Exceptional!
I really enjoyed my stay at Cutty Sark Efficiencies in Virginia Beach. It is a very nice property, clean, comfortable, cozy, wonderful in every way. The customer service was excellent ! Great people! Ms. Koch Innkeeper, Doug, Jerry, Tammy were extremely helpful and pleasant to interact with. I would definitely stay here again!

Staff very friendly and helpful. Parking is limited but free and manageable. Rooms are quaint but a bit dated. Water pressure was fair and bed was too soft for my tastes but not a big deal. Location is perfect- close to beach, a Dunkin Donuts and Mellow Mushroom- what more could you ask for?

Interesting retro style room ... Clean with strong hot shower. Only stayed the night, but kitchenette diningware helped us eat our takeout, and cooking is possible if you're staying a while. Only downer is it wasn't quite oceanview. The beach and ocean could be seen from our balcony, but sunrise required a 2 minute walk down the stairs and across the street around the condo building blocking the sun.

The room was clean but there was a loud noise coming from a fan on the wall every time the wind blowed and the ac didnt work and had to use box fan also no elevator

Hotels.com left my son & I without a reservation b/c they didn't tell us the hotel wasn't fully confirmed. We ended up without a place to stay. Worst experience of my life. Hotels.com is the WORST!!!

Enjoyed our stay here. Plenty of close by shopping, and eateries. The room itself was nice, clean, and comfortable once we got the bed replaced. Christine(?) in the front office was extremely helpful and pleasant to interact with. Would consider staying here again!

Not great...
The room was old and outdated, not to much of a problem for us. But, when I checked the beds they were infested with ANTS! Guy at the front desk was nice and refunded us right away with no issues, but I wouldn't stay there again.

Still a fan of the Cutty Sark
I've stayed here a few times over the years and I really like the place - everything I need, no frills. Not luxurious but with great location and access. this time, I could not figure out how to turn on the AC, as the thermostat only accessed the heat. The TV situation is also a bit quirky. The Cutty Sark is quaint and unique and I like it, but hope they can keep up with a few things.

Very old school type of place. Could use more updated electric devices. Not a lot of of room for meal prep but overall it was a pleasant stay. Do put any coins in the 1970 coke machine LOL

Very nice staff was clean and well kept a bit dated but everything worked well. Was a pleasant surprise for the small amount of money it cost. It felt like the days of old at the beach when people liked their job and they were there to make sure your vacation was relaxing and enjoyable.

The pool was small and looked cloudy. I didn’t feel comfortable there and was told by one of the staff the room was too small for me to have company over. Than the safe member explained the hotel room was just for sleeping. The bathtub didn’t drain even after several attempts to be fix. There was mold in the bathroom. We called ahead and said we were smokers, we were informed that our room didn’t have a balcony but was told we could smoke outside of our room. We did smoke outside of our room than was told people who walked by complained that they didn’t let walking by and we were never offered a balcony room .

We are very sorry we did not please. We are a very small non-smoking facility. Our little Cutty Sark only has a little over 12 units. Smaller than most new Homes, McMansions, built now a days. These units are not for inviting, entertaining, or catering. No one but registered guests. When you reported the bathtub drain was slow, it was fixed completely in less than 40 minutes and it drains well till this day. Your reservation was made through Expedia and either you did not request a Balcony or there was not one available as was the case when you asked our front desk to move you to a balcony, we were fully occupied. Our pool readings are taken every two hours and remains clear blue. It is small, more like a large hot tub with a Jacuzzi bench to give a wonderful water Massage. You did smoke outside, But left your door fully open, sitting on the stairs blocking others entry and with the a/c drawing smoke into the room. In our 42 years here, our aim is to have this be the most wonderful relaxing vacation ever. Sorry we failed you.

Way too noisy from jets flying over until 11:30 pm the first night. People walking by talking and laughing until after 1:00 am the next two nights- Friday and Saturday. On Saturday night a parade of jazzed up pickups drove right by after midnight. Bathroom sink was clogged and drained very slowly. Only 7 parking spaces behind building. Old run down place. Awful.

We are sorry you were not happy with your stay. We obviously can't control when the jets are flying over or how loud they are but yes they do practice from time to time. We are located at the quiet north end of Atlantic Avenue and we don't usually have disturbance problems outside of our property but again, out of our control. If we knew there were issues with your sink, we would have taken care of it immediately. Yes, there are 7 spaces behind the building, but there are additional parking spaces (one to accommodate every room) available. We wish it had been more satisfying for you. We appreciate our guests.

The staff is wonderful. Very accommodating. Location is good. Even though it’s across the street and not oceanfront, you can still see the ocean from between buildings from your balcony.

A great deal for the money savings
The Cutty Sark is an older, family owned hotel across the street from the oceanfront. The ocean views are fabulous from the room and each room has its own deck. The rooms are clean and have small kitchenettes and the beds are super comfy. The hotel is located on the quiet end of the beach and within walking distance of everything you need form beachfront to restaurants.

Small and Perfect Location
This is an older 1960's hotel that is right across the street from the beach with some rooms having a nice view of the ocean. The room was clean but the fixtures and furniture are definitely older. There is someone at the front desk only during the day from 10 to 6. However they were very good about checking to see if we would arrive prior to 6 and were willing to make other arrangements for us to get our room key. Parking is very limited at the site but is available across the street. There is a pool and wifi and our unit had a mini old kitchen with a unit that had a sink, oven, 3 burner stove and refrigerator. It is within walking distance of most of the activities and places on the oceanfront. The trolley stops right out front if you wish to ride (at a cost). This is an inexpensive small place to stay at the Virginia Beach oceanfront. I would return for short weekend stays.

Great experience for the price! The efficiency unit had everything we needed; a small kitchen w/ dishes, coffee maker, fridge, microwave, etc. The balcony that overlooks the water was the best part! We stayed out there for hours watching the waves. Even though you are across the street from the beach, you still have unobstructed views of the water. Awesome value for the price and proximity to the beach!

Good small hotel
It’s an older hotel, but they keep it clean. It’s actually across the street from the beach, but you can still see it easily. Good location. My only complaint is the bed is uncomfortable.
