unnecessary furniture & re-paint room walls white to give an illusion that spaces are bigger than they are. Remove carpet for low maintenance.
Location: Hotel is located in Kuhio, 2-3 blocks to Waikiki Beach. Restaurants, the zoo, aquarium and shopping areas are walking distance.
I booked a 6 night stay because of the good reviews I read. However, the good reviews I read did not match what I witnessed & experienced -- the online photos did not match our room’s ambiance. Although the room has renovated kitchen, there were just too many (bulky) furniture in such a small space, chipped paints on the wall, noisy AC box & you can hear the heavy traffic from the street. Listen, I am not expecting glamorous hotels like Las Vegas since guests should spend time walking around, swimming in & tanning on the beach. That's what Hawaii is about, but... if one had booked this hotel 4 mos in advanced, one should at least get what one is being offered. The good things about this hotel: It is on a prime location, just parallel & 2 blocks from Kalakaua. It is situated on a busier street due to public rides traveling on this road. But, it's a walking distance to many restaurants, shopping areas, & definitely easy access to bus rides/stops. Bus drivers we encountered were all friendly. They give info where to debark for your destinations. The main highlight of this hotel is its private pool (love it) & staff's great customer service, particularly from Aja who gave us directions for walking to site-see, & provided us bus & boarding info. I wish we had tried the Pizza place onsite as I had seen many come to eat there. Being on a great location & with awesome staff, with a bit more lobby and room renovations, this hotel will definitely be more on demand! :)

Good place for a decent pricePosted 21-Dec-2017
Nice hotel in the center of Waikiki beach. Limited parking but you can park at other hotels for the same price. Everything is within walking distance: food, shopping and the beach. Try the Lovin Oven downstairs by the pool, great vegan place but doesn’t compromise on taste. Staff was friendly and very accommodating to needs.

Great location, close to the beach. Lovely pool.Posted 20-Dec-2017
Pros: Location and pool
Cons: Refurbishment or painting everything white to lift the old bamboo brown and make it feel light and bright. Replacing curtains in all rooms.
Location: Noisy road outside, noisy bins removed each day on the other side. Depends where your room is as to your noise levels. Otherwise great location.
Aqua Bamboo was a nice smaller hotel in a great location being close to the middle of Waikiki beach. Although its décor was a little dated and tired, with the soft furnishings especially needing replacement the pool area was just beautiful and the staff were extremely lovely making up for that.

Smoke and mirrorsPosted 2-Dec-2017
Pros: Close to beach. Pool area was nice
Cons: Better upholstered sitting chairs. If you book a king get a king.
Location: Luau, Diamond Head, Pearl Harbour all avalible from bus across street.
Did not get king size. Got a double. Said they would upgrade for a fee. Said they do not guarantee size on arrival. No sense booking early. Room looked bigger on brochures due to mirrors. 2.5 stars at best.

Pros: The pool area and pizza shop and free coffee and water machines.
Cons: The decor was dated and could do with a refresh.
Location: Two streets from the main strip, beach, shopping and good bus and shuttle service
This hotel is centrally located to shopping and the beach. The room was comfortable with a kitchenette and balcony. The queen beds were comfortable but we felt the sheets were not clean and fresh. There is a shuttle service that takes you to Ala Moana Shopping Complex next door. The pool area was lush and tropical with lots of seating. There is also a Pizza shop on the premises which was a novelty. Overall it was a pleasant stay. I would recommend it to families and couples.

Good value hotel...Posted 30-Oct-2017 on Hotels
All was pretty good with our room except the AC did not work. Because of this, we had to leave the doors open all night to cool down the room and it was pretty noisy outside so had some difficulty sleeping. Other than that, location was great and room was satisfactory. Nice that coffee and newspaper offered in the lobby. Parking fee a little high but expected in Waikiki. It's worth it because it is secured parking.

Nice hotel and amazing staff!Posted 26-Oct-2017
We stayed at this hotel on the first leg of our trip to Hawaii. The location is so convenient. You can walk to Waikiki Beach and many shops/restaurants. The room was spacious and clean. We were very comfortable. The staff is beyond helpful. They answered our numerous questions about attractions, hikes and activities. They went out of their way to make sure we were getting the most out of our trip. The pool area is very nice! The only slightly negative thing I would mention is the parking fee, but we only rented a car for 2 days so we just paid one night of parking. Overall, we were truly satisfied and happy with the Aqua Bamboo.
