Very nice hotel. Friendly staff.

Posted 15-May-2017
Clean beautiful hotel. Middle elevator was down the whole trip. Parking at the hotel is 35 bucks a day. There is no where to park in Waikiki without paying. Some parking lots are 8 dollars an hour. Something to consider if you're renting a car. The staff at hotel were wonderful and so friendly. Pool was clean and nice. We stayed in Waikiki and had most of our daytime activities outside the city. The city is busy. We could hear the cars, sirens all night. If I were going back to Oahu I would try to stay away from Waikiki. I didn't like the hussle bussle of the city. You can't grasp the beauty of Oahu in Honolulu. But the hotel was reasonably priced, clean, beautiful. No complaints about hotel. The location in the city I did not care for.

Short overnight stay

Posted 13-May-2017
Pros: Friendly, helpful staff; comfortable room, great location
Location: Only a short walk to the beach and on a major city bus route. Its right on the "entrance" to Waikiki, so lots of amenities in every direction
We stayed at the Luana Waikiki for one night only because we were in a time share condo for two weeks that started the next morning. We arrive on a late flight and when we arrived at the hotel we were greeted by very friendly and helpful staff who even said that they would extend our checkout time the next day if we wanted to catch some extra sleep before going on to our condo. The room was good size with a comfortable bed, a coffee maker and very clean bathroom. The toiletries were of a high quality and part of their brand. Very quiet hotel. Front desk offered a free shuttle the next morning, but we were only three blocks from the condo, so we chose to walk. We would certainly stay there again in the future.

Nice hotel at a convenient location.

Posted 13-May-2017
Pros: location, free fresh coffee, tea and apples in the morning and drinking water in the lobby. Free wine and cheese party every M/W/F.
Cons: The elevators be fixed sooner. Vacuum the floor better will be nice.
Location: If you are going the zoo direction, it is good to catch the shuttle bus from the hotel. Going to Ala Moana mall, go to Holiday Express across the rd.
We booked two rooms through two separate bookings and were disappointed at the beginning when we were not provided with two double beds as requested. The staff finally changed one of our rooms with two double beds even though we arrived very late the first night. However, I was awaken by the elevator repairmen very early the next morning. I was very upset and complained to the front desk. Jessica, the front desk receptionist, was able to calm me down by agreeing to change the room for me as soon as one is available two days later. At the end we stayed in the original room as the elevator repair work was finished the next day. Thanks to Jessica. We enjoyed the convenience of the hotel location with shuttle bus and shops and restaurants nearby. Beach is about 5 to 10 minutes walk away. We also enjoyed the free fresh coffee, tea and apples in the morning and good drinking water available in the lobby all day. The wine and cheese party every Monday, Wednesday and Friday is definitely a bonus.

Nothing to write home about.

Average hotel, overpriced with hidden charges. For example, $35/day to park your car.

Aloha Al and thank you for sharing your review. Our daily amenity fee is posted on our website and is an industry standard that allows our guests to enjoy various services and amenities, including access to our fitness center, shuttle service, WiFi Internet access and more without having to incur miscellaneous charges. We do our best to make our guests aware of these charges before their arrival. and I apologize if this was not your experience. The parking facility is privately managed and since parking in Waikiki is quite limited a daily fee is not uncommon at many properties. Your valuable feedback is greatly appreciated and I will share it with our team for careful consideration. We hope to have the pleasure of welcoming you back for an improved experience soon. Mahalo!

Nicely located Hotel with Friendly Staff

Posted 7-May-2017
Cons: As you'll read elsewhere, the elevators are a challenge. Very slow, but they are replacing and fixing them, unfortunately while we were ther.
Location: great access to buses. Walking distance to beaches and shopping. Nice big park behind it for little kid "run-around".
The Luana is a very nice hotel for the price. It was quiet and within ealking distance to beaches. The pool, movies, and yoga class were some of the amenities that were appreciated. The kitchenette was well- stocked with pots, utinsels and service ware. The best was the very helpful staff. They were all friendly and ready to be of service.

Shower

Posted 3-May-2017
A constant temperature of hot water won't come out of the shower in my place. So, it was so hard to take shower.

I had a fantastic stay at this property. It always smelled great, always spotless, and the staff are amazing. The hotel offered free cocktails, firework show, etc. Stayed 7 days and it was amazing here. You can see the ocean, and mountaine side. Highly recommend it here.

Nice hotel, sort of close to beach

Posted 2-May-2017
Pros: Kitchenette, porch with view, couch is nice, coffee in lobby.
Location: walk directly to the beach and there is a fun "bar on the beach" with shade, near the military complex.
Waikiki beach is somewhat overbuilt, and this is an example of it, on a big street, and a big glassy hotel. You can walk about 2 long blocks and get to a sort of fun section of the beach, and be able to walk to waikiki main beach from there. They were nice at arranging things like shuttles and like a trip to hunauma bay for snorkeling. the pool is nice, the friday night happy hour is fun. its close to many things.

Aloha and thank you for sharing your review. I am happy to learn that you enjoyed our ideal location close to Waikiki beach, shopping and dining, as well as our convenient in-room amenities, spectacular views and friendly, accommodating staff. It's true, Waikiki can be a bit crowded at times but luckily it's just a short walk from our location to spacious parks and green areas like Fort Derussy beach Park. I am also happy to hear that you enjoyed the lobby refreshments and manager's reception, both are wonderful ways to meet other guests and take a break. Your feedback is greatly appreciated and we hope to welcome you again for another great stay in the future. Mahalo.

Nice Hotel a little set back from the beach

Posted 2-May-2017
Pros: Clean and friendly staff
Cons: N/A
Location: Great location, bus stop right in front of hotel that takes you to just about any place on the island. Just a short walk through a park to the beach.
Nice amenities, the hotel offers free yoga sessions 4 times a week which we enjoyed twice during our stay. We did not attend the wine and cheese reception offered twice a week but saw that it was well used by other hotel guests. If we visit again we would not stay at a room facing the street side since traffic was very loud.
