An oasis of peace in the heart of Waikiki!

Posted 26-Nov-2015
Pros: His oriental decor, the pool amongst bamboos, very confortable room with excellent bed.free chairs to take to the beach...and more
Cons: Personally we both like strong showers...
Location: Very well situated as 2 minutes from the famous beaches and plenty to do and see within walking distance.also great for tours as near to main hotels
A lovely smaller hotel with excellent service and so well situated, right in the heart of Waikiki.

Bit old but close to the beach

Posted 11-Nov-2015
Pros: Fast and efficient WiFi. Great location about 5 min walk from Waikiki beach.
Cons: Needs a bar/proper resturant. Bathrooms sorely in need of updating.
Location: Very close to Waikiki beach, shops, restaurants, and Zoo. Close to hotel pick ups for activities (usually 4 min walk to Hyatt).
Hotel was surprisingly dated and old for the price (but then everything on Waikiki is very expensive). Bathrooms looked they belonged in a hostel rather than a hotel. However, free WiFi was excellent, strong, and fast. Nice poolside but the 'restaurant' only did full pizzas - no smaller dishes and no bar.

The service and ambiance were best at the hotel. However the room was just not very peaceful. Between the street noise and the wall unit, it was necessary to use earplugs for me to sleep. The amenities included DVD rentals at no additional charge, which was nice. The dining option the hotel has onsite, The Lovin Oven (pizza), was reasonably priced, but did not taste worth the $26. The location of the hotel is also great; it's near the beach and great shopping and dining options. All said and done though, I wouldn't hesitate to stay there again!

Nice staff but hotel is dated.

Posted 15-Oct-2015
We stayed at the Aqua Bamboo for seven nights and whilst the staff and pool were lovely - the hotel room was very dated, the bathroom was very tiny and and the shower head was horrible. The air con unit was extremely loud which made it difficult to sleep at night.

This hotel is now outdated.its

Posted 14-Sep-2015
Pros: Its location.
Cons: Destruction plus new ownership. with sensible hotel administration.
Location: already stated regarding location ,its in the center of Waikiki so plenty to do nearby.
On arrival we were informed we would be charged $15 per day for a variety of things that were either of no use what so ever to us or things that a hotel normally supplies, have stayed in many hotels this was a first for us and was by us considered outrageous by us ,we let our feelings be known to the receptionist who quickly exonerated us from those deplorable charges. will we consider returning to this hotel you ask ,,,Noooo.

Disappointed by the lack of communication

Posted 1-Sep-2015
Pros: The only redeeming factor is that the hotel is two short blocks from the beach.
Cons: I think customer service needs ++ improvement. The receptionist could have put us in a better room without the irritating view.
I travelled to Hawaii with my husband and son (17) in August, 2015. I had booked a room that was to have two queen beds. In addition to this I wrote to the hotel stating that we will be three people and need to make sure there would be a bed for my son. Also I requested a room facing the courtyard as in previous reviews it was recommended due to the lower noise factor. We arrived to learn that the hotel did not receive my comments and was not aware that there were three of us. I showed them a copy of what was sent to Expedia. They said Expedia did not share this information with them. In any case they said they would offer us a room for $40.00 extra per night. I said that this was not acceptable as I have made an effort to notify them earlier. The receptionist at the desk barely made eye contact with me and treated me as if I was lying to them. I said I am disappointed with the reception I am receiving from them and I do not think it is fair to charge me extra. The woman then offered me a room on the 3rd floor with two double beds. When we got inside the room I noted we were facing an apartment building directly across from our room. The distance between the two buildings is maybe 20 feet. We could all see into each other's balconies. The tenants in this building were using their balconies for storing their old matrasses, old furniture and junk piled up. Not pleasing to the eye as you are paying a high cost of a hotel room in Honolulu.

By far the best customer service I received in my 10/days of traveling in the islands. The staff was constantly doing extra things to help me. Aja, Raymond, Kimari and the rest of them. And when I came by a few days later with an extra request involving the billing and my corporate account, again they answered with high marks and friendliness. Hospitality is the #1 industry in Hawaii but it doesn't mean everyone there is good at it or cares. Just go to a car rental agency (Thrifty, cough cough) to see what bad service and apathy looks like. Aqua Bamboo nails customer service.
