(You are still allowed to smoke in your room here) We may also all have splinal damage from sleeping on the floor in the “Japanese style beds” This whole town has a bit of a post apocalyptic feel when we visited in the winter as it’s quite run down. View from the room was fantastic and the tatamis/yukatas provided were comfortable. Dinner was good except that we thought it would be in-room dining - the meals are served at the lobby restaurant. Onsen was ok, they have an open-air bath with the indoor one. The nightly fireworks is visible from the room, but as it moves westward it goes out of sight pretty quickly.
