Enjoy epic sunsets every night from the fire pit or stone patio and during the day swim in the clear refreshing water or hike some of the many trails. Located on the Bruce Trail, your perfect Bruce Peninsula escape. Our co-hosts and caretakers live 6 doors down and are available anytime via text or phone call. Maybe a sunset cruise or a day of fishing for salmon is on your list of must do’s, well we may be able to accommodate with notice and an additional fee. This is a quiet cottage road lined with family-owned properties, many of which date back to the 1960s. The road itself was originally cut by the farmer who once owned the surrounding land, later dividing the waterfront into buildable cottage lots. That early history still shapes the feel of the area today, with a close-knit, low-traffic atmosphere that reflects generations of cottage life rather than modern development. The neighbourhood is peaceful and well established, with mature trees, generous spacing between cottages, and a relaxed pace that invites visitors to slow down and enjoy their surroundings. It’s the kind of place where families have returned year after year, creating a sense of continuity and quiet tradition along the shoreline. Many visitors are struck by the vivid aqua colour of Georgian Bay’s water. This stunning hue is the result of light refracting through calcite crystals suspended in the water. Calcite forms when calcium carbonate leaches from the dolostone that makes up the Niagara Escarpment. Rainfall, which is naturally slightly acidic, and wave action against surrounding rocks cause calcium-rich material to enter the water, where it crystallizes into tiny particles. These crystals double-refract light, a process known as birefringence, creating the brilliant blues and greens that define the bay. This natural phenomenon is one of the many features that make Georgian Bay so visually striking and geologically unique. It’s also part of the broader story of the Niagara Escarpment, a landscape shaped over millions of years and still revealing its beauty today. This entry is the second post in a series exploring the fascinating geology and history of the Niagara Escarpment. Access is to complete home but excludes garage and barn. Contactless check-in. BEDROOMS: 6 bedrooms (4 Queen Beds, 2 King bed) Each bed is donned with luxurious duvets and covers. Included: Comforters, down filled pillows, sheets, pillowcases and towels. KITCHEN We have a fully equipped kitchen, with all appliances available to use, including fridge, stove, dishwasher, microwave and oven. Plus, take advantage of the UV filtered drinking water, toaster, blender, drip coffee maker, espresso machine and ice maker. Included: Paper towels, dish soap, dishwasher soap, salt/pepper, some spices, saran wrap and tinfoil. Dining area offers a gorgeously crafted table with seating for 12. BATHROOMS Enjoy 3 - 3pc bathrooms with showers and tubs as well as 2-2pc. Included: Toilet paper, shampoo, conditioner, hand soap and hairdryer in 3pc baths. LAUNDRY New units. Included: laundry soap BACKYARD The back of the cottage includes a deck with a sun awning, a fully furnished covered patio, and outdoor shower, gas BBQ (direct to cottage, no tank needed), and a shore deck with a firepit (wood provided) and plenty of outdoor seating. ENTERTAINMENT For your outdoor fun, swim right out front from the shore for unforgettable scenic views. There are plenty of indoor games and books to keep you occupied. EXCURSIONS North Bruce Peninsula is a dream for fishing and boating enthusiasts, outdoor adventurers and photographers, and is the perfect homebase for day trips into Lion's Head and Tobermory. The cottage is located on the Bruce Trail close to scenic caves, only 2 min. to public boat launch, 20 min. drive to Wiarton Golf Club (9 holes). FISHING Fish off the boat launch dock (a 5 min walk) for smallmouth bass or visit between the last week of July to the first week of August for the Chantry Chinook Classic Salmon Derby on the bay. The weigh station is in Wiarton at the boat launch area. The Rush Cove Fishing Derby takes place during the third week of August and is a great way to meet people and catch some salmon. The weigh station is at the boat launch 2 min. away. Policy Length of stay varies depending on demand. Must be 25 to make a reservation. All guests must be at least 25 years of age on long weekends (if booking as individuals/couples). Maximum capacity: 12 adults Please ensure you enter the correct guest count as there may be additional fees per person/person. A vehicle is required to get around the peninsula. Don’t miss out on this bucket-list adventure. Occupancy: 12 People Maximum The cottage is well equipped for family gatherings. The main floor has 2 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms as well as an open dining / living room over looking a wall of windows to the water. From the Dining and sunroom you can access the main wood deck that has seating areas throughout. Step off the deck onto a 600 sq foot stone patio deck chairs, umbrellas and a firepit area and expansive views of the Georgian Bay. The second floor of cottage has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. Amenities: Gas Grill, Charcoal Grill, 2 refrigerators, Fire Pit Fire pit - please review current open fire rules on the peninsula as they change throughout the season. There are 2 gas Fireplaces inside the home one in the sunroom and one in the living room. Important Notes: (1) You'll want to bring your water shoes as the bottom of the Bay is flat rock and can be slippery. The Bay can be fairly cold but warms up mid July. We also suggest hiking boots and a walking stick if you're planning on doing any of the more advanced trails such as Halfway Log Dump. (2) The Michael resides on a 'No Winter Access' road, meaning from Oct 15 to Easter Weekend every year the road is not municipally maintained and is the responsibility of the local Rush Cove community to upkeep. Although we do have an enclosed 'Side By Side' ATV to help shuttle guests from the Rush Cove parking area, a Four Wheel Drive vehicle during inclement winter specifically from late November until mid-March is highly recommended. No 3rd king bed. Only 2.2\. No gas line to BBQ - the listing even said and I quote (no propane needed). To add on the irritation; the propane tank was empty upon arrival! We cook a lot and ran out of propane by day 4 and messaged the host. They said another one would be delivered but nothing came before we left. Luckily the microwaved was working to eat leftovers.3\. Deck fan was broken and unusable. Host blamed the GFCI circuit but one of the fan blades was snapped off. Host claimed it was weird? And left it at that. They also couldn't tell us how to reset the GFCI circuit.4\. We brought a Costco outdoor fan and blew the outdoor receptacles; owner and management team didn't know where all the GFCI's were so we had no power outside - no fan when BBQ in (in middle of August.)5\. Cockroaches in the kitchen on day 2.6\. The last minute host multiplier charge was diabolical and straight up dirty. You get no information from the host until 7 days prior, so they're preying on people who plan trips, to take advantage last minute (since you're pretty much locked in).For over 1000 per night, I expected an accurate listing and great service. This properly is worth 250 per night max or less.Do not recommend. 0/5 is my true rating but isn't a valid option.You've been properly warned. ##### Shaumaine T.
