Great staff, very friendly and helpful. 15 minutes on foot from train station close to all main attractions in York center. Me and my fiancé had a lovely time!

Hotel excellent staff very helpful, very convenient to walk to all amenities, rooms excellent, very clean and comfortable and spacious. Ideal if travelling by train short walk to station. Look forward to staying again. Highly recommended.

Paint chipping off the wall, a used contact lens in the bathroom, stained blankets, paper thin walls, the door to the bathroom needs replacing. £175 was way too much, also if you advertise a king size bed you should provide it. It was only a double

Wouldn’t recommend
Unfortunately not a great stay, room was basic, carpet was all loose (really bad trip hazard). Glass door between room and bathroom gave no privacy, window in bathroom had no blind and therefore early light woke us up. Housekeeping banging on our door at 10.30 to clean room when checkout was 11am! Not even a bottle of complimentary water

Very friendly and helpful staff from the minute we arrived to the minute we left . Property kept in tip top condition room very welcoming and cosy excellent space and toilets very very clean . Staff very knowledgeable of the surrounding area and could recommend and answer any queries.Would definitely recommend and we plan to travel again soon to this hotel. David and Hazel .

Jirvik House could not have been more perfect for our trip needs. Close to the historic district and right next door to the beautiful city park, we were basically able to fall out of bed every morning and within 5 minutes we were at a lovely cafe for breakfast or hiking to our first cathedral/castle/Viking stomping grounds.

Distinctive character and comfort
Very comfortable and clean with distinctive character and very thoughtful, friendly hosts. The location was ideal and the simple breakfast we ordered quite tasty. I would love to return if in York again.

Everything was great except the cleaning supplies they use. Very strong smell was left in the room that had a strong perfume scent. Very rough on someone with bad allergies. The bathroom could have used some paint work, but I really could not complain overall and it was a great stay. I would certainly recommend to others.

This property was adorable and the location was perfect. I would have given it 5 stars but they gave no indication of all the stairs!! My husband had just had knee surgery and we booked the studio which was on the 4th floor. The stairs were pretty steep and there wasn't a lift. When had to change rooms to the 3rd floor, of which I'm still waiting on a credit. I wish I would've known about all the stairs. With that said, the room was super comfy and the location couldn't have been better. I would recommend this place and would stay there again (just would request a room lower).

Comfortable and great location.

Fabulous stay.
The room was a very high standard. It was a good size, a good view, a very comfortable bed and a large bathroom. The reception staff were extremely helpful. The location is perfect, a short work to the museum gardens and into the city centre.

Room was very dark , no windows, few things need updating , like carpet , toilet roll holder keep falling off the wall , mattress is very uncomfortable, had a dip , so obviously need changing. Not as luxurious as advertised.

Really quaint hotel. Wouldn’t say it was luxury but we really enjoyed it the room was spotless. Staff were really friendly and the location was perfect. We will come back next time we’re in York for sure.

Fantastic York hotel!
This was my favorite hotel on my 10 day England vacation. The bed was cozy. Everything was clean. My room was very quiet and attractive. The bathroom was amazing, with the biggest shower I had in England and a rainfall shower head. The desk staff was helpful in giving me a map of York and dining recommendations. Fantastic 2 night stay!

Jorvic House is a beautiful boutique hotel/guest house at Marygate next to the historic ruins of St Mary's Abbey. The area hosts shops, pubs, restaurants and a paid parking lot nearby and is ideally placed for walking to/from the city center. We loved the updated rooms, quality linens and bath products, ample space and friendly staff. We would certainly stay here again as it was good value for money and offered the amenities we were looking for in a short stay.
