The rooms are again representative of a by gone time, nothing quite matches, my room safe didn’t work and even when reported to management wasn’t repaired - there is no air conditioning. The gardens were stunning and beautifully kept. The hotel was like a step back in time - not for those looking for a modern hotel - but the hotel was beautifully kept. My only comment would be that the bed was squeaky! Dinner in the fine dining room was a real experience with a large diverse menu and wine list. Yes you have to dress up but that is part of the whole experience and was one of my favourite nights so far. The staff were incredibly friendly and attentive - maybe too much so at times. We stopped for lunch at the golf club which was just at the bottom of the gardens. But there are some things like a cheap hotel, like the menu or breakfast menu, plastic. The staff is not very nice, and they charge you everything in the spot, including the acommodation. The staff are so warm and welcoming and made our stay really enjoyable. The surrounding area isn't that exciting but Horton Plains isn't far away and we had a great time having high tea and enjoying the hotel itself.
