Mut Mee transported me back to those times. Staff was helpful. It’s located central Nong Khai so easy to walk to where you need or get tuk tuk’s if going a bit further. My room did not have a/c or a bathroom but the evenings were cool enough with the fan and the bathroom was shared between two rooms so that was easy. The hotel is charming, the staff helpful, the bikes in reasonable condition, and the location fantastic. Great location looking out at the Mekong River. The room was fine except there were some tiny ants looking for food on the lamp table and the bed was too hard to allow me to sleep comfortably on my side. The rooms were well-cared for and accommodating, without ostentation. It's a casual place where you easily can spend the day lounging on your room's veranda or under a common palapa in the gardens. The gardens, and most rooms, face the promenade along the Mekong, so you can walk - or borrow one of their bikes - for miles along the river, and there's little if any motor vehicle noise. The street markets are nearby, either along the promenade or a couple blocks inland. There's a very friendly resident dog and a couple of cats. Mosquitoes are present, of course, but each room has a mosquito net for the bed, as well as aircon. Food is good; coffee could use some attention.
